《Breaking the constellations》Chapter 14 - Conquering

Gael looked around and saw the injured soldiers. The defenses were strong enough, and because of it the soldiers were doing pretty well. Getting closer, people began to give him strange looks.
“Chirp, chirp chirp….”
He suddenly heard a chirp coming from his shoulder. Looking at it, he could see that Flamy was happily chirping. “What is that strange bird on his shoulder?” Some people asked while looking at him.
Gael knew that Flamy would only be visible to some people during specific times, and he knew that this was one of these times. Flamy looked very intelligent, intelligent enough to understand what was about to happen.
He grabbed the glaive that was strapped on his back, and looked at the soldiers that were defending the camp. The other camps had some degenerates, but this camp had too many!
The majority of the soldiers here willing helped Ron with in order to rape girls and kill as they pleased. Although the camp was well organized, more than half of the ninety something people in the camp were girls that were taken away from other camps.
Gael knew that mercy was one of the things you shouldn’t have in this new world, and merciness was not a good thing. On the last two days, he observed the soldiers as well, and only saw seven soldiers that didn’t rape the girls, they were three older man and four younger guys.
He looked around and identified the seven men. After making sure that he was sure of who was who, he ran toward the camp. “ARHHHH!” one of the guards that were above the wall had his chest pierced by the glaive, and gave his last scream before dying. The soldiers that were around quickly reacted and began to attack Gael.
Gael jumped to the side and decapitated the guard that was nearest to him. The others began to spawn magical attacks over him, but Gael just used shadow steps and infiltrated their ranks.
His glaive danced around, killing people as if they were dried leaves falling from a tree in autumn. He knew that some guys could have been coerced into raping the girls, but what mattered to him was whether they did it or not.
One of the things he hated the most in this apocalyptic world was the darkness of people's hearts. Both men and women were filth to their core, however, he knew that most evil things done by women were nothing compared to what men did, of course these were expectations.
As he killed the guards, Flamy jumped from his shoulder and began to consume part of the souls that were released. The interesting thing is that Flamy didn’t touch the core of the soul, only feeding on its hinges.
He didn’t know the destiny of his sister, as he never even heard of her on any vision. But what he didn’t want to imagine was his sister suffering from the same thing these women in the camp suffered from. Everything in this world had a limit, and even if some people got supernatural abilities and couldn't even be threatened by bullets, everything had their limits.

The massacre didn’t stop until only the seven men and the women were alive. Blood was splashed all over Gael’s body, and he was trembling from head to toe. His body was too exhausted right now. He had tried to kill Ron and expended a lot of mana and concentration in doing so and after the failure still fought the wolves and came back directly to the camp.
Even though some of the men he killed could only be doing what they did because of coercion or because they wanted to fit in the camp, they needed to die to show what was wrong.
These attitudes were necessary in order to keep order in the world. If a girl wanted to sell her body, that was one thing, he didn’t care about what they did with their bodies. But forcing yourself into someone was not acceptable for him. Although he knew that the world was filled with these things, he wouldn’t accept them if he saw them happening in front of him.
After calming himself down, Gael looked around and said. “Some people will arrive in some time to organize the camp. Follow them and everything will be alright. We will not force you to do anything though, if you want to stay here, you’re free to.” After saying this, Gael turned around and left toward the nearest camp, where John’s subordinates were waiting for him.
He contacted the scouts from time to time, and arranged a place to meet. He knew that taking over Ron’s camp would take some time. Everything looked easy, but that was because Ron was not around. Gael knew that if Ron was around, conquering the camp would not be so easy.
Gael looked at the multiple wounds that were around his arm and neck and sighed. The fight was indeed a one sided massacre, but he got some big wounds as well. From someone that was looking from outside, it didn’t appear like that because his armor didn’t have any scratches, and because he was covered in his enemies blood.
Even if the attacks couldn’t penetrate the armor that was protecting his torso, he would still feel the impact done by the skills. If a bomb exploded in front of you, even if you had a shield protecting you from the shards, the impact would still hit you and throw you away.
The same thing applies to Gael. The impacts done to his armor hurt his internal organs, and disrupted his rhythm sometimes. He was pretty sure that if it was not for soul eyes being used in crucial times to stop enemies that were about to throw powerful skills at him, he would be dead by now.
The problem of fighting many enemies was stamina and concentration. Stamina was obvious, as no one could pay attention to their surroundings all the time, people didn’t have eyes on their backs. And concentration was also very important, because even if you were attacking someone, many others would try to attack you from other directions.

