《The Legend of The Grandmaster》Chapter 8

" Six months passed in this style. "
Today Yu Xiaogang and little Yan were eating steamed meat buns and a dish made of vegetables. It has been six months since they came to the village, and he experienced a satisfying life in the past few months.
Yu Xiaogang trained with his spear for the last six months. Although he didn't make a breakthrough, his spear handling became more refined. He increased the weight of the spear and finally adapted to all of its weight.
Yu Xiaogang imparted all of the knowledge related to the spirit beasts, spirit rings, and even discussed a few topics related to the two empires and the spirit hall. He taught them all they could learn.
Yu Xiaogang did not practice today. Instead, he spent with little Yan and felt very peaceful after spending time with her. After a while, he laid down under the shade of a tree outside the house.
After napping for a while, Yu Xiaogang stood up and summoned his martial soul. The black spear appeared in his hands, and he gently swept the spear and felt like the spear had become one with his arm.
Yu Xiaogang was pleased because he broke through and entered the spear-master realm. The first stage in the spear cultivation according to his previous world. The spear becomes an extension of the arm, and each spear strike is equivalent to an all-out physical attack of Yu Xiaogang.
Yu Xiaogang was excited because he could finally cultivate the foundation spear technique. This technique was the most popular spear technique according to his memories; yet, he felt that not many people could understand the essence of this technique.
The foundation spear method has only one move, i.e., straight thrust with all the strength. It may sound simple, but even after adapting to his spear, Yu Xiaogang could barely thrust thrice with his current strength.

Yu Yan also matured slightly in the last six months. She became more interested in training after learning what he had taught and doubled her training in the last six months.
Yu Xiaogang was gratified with her change, and he saw that simply running would not help exercise her physique anymore and started searching for a physique strengthening technique in his memories.
He found a relatively common body forging method and started writing it in a diary he took out from the soul device. Yu Xiaogang named this technique " Sage physique transformation. " He thought this technique is more suitable for the people in this world.
This technique is divided into three levels, and each level consists of twenty-seven postures. Practicing the first level would increase a person's physique equivalent to a spirit-grandmaster. The second level would raise the physical strength to the peak of a spirit-king, and the third level would raise the physical strength to a rank 80 spirit-sage.
Anyone could cultivate the first level with the help of medicinal baths and consumption of the spirit beast meat for a long period.
Yu Xiaogang intended to give the first level to the children after they successfully awaken their martial souls.
Yu Xiaogang returned to the house and walked straight back to his room. With a single thought, he entered into the space inside the black pearl.
Yu Xiaogang walked towards the divine core and sat cross-legged beneath it. He closed his eyes and meditated for a few minutes to raise his state to the peak.
Yu Xiaogang started absorbing the wisps of energy from the core. The energy moved in his meridians according to the Devouring Codex and entered his dantian.
The spirit energy in his body rapidly increased, and his rank risen from 13 to 20 in no time. He stopped absorbing the energy after reaching rank 20 spirit-master.

Yu Xiaogang used the energy from the divine core to create his second ring. A soul ring started forming above his head, and its color changed from white to black. The second symbol formed on the ring as the age increased to 20,000 years and stopped increasing the age of the ring. He absorbed the spirit ring without any difficulty.
Yu Xiaogang stood up, and two black rings appeared beneath him. The second spirit ring lit up, and a huge dragon's claw materialized above him. His second spirit skill is " Black Dragon's Claw."
Yu Xiaogang's spirit power reached increased after absorbing the ring, and his rank increased to 23 spirit-grandmaster. He exited from the space in the black pearl and returned to his room.
Yu Xiaogang took a bath and walked out of his room. He looked around but didn't find the little girl in the house and saw her sleeping outside under a tree. He went out of the house and picked her up and returned to the house. He gently put her on the bed and covers Yu Yan with the quilt.
Yu Xiaogang left the house and walked towards the village. He met Old Jack on the way and asked him to bring the children early today and walked towards Old Jack's office.
After a few minutes, the door of the office opens, and Old Jack enters with the children. The kids excitedly greet him after they saw Yu Xiaogang sitting inside the office.
" From today, there will be no class. I have already taught you everything there is to be taught. "
Yu Xiaogang said in a calm voice.
Their mood instantly became sullen, and before they could reply, Yu Xiaogang continued that he would call them again after their awakening ceremony.
After the children left, Yu Xiaogang talked with Old Jack and said that he would leave the village tomorrow and go to Nouding city for a few days.
Yu Xiaogang left after chatting with the village chief and returned to his home. He thought that now he could go to the city because his current strength could crush a peak spirit-king and fight against a low-level spirit-emperor.
He entered the kitchen to cook the meal and saw the little girl was trying to cook one herself. He felt amused as he watched her actions and coughed lightly from behind and caught her attention.
He walked over and rubbed her head, told her to sit, and started cooking.

This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery.
