《A Glimmer in the Dark》Prologue

It Begins.
Near the summit of a mountain covered in green, the winds howl as they pass through a hollowed hall that cuts the whole lenthg of the of the base of the mountain's peak.
The wind was not the only sound, as water drips from cracks in the ceiling and walls of the hall and the water slowly trickles out of the hollow in small streams. Even the minute sound of plant roots cracking stone could be imagined as the green enters through both holes.
Between both openings of the hall is an indentation in the rock, the size of which could be comparable to a grotto for a statue, though in this case, there was a stone stand that had an ovate shell, the size of a person, with cracks running all over its surface. Across it was a mirrored indent in the stone which was of the same size but instead of a shell, a semi-circle shape was there and was coverd in curved rectangular tiles, some as wide as a dinner plate and some as small as a palm mirror, and scralls of script in between them.
"zhzhzhzhz" the sound of light snoring and deep but slow breaths came from a hole where the cracks converge over the shell.
A presence stirs within and the shell slowly breaks like a dried cocoon falling away, readying for what's inside to come out.
The hole gradually grew and to reveal a face which showed signs of awakening as small twitches signal the opening of its eyes. The skin of it was cracking and flakes peeled off and give way to the supple flesh around the pair of eyes.
A mismatched color were in its pupils that had their gaze fixed outwards. On its left was an obsidian lens with flecks of gold and the right had a silver lens with bronze fleck and both had a metallic radiance shinning through. Both eyes were set on a face with gentle features, that were neither masculine nor feminine.

Shifting its torso upward, a pair of hands move through the crumbling shell to grip fimly on the edges of the oval and the eyes continue gazing picking out details in the walls, on the floor and all around the ovate plain it was resting on as it saw etchings and odd shape in the gray stones. A gray layer of cloth clings to the form like a second skin and covers the nape of the neck and ends in a "v" shape just before the colar bones.
And as it moved it legs near the base of stone, the shell peeled away and as it set its foot unto the stone floor. The gray "skin" covering it down to its ankles and had lines running throughout it that gave off a sense of support while accenting the androgynous form.
Ridges and gooves run acroos the whole floor and walls and converge on the bed of the figure and a closer look into the lines reveals glints of gold running through them all. The lines themselves follow both an organic shape with a controlled growth and direction, like a gardener would help set vines to direct its growth to a desired form.
The figure stood up and turned to face the remains of the shell that was slowly turning to dust. Bumps could be seen comming out of the floor around the reclined stand where the shell once was. There were also "vines" moving towards the bumps clustering together and radiating outwards again. there were even some that were left clumped on the are where the shell was before that might have been covering its surface.
Symbols were all around the floor, on the bumps and the surface of the vacant seat and the figure wondered what the symbols were for as it, curiously, already knew what they were called "Runes" though the meanings to them escapes it.

The figure shrugged away such thoughts as its gaze rested on its self, just two arms and two legs, and a lean but muscular form could be seen from its veiw towards its abdomen. Again the figure showed little hints of masulinity or femeninity but gave out a sense of athleticism that balances speed, strength and flexibility.
Picking a direction at random, the figure made its way to one end of the hall. The darkness did not bother it and the light at the end the hall gave of a welcoming feel. Then it found the metallic shine from its eyes growing stronger with every step it took moving ever closer to the opening as a bright light was seemingly radiating from its gaze.
The brilliance rose to such a level that it even rivalled that of the sun and a pillar of light shot out from where it was standing as eight other pillars of light were "sprouting" all throughout the planert.
A strong and calm voice entered its thoughts "Welcome to your new home, progenitors"

It Started with Slime
Before we jump in, let me say that the MC starts stupid, so the language and writing style is straightforward to reflect this. The writing improves with the MC and as the chapters progress (I hope). It is also a gradual growth story, so no zero to hero in ten seconds... with that out of the way: An alchemical experiment has gone wrong and results in a Slime Monster. It doesn't have a name at first and is something that it will need to work out! This story follows a Slime that starts as a Micro Slime with some level of consciousness, and there is more to it than meets the eye. Survival is the name of the game. To improve, it works hard to grow, evolve and become more powerful to survive its harsh new reality. There is a lot more going, and only time will tell if this Slime (all its various versions) can become strong enough to make it through the strife to the other side. It's a harsh world, after all. It Started with Slime is a story with a Monster Protagonist Evolution story. There will be no profanity and no sexual content, and there will be some violence and fighting descriptions. I am a native English speaker, and so the English here should be to a good standard. That said, even though editing, there may be some corrections and typos, so if you see some, let me know! If it bothers you a lot, I am working to make sure all chapters have no typos, but of course, some might slip through. I will endeavour to correct any picked up, though! Also, I started this a few months ago and so any feedback is always appreciated, also reviews and ratings! If you like or don't like the story, let me know in the detailed reviews! That always helps me see what is good and what needs improving. Working on releasing chapters twice a week, I will try to increase that as time goes, but at the moment, that is what I can release. Patreon has more. If the story gets more popular, then I will increase the releases. I am aiming ultimately for a chapter a day if I can get to that. Chapters are roughly 1500 words, with Interludes every five chapters being more or less than that! Enjoy! Edit: Book 1 finished on Patreon, and the format for Book 2 is slightly different with Interludes every three chapters, and the release schedule will be three chapters a week. Mobius
Far in the future, humans have thoroughly colonized space through the use of floating colonies and artificially replicating the Earth whenever possible. Most of these endeavors have gone well, with humanity spreading across the universe like the seeds of plants floating in the wind. Yet still there lurks the great mistake, the endless station of Mobius, a megastructure which hasn't ceased its building in over a century. Dante, a man living in this megastructure, is tasked with the recording of stories told by criminals, particularly those who travel between strata. One day, a prisoner is captured claiming to be Captain Pluto, an infamous criminal thought to be fictitious by most scholars. Even more curious, he claims to hail all the way from Stratum 56, a location so far away from Dante's Stratum 999 that it would take lifetimes to traverse such a distance. Dante must discern whether or not the story is false or true, and the longer he lets Captain Pluto speak, the more difficult his task becomes. *****Average chapter length will be 10k words give or take. This isn't a very serious story for me. I'm writing this to blow off steam. Updates will happen infrequently because of this, and it will most likely be unpolished unless I begin to take it more seriously.
