《Unfettered Path of the Slayer》Chapter 6 - Tiger Cub

Chirps of birds and insects reverberated through the vast forest of towering trees. Krad is walking through the forest as light of the sun setting appeared over the trees. The lights seemed to turn the leaves into a flaming patchwork of colours; scorching yellows, lava-reds and burnished-browns. It added an alien glamour to a perfect scene. Krad can't help but admire the scenery. But a loud, screeching cry suddenly resounded not far from him. '?!...It can't be that bird again right?!' he thought to himself as sweat ran down his face. He remembered that savage woman with a long, sharp katana. He shuddered upon thinking that they might be looking for him. 'Fuck it. They want a fight? I'll give them a piece of this young master's fists!' he said to himself as a flashing light of killing intent appeared within his dark golden eyes. He clenched his teeth as he swiftly dashed towards the direction of the screeching cry of a bird. .. Within the forest of gigantic trees, a 2-meter tall black bird resembling a raven is hastily flying as it seem to be chasing its prey. Its movements fast, as it threw shards of black light in succession to the small figure that is running on the ground below. SCREECH! The black bird screeched and small black light spun in front of its beak. Black mist enveloped the black light as it slowly grew bigger. The black bird inhaled deeply and blew fiercely, showing a spectacle of a black laser beam. BANG! A direct hit! The small figure below growled in pain. It seems that it had been dealt a serious injury. The black bird descended to the ground as it screeched mightily, seemingly proud about its victory. The black bird slowly walked towards the small figure.
.. As Krad dashed forwards, a few yards ahead of him, He saw a flying black bird chasing a small figure on the ground below, throwing shards of black lights in succession. 'A black bird?' he thought as he sighed in relief. A battle with those fiery duo would cost him a lot if he fought them. Thankfully, it's not them. Growl.. Krad's stomach rumbled as he saw the black bird. "Hehe." he said as he licked his soft lips. Krad chased after the bird hastily. He gawked in surprise when he saw the bird blew a black beam of light. Explosion accompanied the beam as it landed to its target. Krad kicked the ground as he dashed in full throttle. A few meters ahead, he saw a black bird slowly walking towards a small, injured figure. That figure seem to be a tiger cub. Its fur pitch black and yellow stripes majestically covered its body. And a pair of small wings also protruded on its back.
But that cub is grievously injured!
Upon seeing the winged, black, tiger cub, he felt a strange calling within him. Krad didn't hesitate as he clenched his teeth and dashed forward--raging winds following him. Black mist enveloped his right arm as it coagulated into a thin layer of pitch-black, eerie, negative energy into the skin of his fist. His fist became extremely dangerous as it emanated an aura of death. Krad kicked the ground as he flew forwards.