He had experience fighting big groups, but most of these fights were done using tactics, and not fighting head-on.
Gael walked into the forest and sat near a tree. After retrieving a herb from his spacial ring, he consumed it and meditated in order to heal. The effects of the herb quickly showed itself, and his body began to be repaired. The wounds quickly closed and his energy was back after half an hour. He got up and went toward the meeting point.
“The effects of the herbs are excellent, but they still can’t compare to a pill.” Gael thought while walking. Pills had an almost instantaneous healing effect, making them the perfect choice to use in battle. Herbs couldn’t be used in battle, as the work to chew and swallow them in the middle of a battle would be too big. A pill could be quickly consumed and its effects appeared much quicker.
He walked for three hours before arriving there. Two young scouts were waiting for him. One of them was a survivor from his original camp, and the other one was from one of the camps that were integrated. “Call for reinforcements, most of the soldiers of the camp are dead, the majority of the survivors are women. There are around forty people.” Gael said while looking at the scouts.
“Yes sir!” The soldier that was originally from his camp answered with respect in his eyes. He had seen how Gael subjugated the other camps, and how great his power was. “Is there any further instruction?” The scout completed.
“No, not for now. Make sure that the survivors of that camp are treated well.” After hearing Gael, both scouts nodded to him. The scout originally from his camp grabbed a shining stone from his pocket and said. “Please send reinforcements. There are forty civilians to be scouted.” The stone disappeared in his hand and a light left it, disappearing on the horizon. After a few minutes, another light came back and a piece of paper fell before the scout.
Gael looked at the communication stones and couldn’t help but be amazed. Communication stones were one time use items, also known as consumables. After being used, they could deliver a message to anyone that the stone touched beforehand. Of course, it could only work if you were near the person at some point, as it couldn’t deliver a message to someone you hadn’t touched with the stone before. They were usually used to specific things, like exchanging messages between scouts.
Some people even tried to use the stones to touch some people and track them, but there was another item which you could buy from the store that could stop them from finding you.
The soldiers arrived after a few hours, they were already close, waiting in the nearest camp by Gael’s order. He guided the squad to Ron’s former camp.
Leaving the forest, he saw that the survivors were already waiting by the gate. While he walked toward the camp, a woman that looked to be around 30 years old, white skin and straight hair stepped forward and said. “Thank you for saving us. I am Nivia, the representative of the woman in this camp. We would like to know where you’ll be taking us next.” She said with a firm voice.
Gael looked around and everyone else was avoiding his eyes. They didn’t even have the courage to look at his eyes. He understood what they were feeling. Even if he had arrived and killed all their oppressors, they thought that they would only go through the same thing after leaving the camp.
He looked at Nivia and said. “You have nothing to worry about. We are forming a coalition to survive the invasions. You should have heard the hint that Monoceros gave, that the camps must unite in order to have a chance to survive, and we are doing just that.” He looked around and saw that the women were still looking at him with sceptical looks, he continued. “Everyone in the coalition needs to work. If you can’t fight you’ll help build fortifications, if you don’t know how to do that, you’ll need to cut trees. Everyone has to work and fight.”
Nivia nodded to him in acknowledgment. Gael knew that the women were most interested in what would be their destinies. They just went through a lot, and didn’t want to repeat the same tragedy again.
Seeing that his answers were enough to the survivors, he walked toward the bonfire. Monoceros sat beside it, with a big leaf magically blowing some air at him. Gael looked at the creature and said. “I want the camp crystal.” Monoceros looked at him and said. “here it is.” it pointed toward the bonfire. The bonfire began to get smaller, as if the fire that burned without stopping for day and night was being compressed. After 5 seconds, a crystal floated to Gael. He stretched his hand and took it. “You already know the rules to what to do with it. Bye bye, see you soon.” Monoceros disappeared.
Gael looked at the crystal in his hand and sighed after remembering how easy it was to get it this time. The process of retrieving the crystal was easy, but if someone that was originally from the camp didn’t want to give up the camp, the crystal wouldn’t form. Gael had to go back many times to camps that he had already passed through to get some ideas out of people's head. But fortunately, retrieving the crystals was the easy part. The real challenge would start now.
