《Mythological Weapons》Chapter 27: rays of hope

Shiryuu’s POV:
“This power… The light mage girl is also a Mythological Weapon user?” Shouted Adramelech.
“Get up Shiryuu, we have to finish him off while we still have the energy. I’m sure he can’t fend off two Mythological Weapon users at the same time.”
“I’m surprised to know that you were one too. Is that orb your weapon?”
“Yeah, it is. I have just awakened now. The person inside the orb told me that.”
‘Person inside the orb? Can she talk to the being sealed inside her weapon like me?’ I muttered to myself.
“Let’s save the chat for later. He’s getting up.” She added.
He attacked Mika with a quick punch that she blocked with a ‘Light Screen’ and I jumped above him with a ‘Tiger Hunt Slash’.
He blocked my attack with his tail and smacked me away.
When I fell, two manticores attacked me with their claws. I used a ‘Tornado Slash’ to push them away and followed it by a ‘Dragon Head’ that I shot toward Adramelech.
He hid behind some skeletons that took the hit for him and shot six glittering dots at me.
Mika intervened and used a new skill called ‘Heaven’s Mirror’ to redirect the attack towards some skeletons who were surrounding James.
With one step, he closed the distance between us shot four glittering dots at the ground and they exploded.
We were sent flying by the impact of the explosion and he followed me and bashed me with several punches.
Mika stood up after the explosion and used a ‘Light Beam’ that was countered by several explosive dots.
The explosion between the two skills created a large cloud that he used to hide his presence, appeared behind Mika, and smacked her with his tail and it exploded.
She was thrown toward the healers and she took heavy damage from the last attack.
I used a ‘Crescent Cut’ at the demon that he easily blocked with the same skill that he used to knock down the light mage. Then, I used a ‘Step Slash’ to get near him and launched a ‘Dragon Head’ right into his body and I landed another clean hit on him.
I took this brief chance to look around the battlefield and saw that my teammates were all struggling, especially after Mika came to help me.
I heard James ordering everyone to fall back and reposition near the healers.
Meanwhile, Adramelech jumped on the back of the newly arrived manticore and flew higher in the sky. He was no longer in reach. Afterward, he ordered his army to fall back too.
None of the manticores was killed. Around a quarter of the skeletons were taken care of.
“Are you guys alright?” I asked them when I entered the healing zone made by Mary.
“We’ve barely managed to stay alive. Those skeletons and manticores are the hardest monsters I’ve fought in my life.” Replied James.
“But thinking that demons are real… This is something that any Awakener should be aware of.” Said Brian.
“By the way, I don’t see Andrew, Kamui, and Edward?” I asked.
“Kamui and Edward went after the boss to kill him. We hope that after killing him we can get out from here before anything bad happens. While Andrew teleported out to get help.” Replied James.

“That’s a good move. We should keep holding them off for a bit longer.” I looked in the direction of the demon army and they were ready to attack us.
“He is making his move.” Said Mika.
Adramelech approached us on the back of the big manticore slowly.
He opened his eyes and we were surprised to see that they were empty. “I don’t need my eyes to kill you all.”
Adramelech’s tail shone like the sun. It was full of glittering dots.
“It is time to die.” He jumped from the back of the manticore and turned his tail towards us. “Infinite hell’s explosion.” The dots shot from his tail towards the whole battlefield.
“Is he trying to destroy everything?” Said Larry.
“This is bad; we can’t protect everyone from this large-scale attack.” James prepared his shield to protect us from the explosion.
The dots came into contact with whatever they touched and exploded. A huge explosion took place inside the plain green area and it became blazing with fire and smokes.
Adramelech’s POV:
“This is the best. I was able to get my hands not only on one Mythological Weapon but also on two. Master Asmodeus will be overjoyed by this. Haha.”
After the smokes settled down a bit. I moved to collect my prize. Suddenly, I felt a presence behind me.
“Your back is wide open.” Said the mysterious person.
I barely managed to dodge the sneak attack and was cut on my back.
I felt huge mana coming from the new person. I could not discern him because I lost my eyes, but with only my high senses, I knew he was a dangerous person.
“Who are you?” I shouted and turned towards the place of explosion and felt more presence.
“Someone protected them. I can feel a shield-like aura surrounding the humans I attacked. They should be dead. How?” I muttered in frustration.
I calmed down and concentrated on my senses. This time I felt a big difference between two people and the rest. Their weapons had a similar aura to the two other Mythological Weapons I have been fighting.
“Two other Mythological Weapons joined the fray. Haha, I am the luckiest demon alive.”
Shiryuu’s POV:
When I opened my eyes, I saw a big back in front of me. The big guy was holding a gigantic shield that protected us from the explosion.
“You are… Mr. Nobura, you made it here.” I was happy and surprised to see him here.
“Sorry for being late, we came here running as soon as we heard about your situation from Andrew.” He said.
The clouds surrounding us cleared and I saw the other Saber Slayer high-rankers standing next to us. Vladimir, Sara, and Nobura came in a hurry to fight alongside us against the demon army.
“So that’s the demon you’ve told me about?” Asked Vladimir.
“Yeah, he is. Although he is weaker than before.” I motioned to his missing arm and eyes.
“You did a good job staying alive against all these high-ranked monsters.” Said Sara.
Vladimir turned to see our states and felt a different vibe from Mika.
“You are also a Mythological Weapon user?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’ve just awakened during this battle.”
Sara turned toward Mika in surprise. “How did you do it?”