"Shadows of darkness, spirits within. Harness the energy, let it begin! Draw down the moon. Bring me the shadows. Heed my call, and strike them all!"
After chanting a spell, a small, black, magic circle manifested in front of him as he let out a resounding punch mid-air. A black beam of light raged out as it shot towards the black bird. BANG! The head of the black bird exploded as clouds of black smoke shrouded its body. It then slumped on the ground, deader than dead. The tiger cub stared dumbfounded.
But its eyes suddenly turned sharp as footsteps are coming towards its direction. It couldn't help but meow ferociously towards the incoming figure. Upon seeing the figure, the tiger cub felt a strong feeling of familiarity towards it. The cub then meowed as if it had finally seen its mother. It walked forward, staggering, then slowly slumped on the ground, unconscious. Krad hurriedly ran towards the cub. Upon seeing its grievous injuries, he immediately did a series of hand signs and murmured a chant. White lights emerged from the surrounding and slowly enveloped the tiger cub. This is a healing magic. By drawing the divine elements of light from the surroundings, it could tend wounds, heal diseases, and further down the line, it could even revive a lifeform! But Krad only knows elementary magic, so its effect is only mediocre. Fortunately, the healing is taking effect, albeit very faint. Krad removed his overcoat and wrapped it around the cub. He heaved a sigh of relief as it seems that the condition of the cub isn't as serious as he had thought. Krad scanned the surroundings, and concluded that there should be a lake nearby. Beasts will come eventually as blood was scattered everywhere. 'The more, the merrier!' he said to himself as he grinned. He gathered thick vines and tied it on the bird's feet. He carried the black tiger cub on one hand and pulled the carcass of a bird on the other, leaving a trace of bloody marks.
He went to the shore of the lake and cooked the meal. .. Nightfall descended to the forest. The moon hung above. A bonfire crackled nearby the lake as a man sat in front of it. "Shuperrrrb!" Krad let out a cry of satisfaction as he had eaten his fill. He brought out a two, large, folded pieces of paper from his pocket and gazed at the contents. These are the maps of Aursun Continent and the central continent he had bought before. "This continent is truly large. This is just the central map, but it's comparable to all of the continents on Earth combined! Truly outrageous!" he cried out in praise as he studied at the contents of the two maps.
The Aursun Continent is preposterously large. It has four incredibly wide mountain ranges, four absurdly deep seas, and two vast wilderness. 'This should be the Tree Mountains Forest. It's located west of Godblade Kingdom.' Allwill City is located within the Godlbade Kingdom. Thus, it's the center of the Aursun Kingdom! "Sigh. I'm at the central, but Arceuss Duchy is located at the Easternmost part of the map." he said in frustration. Upon studying the map, he noticed that there are no vast wilderness in the central continent. He scratched his head as he wondered why. He had only travelled for 1 day before arriving to the central continent from the vast wilderness he had trained in. But there are obviously no vast wilderness within the central map. He clicked his tongue and heave a sigh of helplessness. He suspected that it must be the old man's doing. He folded the two maps together and shoved it on his pocket. He had decided to leave the Tree Mountains tomorrow and head back to the Godblade Kingdom and ride an airship to the East part of the Aursun Continent. Sleeping on the grounds is very prone to dangers, so he climbed a tall tree and rested on a very thick branch. He held the black tiger cub with both arms to his bosom as he shut his eyes, keeping alert at all times. ..

The moon hung above as city lights illuminated the surroundings.
Travelling by foot would take a day from Tree Mountains Forest to the Godblade Kingdom. A man with a long, black, ponytail hair is walking on the street amidst the crowd of locals. He's carrying a small figure, wrapped in overcoat. It seemed to be a father carrying his little baby. The man walked in front a small building, with a wooden board on top of it's door. 'Wendy's' "This should be a restaurant, right?" he said as he opened the door. A merry atmosphere filled the restaurant as he entered through the door. The place looked akin to a adventurer's tavern. Wild laughter resounded as the costumers enjoy their feast. Krad sat down on a chair, placed the winged, black, tiger cub wrapped in overcoat beside him. And ordered something to eat. Sounds of blabbers could be heard from the surrounding. "Hey, did you know that the Sword Fairy is getting married?" said the bald man holding a glass of beer.
"Eh? That's just rumors!" said this other bald, brown bearded man.
"No, it's true! I heard from the guards at the gate that their princess is finally getting married!"
"Ah! I'm so envious! If I could only marry a woman like her, I would gladly stop drinking alcohol forever!"
"Eh? You'd go that far? Err.. then if I could marry a woman like her, I'd stop eating roasted chicken forever! It's my favourite after all!"
Krad overheard their conversation and giggled. Marriage affairs, huh? Suddenly, an image of a silver haired beauty appeared on his mind. He shook his head as that woman simply isn't meant to be married, because she's very, very dangerous! "Right, right. Rumors said that the Ice Demon Giants of the North had attacked again! They said that the giants killed three Arch Mages and captured the Blackfrost Territory!"
"What?! Three Arch Mages?! Too strong!"
"Yes! Rumors said that the Mage Council of Aursun Continent only sent one Magician to deal recapture the territory!"
"One?! Just one?! Who did they send?"
"Arch Mage Silva! They said that he successfully recaptured the Blackfrost Territory! But that isn't the most surprising part! They said that he enslaved all of the Ice Demon Giants within the territory and made them the guards of the gates!"
"WHAT?!" said the brown bearded bald man as he slammed his palm on the table in surprise. Krad overheard their stories as he shook his head. He doesn't know the people they are talking about, so it's pointless to listen to them. He wolfed down his food, and pulled a card from his pocket and paid the bills. This card contains the currency of this world. It's similar to cash cards from Earth. The old man gave him this card as reward for completing his previous tasks, prior to the last. Krad carried the tiger cub and departed. Walking through the streets, Krad headed to small building with 'Inn' written on a wooden board and rented a place to stay for the night. He was pleased with the room. It has all the things he needed, such as bathroom, clothes, etc. So he slept in satisfaction. .. Within the hallway of the Inn. A man wearing a flower designed wrangler shirt, a ragged short pants and a geta sandals walked staggeringly, drunk. This man is bald, and has a long, fancily braided, white beard. It's actually an old man! The old man paused in front of a door. He gazed at the number on the door.
'210'
The old man raised his foot and kicked the door. The door slammed open as the human residing inside jumped in surprise. "Wakey wakey, kiddo! *hiccup* Ahaha, the look on your face! Ecks dee!" laughed the old man while hiccupping in the middle of his sentence. "YOU F*CKING OLD FART !!"

