《A Glimmer in the Dark》Chapter 6

Glen and Felnar were systematically checking all the crates that the armor and weapons were pack into. The ones Glen were checking had the mark of the smithy, the long ear over and anvil with a hammer and below it was a heater shield divided into 4 with checkered arrangement 2 kinds of horns, spiral horns and antlers, and 2 kinds of hooves, split and whole. While Felnar simply had the same kind of boxes and smithy mark but the crest below it was a reptilian eye in a triangle made of three lizards.
"Can you believe all that crap!? I mean look at the stuff you tried." the bunny girl said as she picked up one of the spears Felnar was packing. "At least the Khar are a bit more mild with the decor." using the spear to point to the mace that was a plain and simple 8 sided bludgeon with a point in the middle and the upper half of the handle having a 'scaly texturing' as her other hand traced the same kind of texturing on the shaft of the spear that had a trio of scales where the metal met the wood.
Felnar just appreciated the challenge of adding artistry without impeding the equipment's functions, well for a reasonable price.
"Dad doesn't really mind the stuff, you share that bit with him about being paid the right price, also the bit about 'looks are only secondary to function'. Mom might like this though. She might even laugh her ass of and roll with the lame jokes, maybe even add some off her own terrible puns." Glen remarked with an almost defeated tone.
Felnar grinned as he heard his co-apprentice and sister make a remark that just showed how well she knew him. He then turned to the older bunny that was checking off and marking out the equipment they were crating. "Hey Dale, that reminds me, where is missus Greyfoot?"
"Thought you'd already remembered this by now, she's with the twins back home taking stock of the leathers and padding. Both of you gotta get the fresh batch cause the shop is running low after the recent orders." Dale gestured to a small cart in the corner of the room near the back door, said door was a plain looking hardwood piece on the surface but was reinforced on the inside and covered a metal frame.
"You kinda forget dad that this metal freak only really pays attention to all thing metallic to smithing, ore acquisition and refinery next, armor and weapon designs next, then how they are used and function next, and only after that would he consider leather and cloth ---"

"And only after all that do I worry about looks and other peoples business" Felnar finishing Glen's expounding of his priorities, the lady bunny just shrugging and a small grin on the elf-dwarf's face.
"Fair enough Carrots. Go take the chest out, its near closing time anyway, and tell Clare I'd be home shortly after closing shop." Dale gestured for them to go ahead.
Glen jumped unto Felnar's shoulders as he was standing up from putting down a crate and Dale just shaking his head seeing the two.
Felnar ducked through the door leading to the shop part of the smithy and Glen jumped off and made her way to the corner under the counter and picked up a loose plank while taking out a key. Felnar was used to this sight and just received the planks until a chest covered in chains was revealed as Glen put the key she had inside her inner pockets into a lock on the chains. The chains fell off in a neat pile as she turned the key and Felnar picked up the chest and moved back to place it on the cart that was already out the backdoor as Dale held it open expecting them.
"Damn this thing is heavy." the young lad said as he hefted it unto the cart and Glen placing herself to the front of the push cart.
"That's why dad hardly uses the thing. I mean we could manage to get it out with the two of use but it's nice to have someone else pull it out." with her sleeves rolled up the bunny girl flexed the toned muscles as she pushed the cart with ease.
The chest Felnar took out was about a meter long from left to right, two-thirds a meter tall and also two-thirds a meter wide from front to back. The 'strong box' was reinforced with iron bars on the inside and the outside and the whole described with just one word would be 'secure'. The secret to the box was the spatial enchantment it had that functioned as a transport and storage item that was a quintessential item to traveling merchants and store owners as it negates the weight of the items placed into it, though the item does come at a price that only wealthier merchants and nobles might be able to afford, with having a premium kind of engraving and limited amount of these storage items.
"Hmm... So we did use up that much of the leather and linens." the young lad said more as a statement than a question. "Well its good to go home once in a while."

"Yeah, Rush was so annoying without you around but at least mom's got him busy with other stuff." Glen huffing lightly at the end of her reply and a sheen coming of her face as she continued to push.
"Don't worry I'll be the one to push it back." Felnar said as he used the end of his sleeve to wipe off a bit of the sheen away from her forehead.
The strong box's spatial enchantment allows for the space within the chest to increase by a hundred times but it can not completely eliminate the weight of stored items, only decreasing it so instead of carrying the full weight of one hundred pieces of armor you only carry the weight of a single piece. The weight of the chest is more than that of the usual ones of the same size because of the reinforcements which are there to protect the delicate engravings as these inscriptions lined with special materials are gravely delicate. Another factor which limits the chest, is the need for the enchantments to be charged with energy on a weekly basis lest the enchantments deteriorate in efficacy or fail completely, spitting out its contents with relative force as the storage space collapses.
A whole half hour passed as the two reached their destination, all the while engaging in small talk with their thoughts on what the gear they made would be used for and what other orders might they get in next.
The house the reached was plain and unassuming which was two stories tall with white wall and wooden beams and windows and wooden slats for a roof and slightly wider at that top than in the base much like the others of similar residences in the neighborhood.
Felnar knocked on the door as Glen caught her breath and a quick moment passed as an older bunny with slightly lighter grey fur opened the door and took a quick look before saying, "Oh Carrots and my girl." Then the older bunny with the shoulder length ponytail was taller than Glen but a little shorter than Dale saw the cart before continuing, "Ah, yes. The leathers and linens. Rush! Lily!"
"Hey, mom." was all Glen said as she hugged the lady bunny and the resemblance hinting that she looked more like her father than her mother.
Shortly after the call of the name anothr bunny, younger and a little shorter than than Glen, followed out from the inside of the house. Then saw the two and jumped towards Felnar, which he then caught and proceeded to ruffle his hair.
"Hi Flare. Hey Rush.'" came out as Felnar was holding the smaller bunny boy that had the same black hair with white tips that was similar to Clare's but his was kept in a short cut.
And another bunny girl followed that had the same fur and hair as Flare and was it as tall as Rush. She meekly smiled while seeing both Glen and Felnar. Her gaze softening and lasting half a second longer which both Glen and Felnar had noticed. She then looked at Clare while gesturing for them all to get inside.
Felnar, now putting down the chest at the back of the kitchen near the cellar door while Rush jumped down from his shoulders. He then took a seat at the table with Clare across him and Glen at a seat to his side.
"Rush could you start putting in all the pieces we've finished. Only take those bundled and tied together." Clare said
"Yes mom! I mean ma'am." came the reply with a quick salute and zipping right down the stairs into the basement.
"Lily dear could you get some chilled juice for these two." were Clare's words as the bunny girl nodded and went down to the cellar as Rush zipped past her and came back with a pitcher and two cups that she gently set down on the table and sat primly to Felnar's vacant side of the table.
"Have a breather while Rush gets to packing the merchandise up." Clare said as she poured the contents of the pitcher into the two cups, not minding her other daughter shifting her chair closer to the young lad.
"Thanks." the two said in unison.
"Dad is still finishing up so he'll be home after we bring the materials there." Glen spoke, not minding her younger sister pushing her head into Felnar's hand that was lightly patting it.
"Hah! I already know how much of a workaholic he is. We were partners in crime since he asked your grandpa for lessons in smithing, even back then, I was the one in charge of cloth and leather pieces." Class said with a laugh and tone of reminiscence as a grey bundle of fur picked up something that cluttered unto the floor.
"Careful don't rush too much." Felnar spoke with a concerned tone and Rush just skilled not minding the pun.
"Don't you damn start with that!" was the threatening response he got from Glen.
