《This world is strange》Chapter 52. Problems on the road

They travelled the road for one more day when they had problems. The day started as always, but when they stopped to take a rest they had uninvited guests. From the hill they came from they heard screeching. They saw three more black drakes with people on their back. They wore full plate black armors on themselves and their eyes glow red under the helmet. Catherine shouted at the people around herself.
"Everyone go to cover. We'll take care of this! Joseph protect them while I fight with these black knights!"
She shot magical arrows at the flying monsters, but they dodged most of them and even the ones that hit barely made a scratch on their body.
"This is going to be a little problematic!"
As the three drakes got close they opened up their mouth and they breathed black fog out. Catherine held her staff up and a blue shimmering light appeared around her. It held black the black fog, but she still vanished inside of it.
Joseph meanwhile escorted everyone away from the place and readied himself for the fight. He concentrated half of his manna into his wand and was ready to shoot down at least one drage in needed, but it was unnecessary.
From the black fog a blue beam appeared and beheaded one of the drakes. It fell down from the sky, but the armored figure jumped down from it before it landed. Then four blue balls that were as big as a baseball shot out from the fog. The drakes dodged them, but the balls turned back and hit them in the head from behind. All of the drakes fell down dead. Now it was only the three figure that was left.
They started to move towards Catherine, while the fog dissipated. They drew out their swords from the side and shields from their back and charged at her. But before the first one could've strike it got a magical bullet in it's head and fell back. Joseph shouted happily.

"Yes I got one. Two left Catherine."
The two standing one started to attack her, while she deflected their attacks with her staff and magic.
"That wasn't enough. It is still alive! Be very cautious with it, I can't help you right now!"
"What do you mean?"
The one that fell down started to stand up. It did not have it's helmet on and instead of head it had a black mist that had two glowing red eyes.
"What the hell are these?"
"These are armors possesed by dark spirits!"
"How do I fight them?"
"Destroy it's full armor!"
Meanwhile speaking Catherine stroke one with her staff and it's chest armor blew up into pieces. It fell back, but after a few seconds it started to attack her once again.
Joseph took away his wand and take his sword out and concentrated some manna in it. The one creature he attacked ran towards him and he barely parried it's attack. It was so fast that he barely parried all the attacks and got cuts all over his body. One of the strikes was stopped by his armor when he finally got a chance to react.
As he attacked the thing used it's shield to deflect the attack. Exactly as he anticipated. He released all the manna in his sword on the shield and it blew up. They flew in different directions from the explosion. The creature's shield got broken into pieces and Joseph's sword got cracks all over it.
"This is not good! If I continue like this I'm going to brake it!"
He took out the spear of the goblin which he had on his backpack and looked at the armor that just stood up and started to run towards him. It's left arm was missing just like the shield, only a hand shaped dark mist was there. Joseph concentrated mana in the spear and threw it at the running monster. The monster hit the spear in the air with it's sword. The spear blew up and it fell on the ground once again. It's right hand was missing as well, while it's sword was on the ground next to him.

Joseph started to run towards it while he concentrated all his leftover mana in a sphere in his right hand and threw it at the creature which tried to stand up. The spell hit it's chest and blew the whole thing into little pieces. Only a human shaped mist was standing in it's place. It's eyes narrowed and let out a loud shriek. It was so loud that Joseph's head ached.
"Stop it!"
As he shouted he did not hear it anymore. The creature started to dissipate into the air and it had a look like, we'll see eachother later. Joseph shivered from the thought. He looked at Catherine and saw her finish the last monster off and looked at him as soon as she could. She let out a sigh.
"It seems like I was worried for nothing."
"They are problematic, but until I can keep distance it's not a problem."
"Yeah. It seems like one is not a problem for you. Seems like I still need to get back a lot of power because two of these were problem for me!"
She laughed awkwardly.
"Seems like it!"
Joseph walked to the sword that the one he destroyed dropped on the ground. When Catherine noticed it she shouted.
"Wait!"
But it was too late. He already picked it up and the world went dark for him. He saw a window show up.
Alert!
The item you touched is cursed! It will make you go through trials and if you fail you'll body will be taken over by the soul trapped in the sword.