I was Summoned as a Hero, but I Became the Demon Lord Instead
"Ah, how I wish I could be summoned to another world." I’d always thought of such a naive wish of escapism would never be granted. However, shit happened and I was somehow summoned. However, in some strange twist of fate, I was no longer needed and disposed of, but that’s okay because I didn’t want to be a summoned hero to begin with. My new beginning may have been abruptly cut short, but even so, that is fine. There is a path I’m much more interested in. Mwuhahaha! Cough cough cough. Though, my sinister laugh may still need some practice. I was Summoned as a Hero , but I Became the Demon Lord Instead Volume 1 Word Count: 108K Including Volume Exclusive Content Available on Amazon Edit: If you don’t get the timeline that’s because the rate at which time flows in different worlds are not equal. In addition, timelines do not neccesarily run parallel to each other, they may cascade such that when summoned to another world you may get summoned from a different reference frame in the timeline of another world’s with respect to your own. Scientific constants can change from one plane to the next. The natural laws that govern each world is not necessarily the same across them all. Some may display similarities, while others may be the complete opposite where rather than aging forwards you actually age in reverse. Newborns could be born elderly and withered, but when they are born into the world, their body regresses towards death in reverse.

Fallen
Hundreds of years ago, the servant god Elsyn declared that they would destroy humanity entirely, explaining it as their duty as humanity’s peacekeeper. When the gods saw it fit to send someone to oppose the fallen servant, Iztris—the gods’ own servant and follower—visits Cheryn. Iztris requests the aid of Alyson and Jacob, the oldest two heirs of Cheryn and the only ones given the gods’ offer of the ‘assurance of victory,’ and the heirs agree. There will come a time when humanity does fall—but none of them would allow that to happen by the hands of a being just as flawed as mortals. I recommend reading the story by volume, instead of by the order the chapters were posted. This story was beta read by Mad Sadie. Many thanks! Please note that some characters use different pronouns depending on the chapter’s view and the speaker. Iztris, for example, is referred to with neutral pronouns by Elsyn (in most cases) and themself, and after being introduced as such they are referred to with male pronouns by Alyson and Jacob.

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment. The Creature from the Dark (HIATUS)
What happens when the protagonist of a story isn't even remotely human? This story is about a fairly intelligent but ignorant creature and the chaos brought into its simple life by the first encounter with humans it has ever had. I intend to take it fairly slow. I hope you enjoy it. :)
