Chapter Five – My own path

Reading the description of the book i was extremely happy and at first i wanted to instantly use it but then something popped up in my head: 'What if i learn the {Shadow God Technique} before using the book? … maybe i can get a class special for that technique!' Thinking so me and Violet went back to the village and sat down in a room of the inn.

“I am going to activate my Real life magic in this game “ I told Violet

“ What magic do you practice ?” She asked. ( i had told her i practiced magic before but never what magic because most humans I've met dislike dark and blood magic )

“I don't really think i can tell you... you might dislike me because of it” I told her afraid she'd hate me if she knew.

“I practice magic as well, wanna know what i practice?” she said as if she didn't hear me.

“Yea sure, but i can't tell you my magic...” i said softly...

When she heard me she frowned and then told me :

“I practice Blood magic in real life” I was shocked when i heard that and jumped up. Not scared but excited. And asked “Really ? You're not lying right ?” Looking at my happy expression instead of a frowning one she said “nope no lies i swear, my family has worshiped the goddess of night Nyx for generations and thought me blood and dark magic.” hearing this i was stupefied, i haven't heard any humans ever speak about the goddess of night before, i knew she existed since she was the woman Of the god i worshiped ( Erebus, God of Shadows ) “I practice Shadow magic and also blood magic...” I told her about which god I followed and this time she was stupefied.

After about an hour of talking we decided to go and practice our own magic techniques and make them into skills.

I sat down in meditation and tried to sense all the Shadow Essence Around me with my soul, after 30 minutes or so I finally got hold of a bit of shadow essence and pulled it into my body making it flow through my veins and then into the soul real, located in my brain. Once it entered I got a system message:

Due to your other worldly knowledge you have created a new skill.

What would you like to name it?

I thought to myself 'Shadow God Technique'

After learning Shadow god technique I started making some other skills like Dark Arrow and Shadow cut.

After that I also unlocked blood magic and dark magic control that gave me 1% dark resistance and allowed me to control and shape blood.

After that me and Violet went to the blacksmith only to find out it was closed because it was already night so we headed back to the inn and went to bed.

The next morning I went hunting alone and brought back some rabbit meat so that Violet could use her cooking skill to cook it and make something Delicious. After a nice breakfast I went to the blacksmith again and asked if I could use his forge, he gave me permission. When he saw all the ores I took out he was stunned and just stared at me and Violet.

I heated up the smelting furnace and started smelting all ores to separate the good and bad parts, after 3 hours of smelting I was done with the iron having turned it all into 'Refined Iron' after that I grabbed the dragon bones I had and started using the [refinement] skill on it making it even better material, the refinement destroyed half of the bones however the bone powder could still be used for alchemy so I stored in a glass vial that violet gave me. The black bones were made into daggers and the refined iron into a heavy crossbow

After checking my new equips I gave 4 of the four daggers and the crossbow to Violet.

After I gave the weapons we went to the nearby mountain and went hunting.

Deep into the mountains lived a species of goat called ' Rock horned goat' and it was a level 25 creature so it was perfect for us to kill it so we could quickly reach level 20. After searching for 10 minutes we finally found a group of them.

I channeled dark mana in my hands and created 5 Dark arrows and aimed at the closest [Rock horned goat] and shot them as fast as I could, before it was hit the goat rolled over the ground dodging 3 arrows, the other two hit the goat on his left side and on his ass. Dealing -100 damage each and draining half of the goats health in one go. As I was channeling more mana to make another 5 arrows, Violet shot her crossbow with a silver bolt hitting the goat with another 300 damage killing it instantly. After that the other goats turned to us and started to madly rush at us. As the other 6 goats got closer I aimed 5 of my arrows at the heads of the goats and then shot them.

