《I can summon my past lives》45- ‘Hello, Damon’

As Damian opened his eyes, Xerxes who had previously fused with him came out of his body. The lion had a serious look on its face as it gazed at Chronos.
“So? Did it work?” Chronos asked the white lion.
“Hard to say. It was too much information being crammed into his head at the same time…and while it was like he had lived the same life as them, it seemed that there was something lacking that obstructed him from absorbing everything like we wanted.” The Lion said.
They then all turned to look at Damian who seemed a little groggy.
As his mind finally cleared he looked around him to see his mother, Xerxes and Chronos.
They all looked hopeful and it made him embarrassed. Damian still felt no different than the time he went to sleep a few days ago.
Of course he remembered living the lives of his seven predecessors, but it was like watching a moving story. At the end of the day, what he watched and lived had nothing to do with him. It was someone else’s life.
“Sigh…” Chronos sighed, he continued, “We’ll set the new plan into motion. We’ll send the dragon into the very centre of the invading army and have it take care of it for us while we use that time to find a solution. The more time we have, the more chances we have at getting out of this alive.” Chronos said as he waved his hand and the surroundings turned blurry and they all found themselves in the underworld…what remained of it.
There was a gigantic dragon with a body that looked like a starry sky. It seemed asleep, but even in that state, its pressure was so immense that it threatened the stability of the space of the Underworld.

Xerxes then had an idea, “Hey, Chronos, Why don’t we evacuate the Planeverse and hide in some corner of the Chaosverse?”
Chronos shook his head, “We’re as good as dead if we do that. Soon, after it finishes feasting on the soul crystals of the Underworld, it will go for the next worthwhile meal, the Dao Core and then the Tribulation core. If we are stranded outside the Planeverse, how long do you think we can survive without the Dao core? We’ll be powerless and sooner or later, the dragon will still find us.”
“But what if we give Black Fang the mission of protecting us. He doesn’t need the Dao Core, so he’ll keep his powers even if ours disappear. All he has to do is keep running when the dragon is near.” Xerxes said.
“By then the dragon will probably be too strong to outrun. Why are you so afraid? It is just a little death, haven’t you lived for long enough already?” Chronos said.
‘That was just it, no one sane enough would wish for an untimely death.’ Thought Xerxes.
It was then that Damian thought of something and then looked at his mother, “Mom, I gotta go. If I succeed and save us all, please bring me to see father, I wanna see him.”
Diana’s tears came out, “No. You’re only sixteen, leave the job of saving everyone to the adults.”
“Mom, I can’t outrun it even if I want to.” Damian said as he looked at Chronos.
Chronos nodded. He had just read the young Damian’s mind and understood what he wanted to try.
Damian called on the Golden Angel, and a Golden figure that looked like him and holding a yellow sword appeared before him. It was one of his companion souls.

He immediately fused with it and the Golden sword even entered his chest and was also absorbed into his body.
As for the Requiem book that hovered around him, he recalled it into his soul space.
Damian looked at the white lion and then at his mother for one last time before he closed his eyes as Chronos snapped his fingers and then Damian turned into motes that quickly fused with the Dragon.
Damian only thought that there was a deeper meaning to what was happening.
For example, how could a man with so much luck be so unlucky to the point of even losing his mind completely to become a beast that knew only how to eat forgetting his friends and family.
From what he understood, Empyrean Saint Sons had so much luck that they rarely lacked anything.
Their luck was so potent that just by being close to them, even mortals could bathe in their glory for a long time.
And that was just being close to them, but what of having the chance to touch them…then you’d turn into the luckiest person alive. Even if by some luck you died…yes it couldn’t be considered a misfortune anymore in this case…you’d find your next life more enjoyable than the one you’re used to by going from a life of slavery to a life of royalty and riches and even having the luck of becoming an immortal.
“No, there has to be a way to end it all, I’m sure of it.” Thought Damian as he arrived in the furthest corner of the dragon’s soul space.
In there, he could see a white haired youth that looked roughly like him sitting cross legged and his eyes closed.
It was Damon’s main soul from which Damian had been created.
Damian’s soul stopped a dozen meters away as he felt that if he went further, then he’d have to fuse with Damon. The call on his soul to go back where it belonged was too strong to ignore and control. He could barely resist the urge to just fuse with it from where he stood.
With a smile that wasn’t a smile, Damian said,
“Hello! Damon.”
