《Cultivation Bug Fuyo》Chapter 9 - Not so fast!

The beetle continued to devour its way through the crowd. It started shooting flames from its horn. Then it would use earth magic to bring the roasted bees towards itself like a conveyor belt. It was a very efficient method of hunting.
10 minutes passed and it managed to eat more than 5,000 red and white bees. If this went on then they would all die.
At this point a voice was heard from inside the village.
"PISS OFF!!" A powerful voice screamed out and shook the earth. The force behind the voice broke the spiritual pressure emitted from Sai the Rhinoceros Beetle. This gave the bees the ability to move again. They quickly flew into the air and streamed back towards the village, hiding safely behind the barrier.
The red bees felt the pressure alleviate from their bodies too. They quicly escaped Sai's suppression zone.
"Damn that Yuwaku! He's only a sergeant yet he dares to treat us privates and corporals like fodder?" The red bees were furious at Yuwaku but due to their different military ranks they would never have the chance to dispute his actions.
The elders would ignore their complaints.
"Urrrghhh..." Sai grew visibly afraid from that shout. He turned around and started to run away.
"Where do you think you are going?'' Snickered a voice in contempt. This voice seemed to come from nowhere, it wasn't Yuwaku that said this but someone from behind him.
"Are you going to let the little bees walk all over you?"
Sai stopped his movements. Visible sweat fell from his black shell skin. He turned around and yelled "Hueeerrrrrrr!"
His provocation worked.
Sai dug his massive legs into the ground like a tree taking root. "Hueeerrrrrrr!" This roar was many times more powerful than any other but it was unable to bring the bees back down to the ground again. They continued to flee at top speed.

Seeing this scene Sai grew offended "Mere bees dare to run from me?"
The flame and earth energy globes burst and grew many times more powerful. The charge of energy caused ripples to appear in the air. It was like heaven and earth was condensing onto the tip of his horn.
The more that the power condensed, the more Sai's body began to shrivel up. It looked like he was using 100% of his power which was affecting him physically, causing all his body fat to burn rapidly. But it was barely noticeable because his shell concealed most of his body.
The flame and earth melded together forming an even stronger lava energy ball. The heat was so intense that the grass began to wither.
"Hueeerrrrrrr!" It roared like a dragon as a condensed molten lava beam shot from its horn. It turned the surrounding 100 meters into a lava pit. It looked like the inside of a volcano. The beam shot forward and drenched more than 50,000 bees. The bees that were hit melted away along with their weapons. One by one they let out screams of pain but nothing could save them now.
One could only imagine how terrifyingly hot the lava beam was.
Sai moaned and then fell to the ground completely exhausted.
The man who provoked Sai before flew forward. He seemed to appear from thin air.
"Your strongest attack and you only managed to kill 50,000? We don't need trash like you..." He flew onto Sai's head, lifted up his leg and stomped down on it.
Crack, crack, splash!
Sai's skull cracked and then his head exploded into bits and pieces. The surviving bees felt their heart sink when they saw this.
Sai was so powerful yet he was killed in a single move by this fearsome man.

Unlike the bees, this person was conniving and intelligent. Every time they summoned Sai they would have to pay him an exorbitant price. Even the tiger-eye spirit stones he gave to Yuwaku for the summoning formation were worth a considerable sum.
He waited until Sai used up all his magic power and then killed him.
Fuyo is already acustomed to these sorts of battle tactics so he wasn't surprized. But what surprised Fuyo was that this person was not a bee. He was a human!
This human could fight head to head with Sai but he would exhaust a large amount of his energy and might even suffer some injuries in return. So he used this round about tactic to kill him.
This world is a cruel and merciless one. You let your guard down for one second and you could find yourself strangled by the cold hands of death.
Fuyo learnt a lot from this battle, he thought magic power was endless but it obviously wasn't. That's why Yuwaku didn't participate in the war. He saved his strength in case things went wrong; he preserved his power so he could flee. What a coward!
Now Yuwaku had lost his position as the most notable person on the battlefield. There was a new mysterious figure and this figure was incredibly powerful.
This powerful new person wasn't much bigger than a bee. Either this human was really small or bees in this world are really big.
Yuwaku looked at the new figure that appeared. This figure moved extremely fast, "C..C...Captain Deddo!"
"I didn't expect you to come out personally. I could've handled them you didn't need to..." The Captain cut him off.
"I've been here the whole time, watching from the shadows. Originally, I wouldn't have come out but now the situation has changed."
A serious look was hung on Captain Deddo's face. "Princess Kaguya, I didn't know you had returned to the village. I offer my sincerest apologies on behalf of the Blood Demon Sect. Everyone retreat. NOW!"
His voice spread across the entire battlefield, the force seemed to shatter the air itself. His voice was so powerful that the sound waves were actually visible! The sound spread through their bodies awakening their senses. His words seemed to contain a secret power, it made the red bees blood boil and they were visibly faster.
It was similar to Fuyo's Boiling Blood technique except this was applied to an entire army!
This guy's power is no joke.
This was a buff spell but this instantaneous burst in strength came at a price. The bees would be bed ridden for 2 weeks while they suffered in pain from its aftereffects. Once the bees felt the spell envelope their bodies they knew this was no laughing matter. The spell was only used as a last resort, it was a last ditch effort for survival.
The 900,000 plus blood demon bees swarmed in all directions as they fled in a panic.
Then that voice sounded out again. The same voice that made Sai wet his pants and made the Captain come out from hiding.
"Not so fast!"

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

My Isekai
For those not familiar with the isekai genera, this story is about a man waking up in an unknown world. The story follows his journey and life in this world, which does not only look different on the surface, but the common norms and values of this world are very alien to the modern western mindset. How will this average western person respond to such a world, and how will it change him. For those familiar with isekai, this is a western take on a predominantly Japanese story format. It draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese isekai, but it also tries to tackle a lot of tropes that might be annoying to the western mindset. The story is not written for young boys as the story tries to take a mature take on some typical clichés and assumptions made by both the typical writer and reader of the genera.