After shooting the Dark Arrows I quickly grabbed both my [black bone dagger]'s and sprinted to the goats, slashing one of them at the throat and pierced another one's I got a system message. You have dealt a fatal hit to your opponent x2 Not really caring I quickly willed the pop-up window gone and stabbed another two of the goats, Violet shot the last one with her Crossbow that pierced straight through its head making it drop dead.

After killing all 6 goats we both level-ed up to level 19. After another 20 minutes we found a bigger group of goats and this time I tried using my [shadow cut] skill on the group.

A big black 5 meter wide crescent moon shaped shadow emerged before me in an instant and flew at the group of 10 goats hitting 5 of them with 450 damage and giving the blinded status to two of them. After another shadow cut I killed all 5 of the goats before they could even get within 3 meters from me. Violet used her [Rapid Shot] skill which she used along with [Cursed bow] skill dealing lethal hits to all five goats she hit with it., killing the 10 goats our Experience reached 45% so we needed to kill about 12 more goats.

Walking further into the mountain I saw some players struggling with a giant goat presumably an BOSS. Walking closer to the people we waited for the goat to kill them as we could see that they were losing. Player killing is not our style, if we don't get hired for it that is of course.

Five minutes later I saw the last player's head got stomped by the goat and he died....

As the goat killed the group of players he lied down and wanted to sleep, but out of nothing a dark crescent moon came flying to it dealing -400 damage before it could even react, afterwards it saw nothing where the crescent blade came from.

Not even a minute later Violet Shot three Purple colored [Shadow Bolt] which is basically a crossbow bolt made of Dark Mana and dealt -300 damage each. After the BOSS finally saw Violet it's eyes glowed and he charged to violet but as I had promised back in the 'lost mine' dungeon she could kill the next BOSS so I couldn't intervene and only helplessly watch. Although I hit it first the boss was already damaged anyway so it wouldn't count as a solo kill.

Watching violet dodge the Madly dashing goat is fun in it's own right haha. She pulled out a dagger in her left hand while holding the crossbow in her right and rolled under the goat, slashing right through its intestines and dealing a massive -800 damage. After another two shots the boss was wobbling on it's legs and as violet shot a Silver arrow the crossbow's [explode] effect activated dealing the normal -300 damage and an additional -100 slaying the boss by blowing its head up.

“whoaaa that explosive effect is amazing!!” Violet yelled to me while she opened the treasure chest that the boss dropped., inside it were 10 gold coins and a scroll named ''hidden class huntress'

The treasure chest also had some health and mana potions.

After she killed the BOSS the both of us reached level 20 and decided to get our classes now so she activated the scroll she just got and Received a rather surprising message:

You have activated 'Hidden Class Huntress' scroll, Due to your unique skill 'Night God Technique' Your 'Huntress' Class has been upgraded to the Unique class 'Night Huntress'

At the same time I also opened my book 'Forge your Path' and got a similar message: You have activated 'Forge your path' and your class will now be calculated.

Class options calculated:

Blood mage : A magician that can control blood average difficulty

Shadow mage: A magician that can control darkness average difficulty

Shadow Assassin: An assassin with a high affinity with darkness hard difficulty

Shadow God: a combination of the above but with extreme difficulty,

imediatly after i got my claass i scecked my stats by saying “status window"

Both our stats were crazy high! At level 20 we already had over 2000 Hp and Mp. That's like Godly strong!! and our attacks were off the charts, I doubt we would have a hard time fighting a level 30 or 40 BOSS now.

At our class change we also got some new skills, I got : Scythe mastery, Dual Dagger mastery, Shadow bind, Blood moon and Blood blade. Violet got : Bow Mastery, Dual Dagger mastery, Huntress Sense, Dragon Bolt and Bolt Rain.

Bolt rain fired a Crossbow bolt in the air and then made it rain 50 bolts( at beginner level 1)

Huntress sense was a tracking skill that could find the general direction of a target anywhere and was 100% accurate in a 500m radius.

Dragon bolt was a crossbow attack that dealt 600% damage but had a cooldown of 10 minutes.

