《In New Dimensions Everyday》Glittering Mess 14

Roderick could not believe night had fallen. He had lost track of time while being in the tunnel. Darkness spread more in the forest when he began his search for the forest ranger. Roderick barely could see where he was going. He had stumbled on rocks and roots several times. He only had the light of stars to guide him. And the stars he was seeing were in different alignments. There was not a single recognizable constellation in the sky. He walked like a blind man, touching trees and trusting his instincts till he found a blip of fire somewhere. Roderick knew he was in the right path, so he guessed who the man was behind the fire. As he came closer to fire, he started hearing voices of a man and a woman. He realized they were singing when the distance between him and fire shortened. Roderick could see the house of ranger as well. Ranger and his wife were singing around the fire. Roderick hid in bushes to hear what they were singing. Every word they uttered was of the cipher. They kept on singing it even though it did not rhyme. He came out of his cover when he saw no gun around the ranger. "How do you know this song?" asked Roderick. They stopped dancing. Roderick had killed their smile and joy just by appearing there. "This is our ancestral song, poacher." Ranger sounded drunk, "All they left for their next generations was this song and order to live in here." The treasure is belongs to him? Roderick was shocked. He thought of asking about his gun would be a terrible move so he went with the flow, "Can you tell me about your ancestors?" Roderick sat by fire. "I don’t know much about how they lived. But legends say our ancestors die and turn into ghosts." "Everyone says it." "Ours says it differently. It is as stupid as this song. As far as I have heard, one of our forefathers' soul lives in this forest and the soul salivates when the family member who has experienced miscarriages dies." "Do you believe in it?" "No but I sometimes worry." "Why do you?" "We don’t have children. Some demons came in my wife's dream and killed the baby every time she got pregnant." "What did the demons say in your dream?" Roderick asked her. "It sang this very song." She said. "Do you have pictures of your ancestors?" Roderick asked. "Why do you want to see it?" the ranger snapped. "Because I think I also belong to the same bloodline." Roderick said. The ranger seemed to be sober straight away. Roderick had not thought the lie could be this effective. "I have some photographs of my ancestors. I want to know if you also have same with you or not." "Go in." Ranger uncorked a whiskey bottle, "You will see them on walls." Roderick stood up from the rock and went inside his small house. He found some pictures hanging on the wall. Ranger's gun was hanging near those pictures. He caught the gun without having a gander at those photo frames. He made his mind on killing the ranger. When he walked out of the door, he saw the same ghost hovering near the trees from where Roderick had come. "I can't leave from there but my replicated form can." Ghost said, "Ranger, run!"

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
