《Saga of Osin》Chapter 29

She regains her composure and says, "It was little critters like rats, chickens, rabbits. I don't like performing it on Humans."
I start looking around, where am I going to find a rat here. How do I even capture it? I think Shera understands what I'm looking for, "Don't worry about catching them. We had the knights give us some critters when you were asleep."
That's mighty convenient. It does make sense though. It's a way to test their enchantment.
I get up and feel dizzy right away. I can see things falling away from me but I center myself. I think I stood up too fast.
I find the critters in a cage. I grab one of them and start focusing on the mana in my chest. "Getting started with [Blood Magic] is the hardest part because you need access to blood mana."
"How is it different than other types of mana? Can't you just absorb it directly?"
"No, maybe but the way I accessed it was by coating some natural mana with blood magic. You'll get it when you succeed, just try it with whatever mana you have access to right now. Though, water mana would work best."
I grab one of the cages and sit in front of it. I think the enchantment is proceeding well since Shera seems to be quite relaxed. I'm pretty sure they'll be done by tonight. I'll be done too.
I grabbed the cute little rabbit and got caught up for a second. It's very cute. I close my eyes and focus on the mana residing in my chest. I pull a small thin stream of it down to my hands and infuse it into the rabbit.
Instead, my mana was repelled and it dissipates into the air. I try again for a second time, the same thing happens. I have to be doing something wrong. Maybe I need a 'way' in. I grab a rock and hit the rabbit's leg. It starts bleeding.

I place my index and middle finger on the wound. I guide my mana into it and start pulling it out bit by bit. The new mana travels back up the same pathway into my body.
The little rabbit starts shrinking up until its a tiny husk.
Ding!

[LVL: 0>1]
The dopamine rushes into my brain and I feel brilliant. A tiny portion of that [Blood Mana] leaked into my body and I felt brilliant. I break off a portion and feed it into my body again and the euphoria is inescapable. I can feel strength flowing through my body. I think this is what those crack fiends felt or maybe it's closer to steroids.
Shera sees the shriveled rabbit in my hands and walks over. She grabs the rabbit from my hands. "Did you learn it already!?"
"Yup."
"That's insane. How can you be so fast?"
I just shrug. God knows. It is what it is. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm from a different world.
There's a level of excitement traveling through my body with a wave of disappointment. This spell isn't it since I need direct contact with whoever I'm trying to attack.
"You should know a few things about this spell. a) don't show it to anyone. Try to hide it as much as possible. If a Vein Church-Man sees you performing it, you'll find yourself in a kill or be killed situation. The only reason these knights are tolerating us is cause they need us."
I nod, all of it makes sense. "b) that blood mana in your chest: you need to absorb it before you can try it again. It's the limit on this spell. You can't absorb more mana that's clean in order to use this spell again until you absorb this essence."

This is very informative. It's beyond informative. "How do you deal with the euphoria?"
"I have a skill for that, I'll teach it to you when we get a break but not now."
She's busy and her work is what's going to keep us alive so, I let up.
So much has happened in these past few hours. It feels unreal. The most significant part is my access to that [Create Will] skill. If we can pull off what we're thinking it'll give a huge boost to my strength. I just need the appropriate skill.
I think blood absorption might be it. It's my will.
"What do you mean?"
We don't need to keep this blood essence in your chest. You can send it up here to me.
"That...might actually work. Let me try." I focus on the contaminated mana in my chest and try to think of how I pull it into my body. I keep on trying for more than half an hour but it's different. [Mana Intake] provides me with a reference point, this is the exact opposite.
I try to think of a string pulling up from my chest. It's more like a pipe leading up to that clump of dirt. I push it back up. It takes a lot more effort and concentration but...
I got it!
Yes! This is it. I start shoving all that mana back up there. This just allowed me a work-around the limits inherent to the [Blood Absorption] Skill. I don't need to keep this mana up here, I can just send it up there and use [Blood Absorption] with a much smaller wait time.
At the end of the day, I still need to push that mana back up to that 'spiritual space.' This is a step in the right direction.
You might want to come up here, ASAP.
I'm can feel the panic in that will's voice. This might have consequences.

When I was twenty one I bought my first motorcycle. My only motorcycle. A Harley Davidson XLX, Sportster. Her name is Rohdindae, it comes from the Silmarillion and loosely translates to Horse of the Silent Shadows. We went all over this side of the Mississippi together. To places long forgotten by progress or filled to their capacity with humanity. Interesting word humanity, it means all off human kind in one definition, generosity and compassion in another. How often these two definitions are at bitter odds with the other, is something to be seen. These words are a mash up. Tales of the road. The people I met, stories I listened to, and the loves I saw grow, all find themselves here, mixed within these pages. From Maine to Mobile and all the places in between, where people still, somehow, cling on to the good fight. The only fight worth fighting.
