His sharp sword was pointing on the fat man's heart, his large belly was trembling.
" I have got to say that you managed to pull one over me by baiting the shadow assassins, I lost 3 generals .
But petty tricks can only get you so far, In the end you fell to my mighty sword "
Jamie's plan seemed to be working in perfection, but just as he was about to land the finishing blow on the Kalmar's Lord.... just as he was about to become the first player to conquer a medium sized city, a poisoned dagger came from behind him and reached his heart .
" Argrhhhh, third uncle .. but why ? "
he turned his look towards the man behind him but blood came out of his mouth and he fell on his knees.
The tall man stood behind him wearing leather armour , he had blood on his hands and released his sinister laughter .
He no longer needed to hide his ugly appearance, after all he had finally achieved his purpose .
Jamie's eyes showed anger but he was unable to utter a single word .
the tip of that dagger had almost torn through his chest, not even his high limb regeneration skill could stop the spread of the poison .
he looked around but the other players sworn to him started laughing at his face.
Nobody seemed surprised or tried to help him.
so this was the reason third uncle suggested they attacked with his own forces .
how naive he had been, he lost everything and couldn't even scream out his pain.
" YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS third UNCLEEEEE "
He tried screaming with the voice of his mind but such thing was not possible after all, his vision blacked and he dropped down dead .

As soon as he woke up he experienced a really bad headache .
“ Was that all just a bad dream ? “
He tried to touch his neck but it didn’t feel wet, if this was a dream he would have been a lot more sweaty .
He gathered his strength to stand up but he couldn’t, his left leg wasn’t budging.
“That’s a familiar feeling.....
But the doctor said it should have all been fixed .. Wait “
He tried to look for the scars left by the operation but they weren’t there .
He finally managed to support his body and stand up in front of the mirror but his appearance shocked him even more .
“Shabby clothes and messed up hair .
Who could have pulled such a prank? “
He wanted to scream but couldn’t.
“Did I lose my voice again ? “
Could this be punishment in the after life?
Forced to relive our worst memories.
“Young master cripple, the family head is looking for you “
“Jason , stop it ! why are you calling him young master cripple ? Do you want to get in trouble ? “
“Hahh, what is he gonna do? snitch on us? With what voice ? “
The door was opened and two of his cousins from the branch family entered .
The older one was called Jason and the other one Till .
Both used to suck up to him before the car accident that took the lives of his parents and left him on that state .
Jason pushed him down, slapped him a couple of times till his cheeks got red and then grabbed and supported him to walk .
“You just had to slap him, you’re a terrible person man . How does your heart even allow you do mess with your cripple cousin”
“Oh for God’s sake Till, shut up.
You used to hate him just as much as I do so dont play saint now that he got crippled “
It didn’t take long for them to get to the great hall, Jason and Till were strong enough to grab Jamie with a single hand so he wasn’t even qualified to be dead weight right now .
“Great, my good nephew came . Bring him here and support him to sit next to me “
That voice, it was him ...

The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that.
