[Please Choose a Reward]
The system was rewarding him for having defeated these weak goblins. Gray laughed at obtaining a reward so easily.
“Whatever this reward is, something is better than nothing”
Would any normal person be able to beat these goblins? Any other person would have likely died the first second. Gray was only able to beat those goblins because he trained in martial arts while growing up. He started remembering a few memories from that time.
“Looks like all that training saved my life”
Martial arts was not just a way to get stronger, it was a way of life. It taught discipline and composure. Many of Gray's ideologies were built from his time training martial arts.
“What is really interesting though are these stat points”
After Gray had put those three stat points in strength he could feel the difference in his body. It felt like his entire body could do more.
He had leveled up three times while fighting those goblins. He even levelled up once more for clearing the ‘dungeon’. He now had nine stat points left to distribute.
“Where is the dungeon?, didn't the gate disappear after the goblins came out?”
The only logical conclusion would be that all the monsters living in the dungeon came out of the gate. After defeating the goblins, the system recognised it as clearing the dungeon. This implied that those were all the enemies in that dungeon.
“Whatever it was, I’m glad that there wasn't an entire horde of goblins that came out of the gate”
It would have been difficult even for Gray to hold back a large number of goblins. After all, he couldn't dodge all of their attacks, that would require a lot of stamina.

Gray walked out of the narrow path and into the hospital again. He did not want to get caught moving around, the hospital believed that he had several broken bones. He couldn't explain this entire scenario to them, it was necessary to keep it a secret to not attract attention.

News all around the world had spread of so-called monsters in the southern district. The monsters had killed five people until they were eventually captured by the military. Needless to say, the public was in a panic.
A young man with a large build was standing on the sidewalk in front of a group of several reporters. The man was dressed in a blue suit and black pants. His muscles were bulging out making it seem like his suit would tear any second. He had a very intimidating look to him.
“Where are these monsters coming from?” a female news reporter asked
The man was tying his long hair in a man bun as he heard the question. The female news reporter blushed as he met eyes with her.
“We franky do not know, we are investigating the origin of these monsters and how to defeat them”
The news reporters noted down on a piece of paper. Then someone else asked
“What happened to the monsters captured from the southern district?”
The man instantly had a look of terror in his face. He had a difficult time these past few days after the appearance of these creatures. However, he had one memory he wished he could erase.
The military tried to communicate with the captured monsters in order to collect information. However, the monsters showed no signs of understanding and were constantly trying to attack them. Hence, the military decided to kill the monsters, however, they couldn't. Any method they had tried was rendered useless. From punching, stabbing, to using guns. Nothing seemed to work, they were at a standstill. In fact, for the last 12 or so hours, the military was still continuing its constant efforts; they had reached a point where they were trying many brutal methods such as burning the monsters alive.

The man being interviewed was one of the top heads on the military, Thomas Filler. Although he had seen many brutal things from his time in the army, all that he saw yesterday was something he still couldn't get over. Many of his colleagues used a lot of methods to kill the monsters, however, nothing had worked.
‘Those creatures, they scare me’ Thomas thought
The reporter noticed that Thomas looked like he was fazed out, so she then started to repeat her question until she got cut off.
“I cannot reveal that information at the moment” Thomas said as he walked away.
There was no reason to ensue further public panic by revealing that the military couldn't kill the monsters. It would only cause issues if such information was made public.
As Thomas walked away one of his colleagues walked towards him and whispered something in his ear. His eyes opened wide.
“What ?”

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.

The releases for this one will largely follow the same pattern as the main project Avine. One chapter every friday for foreseeable future). 09.29.18: Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be piecemeal, and progress made likely around holiday times.