My blood blade was similar to shadow cut a crescent moon shaped attack but this one did magic damage or physical damage, depending on the opponent.

Blood moon was a passive that increased my blood control by 50%

Shadow bind had a 5% chance to curse a target ( reducing all stats 10%) and 90% bind chance binding the opponent for 10 seconds.

The mastery skills added 10% damage to the respective weapons.(A scythe is a magic & physical weapon. Bow mastery also includes Crossbows. )

Immediately violet and I went to search for some opponents to try our new skills.

The unlucky test subjects were a pack of 'Forest Direwolf' that looked like big wolves with black and gray fur and with a gray mist around their eyes, their levels were between 20-30. the first to test our skills was violet who shot her Bolt Rain in the air and two second later fifty black bolts fell down in a five meter radius killing the whole pack in one go. They dealt around 1000 damage per bolt I think...

Next we found another pack and it was my turn to test blood blade. I cut in my arm and let the blood drip onto the ground for a few seconds to gather enough blood. As the puddle of blood formed I willed it to fly up and into the shape of a crescent moon, then I willed it to me in the magic attack form which made it look like a red stained glass, the solid form was a blood red blade. In the physical form I shot it at the forest direwolves and let the blood blade cut straight through them. All of them were once again killed in one hit.

From killing the two packs all we got was 2% of exp, 2 silver worth in copper coins and 3 undamaged wolf pelts.

For a while we wandered the forest and then we decided to go back to the village to buy a map so we could move to the bigger cities. Btw if you think we leveled up fast that may not entirely be true as there are already 100 players that have reached level 30 and that is because until level 40 the speed at which you can level up is really fast but after level 40 when most players have unlocked their 'wings' it will become a hundred times harder to level up, or so I've read at the beta forums.

The wings will depend on race, class and main attribute ( for mages) for example : a human fire mage will have either red feathered wings or flaming wings while a werewolf like me would have wings that look like flowing darkness or smoke like or something like wings made of blood. And lizard kin would have dragon like wings.

Not that I'm bothered with it as you can retract the wings when you don't use them and they have a flight range, you can only fly at a height of 30 meters from the floor, unless you find a special way to increase that.

Once back inside the village I made all iron, silver and gold into crossbow bolts with small barbs on it, they looked really nice. After processing all ore into the bolts I had 300 iron and 500 bolts of a silver+gold alloy. Each bolt would shoot the barbs in a 3 meter radius if the 'explosion' effect of the crossbow activated. Selling all potions we had we earned about 10 more gold making our collective total : 400 gold coins.

After buying the map for 2 gold coins we set off in the direction of the city called : Seldar City. On the map it said that it was one of the bigger city's in the continent.

The specialties of Seldar City were supposedly their friendliness to all races as they even accepted werebeasts into their city's while most would not, they also had a merchant guild that only appeared in big city's. And of course they also had the adventurers guild and the magic alliance.

The adventurers guild was the one who dealt with people who wanted to become adventurers and gave a lot of good quests.

The magic alliance was an alliance with the mages of all elements and they were responsible for the research and development of magic and technology they were also the ones who set up the force fields around cities preventing monsters to enter it.

The merchant guild is the richest guild and is responsible for all major trade in the continent as well as supporting the magic alliance by gathering funds for the research. They hired adventurers for protection when they needed to transport goods.

The three all needed each other, The magic alliance needs the funds from the merchants, the merchant need the adventurer guild for protection and the adventurer guild need the magic from the magic alliance to keep the towns safe.

Hope you enjoyed it. This chapter was in my opinion a little lacking but thats because I've been really tired ever since i've visited my family. They have too much expectations from me and want me to get grades higher than I'm capable of at school also they keep pestering me about other stuff so when I was there I had to study all my subjects from school, even though I have no school for 2 weeks. I won't be updating tomorrow but I MIGHT release one or two chapters during christmas.
