《Peacekeepers (COMPLETE)》46

We head in and Whiskey opens a thick door, revealing a market haunted only by whispering. My jaw drops, "Holy shit." Nick murmurs at me, "Welcome to the black market." Whiskey marches in, "Stay quiet and follow me." Nick slowly shuts the door as I whisper, "Why here?" Whiskey walks us up to some steps, "You both need to relax."
I wince as Garvey blocks my way up the steps, How does it feel, letting me in?
I halt, gritting my teeth at Tango looking back, "You okay?" A cold chill comes over me as I slowly move up the steps, "It's so cold in here." I collapse and they both rush to me, "Shit!" "What the fuck's wrong with him?" They drag me up the steps.
I retract my blade and smirk, "You really thought you could stop it, Gladius?" He shouts, "I won't let you destroy what I made!" I grab his arm, "You think you have a choice? Void sends his regards." He gets up and punches me through a wall. I get up to find that he's gone.
Zero crawls in on all fours with severe burns, "Please master! Forgive me!" I smile and pet him, "Don't worry, I've got a job for you." He screams as I dig into his back with my hand.
"What's wrong with him?!" The doctor shushes me, "His medical background ain't a secret. He was diagnosed as a psychopath with schizophrenia months after the world went mad." My eyes widen, "He may seem nice and all, but he's the most dangerous person in this whole market." I stare him down as he lays on a cot, "Miss, why aren't you afraid of that man?" I smile, "Despite all that, he tries to make the world a better place."

Whiskey glares at the doctor, "If they die or disappear, you die. Understand?" He smirks, "They'll be fine, no organs'll go missing either." I sigh and get into a cot across from Nick.
I hunch over as she whines, "Do you even care that Fox died?" I sigh, "I caused so much death and nothing to show for it." She gets up and sits down with me, "Is what he said true?" I look down, "They got it wrong-"
You know counseling doesn't work.
Shut the fuck up Garvey! I grit my teeth, "I can't rid of it, the thing that keeps telling me to quit or suffer."
She hugs me, "Stop doubting yourself." My voice steadies, "If only it were that easy, I can't shut him out or get rid of him and you think I'm some nutjob." She squeezes tighter as I sigh, "I wanted to create a better world, but I can't."
She giggles, "If you can take down a cult all by yourself, we could take on the entire world." I smile,
Hey! She's only saying that. She doesn't care.
My smile grows crooked, She's right, tonight I'm gonna destroy you. I dunno how, but you gotta go. I'm tired of your bullshit.

Three Hundred Years After The End Of The World
Three hundred years after the end of the world as humanity knew it, the gears of an old plan slowly begin to move again, as a group of self-imposed reincarnators, along with their equally unlikely companions, gather once again to set things right... but does the world they plan to restore need, or even want, their help? Follow the misadventures of an eclectic bunch of genius misfits as they attempt to assemble and fix the world they accidentally devastated in the past. ~~~ Author's note: This is actually the first volume of a novel I wrote nearly a decade ago for the VNDB discussion boards, taking inspiration from the random off-topic ramblings that characterized the golden age of the community. After sevear years and countless rewrites, it is pretty much unrecognizable, but while it is not fit for professional publishing (due to the fact that several fragments and older versions are still out there on various forums and blogs), I decided it is a waste to just let it sit idly on my hard drive forever. As such, I decided to share it somewhere where people could maybe appreciate it, so here it is.
