Xavier knocked on the door. Shortly after, a weak male voice allowed him to enter.
Xavier walks into the office.
He looks to the left and right.
On a chair behind a desk, a young man reads a book.
With Xavier's entry, he stops reading.
- My lord, I wanted to look for your Highness.
[I see, reading the book] Xavier hid his disgust with a smile
Frederic tone was normal. If you're a regular person, you can't notice anything.
However, Xavier was a soul of hell.
He could see through Frederic's emotions. He was nervous. Although the surface looked calm, he was nervous.
-The brilliant minds think the same.
-I'm not worthy of my Lord's words.
[Of course, you're not worthy.]
-Frederic, my good friend. I hope this incident did not go outside the library.
Frederic was surprised.
It was the first time Xavier called him a friend.
Xavier sees Frederic becoming even more nervous.
Though he did not know what the young master was thinking, he answered the question with a weird smile on his face.
-Of course, that didn't happen.
Frederic was getting nervous.
Something is odd, it was much harder to read Xavier emotions. Even if he is a special talent, he can not figure out what Xavier thinks. It was like a completely different person.
Every single word, even the banalest, made you deny your existence.
Even if he is a special talent, he can not figure out what Xavier thinks. It was like a completely different person.
It was normal not to feel the emotions of Xavier.
It was easy for him to hide his emotions even without the energy of hell, he could do that in his old life.
In this world to read the other emotions has to release energy in the body of the target.

Xavier can do this only by seeing the person.
Frederic could not feel Xavier's emotions because his energy could not enter his body. It is too weak.
Special talents can see emotions and have an excellent memory, however, they don't have significant energy. You can't accumulate enough energy in your body because you have only opened one point.
Those who use the art of fighting can use energy to intimidate a target, but they can't use it to read emotions.
- The Assistant Frederic is a man who can do anything. Of course, he could not let that happen.
Xavier did not let him speak and start talking again:
-What do you want to do with your life? What are your ambitions?
Frederic did not know what to answer.
-If I'm with Highness, that's all I need.
Xavier puts a big, bright smile on his face.
- Frederic, that's not enough. Every man has ambitions. What is your ambition? What do you want to do in life?
Every word of Xavier was like a song. It made him tell him everything. All his dreams. It was a new feeling. It was a desire to tell him everything.
-I would like to be the disciple of a general, I want to be remembered in books.
- I want a high position in the palace, I want a beautiful woman next to me.
-I want to be a general.
Every word spoken by Frederic was told more and more quickly.
With every word, Xavier began to think it would be much easier for him.
With a big smile on his face:
-You're right Frederic! You deserve all this. And I can give it to you. I can give you a chance to have them.
-You can do this?
Frederic was so excited and have forgotten the addressing formula.

-Of course, I can do that, my good friend. But what would you do for me?
Frederic didn't consider too much. He felt the man in front of him could give him everything.
-Anything! I would do anything!
Anything was Xavier's favorite word.
-Frederic, I can recommend you to a General. Once you have the opportunity, you can do anything.
-Of course, you are a man who can keep his place there. You are a man who can earn respect.
-Of course, I am!
Xavier took his hand inside the coat to mask the mysterious appearance of the sheet.
He thought it would be different from hell, but it wasn't. The person was supposed to want to make a deal, with him and he could take out the contract.
-Frederic, I can recommend you to a general. Instead, I want you, to tell me anything without lying to me.
Frederic hesitated for a moment. He couldn't force him, to always tell the truth. It has nothing to lose. Something told him.
It was a good feeling. He can't force him.
-Friend, I'll accept your offer. I have nothing to hide from you, "Frederic said with a serious face.
-Normal, friend. Xavier said as he pushed his paper.
- Then consider the contract as a reminder of our friendship?
Frederic did not say anything about the contract. It was also great for him. He had proof.
Frederic nodded approval and signed the paper.
The fact that Frederic accepted his proposal was normal. His desire was stronger. He did not want to think too much.
The conditions were all in his favor. He wanted to believe he could fulfill his dream.
After he finished signing, Xavier stopped his smile and with a serious face:
-Tell me everything you know about the one who wants me dead!
Frederic's eyes changed color in black. It seemed a zombie.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