“The orb that was inherited through our family was in fact a Mythological Weapon.”
“This is getting interesting.” Smiled Vladimir.
“I’d like to continue chatting and celebrating this news, but our enemy here has lost his patience.” Nobura brought the attention of Vladimir and the rest toward Adramelech who didn’t appreciate us talking and forgetting about him.
Adramelech was ready to shoot us with hundreds of glittering dots. “This time, you will all die for su…”
Before he could finish talking, a message popped up:
“Congratulation on clearing this dungeon.”
Kamui’s POV:
We caught up with the ogre before he entered the forest.
I used an ‘Air Slash’ to hit him on his back to notice us and he stopped.
He turned around and quickly attacked me with his kanabo. I blocked the attack and Edward kicked him on the side.
He did not budge and kept slamming his kanabo while I was protecting myself.
“My sword will break if he continues this way.”
Since I only ranked up recently, I did not have the same stamina, nor the mana pool like Shiryuu and the other Saber Slayer guild members. I barely managed to keep up with them during this whole raid.
While I was deep in thoughts, Edward used everything he had to bring the attention of the ogre to himself. He attacked him with a plethora of skills but the monster was keen on taking me down first.
“I have to do something. I can’t let them down.”
As he was hitting me, I noticed there was a delay in his swings.
‘Edward’s attacks must have hurt him. He is not showing it, but the swings are becoming slower and slower. This is my chance.’
I concentrated on the timing of his swings and when a crack appeared on my sword, I saw a grin on his face and he showed an opening.
‘He thinks he won this fight. This is it.’ Right before he could attack me again with his kanabo, I poured all my mana into my sword. “Edward, get back,” I shouted.
Edward dashed backward after noticing what I was about to do.
“That’s dangerous.” He said.
“Don’t worry, this is the only way.”
As the monster was about to smack me, I used my secret technique ‘Disaster Typhoon’ right between us.
The storm of the thousand blades swooped the ogre from the ground and I was pushed away and crushed on the ground far away.
Edward ran toward me to check on my well-being.
“You scared me there. I’m glad you’re okay.”
“The gears that I’m wearing are resilient and protected me from the impact.”
He pulled me from the ground and we watched the boss monster being cut down by the blades, and then he fell dead after struggling for too much.
Shiryuu’s POV:
When we received the news that the final boss was killed, Brian celebrated out of happiness.
“They’ve done it.” Said, James.
The light descended on us and we were about to get out from this dungeon.
“You’re not getting away anywhere.” The demon stopped his attack and with one motion from his hand, the light disappeared.
“What has happened?” Brian was surprised.
“I overwrote the rules of this place. You can’t go anywhere unless you defeat me.”
“No way.” Jennifer fell o, her knees and her eyes became red and she was about to cry.
“Don’t worry, you have us with you.” Vladimir moved toward Adramelech.
I run after Vladimir and stopped him. “He is my prey. Help the others fight this army of demons. There is a huge manticore there that needs to be taken care of.”
“Can you defeat him?” He asked.
“Yes, I can. I’ll do everything to make him pay for what he has done.” Determination filled my eyes.
Vladimir put his hand on my elbow. “You have him, buddy.”
“Thank you.”
“Sara, Nobura, we will deal with these fodders. Mika, if you can move, come with us, I want to see your abilities as a Mythological Weapon user.”
.
.
“Are you sure you want to fight me alone?” Said Adramelech.
“I am more than enough.” I moved toward him.
“Then prepare to die.” He jumped and was ready to bombard me with his tail full of explosive dots.
“Raimeiryuu, I need your strength. We will do that thing.” I sent a mental message to the old dragon sealed inside the sword.
“Are you sure? You’ve never succeeded before.”
“This time I will.”
“Then I’m ready whenever you are.”
I stabbed the ground with my sword and channeled all the mana I had left in one go into it. I opened all the mana pores and absorbed the surrounding mana and transferred it to the sword. I transferred my consciousness toward the mind room and synchronized my thoughts with Raimeiryuu. I felt my heart racing. The process of absorbing and sending mana at the same time and the same instant was too heavy on my body. I kept only concentrating on maintaining the link between the old dragon and myself.
I felt a sudden surge in power. My body became hotter. My head was about to explode.
Just before Adramelech could hit me with his explosion-charged tail, I drew my Dragon Sword from the ground and a mana aura burst around me and pushed the demon away.
.
.
I emerged from the dust and looked different from before.
“That’s the first transformation. He has done it.” Smiled Vladimir.
I grew giant blue wings from my back. I had a blue helmet that looked like a dragon’s face that surrounded my head with two fangs coming from the sides and my arms and legs became the arms and legs of a dragon.
I felt that I became lighter. The knowledge of how to use this new form was not odd to me. I could flap my wings with ease. I felt that I was brimming with energy.
I held my sword with my newly dragon hand. It was full of blue scales. My legs were the same.
I looked towards Adramelech who did not move from his place. “What in the hell did you do? I’m feeling a different aura around you.” He shouted.
Without wasting time, I flew toward him and cut him in the chest.
“I won’t waste time with you anymore. This is my revenge.” I said with a threatening tone.

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
