Joseph did not know it himself.
"Just leave the mines and we won't kill you."
Joseph walked out and left the two behind. Catherine went after him.
"What are you doing?"
"I don't know. I just didn't feel like killing them. I mean... As far as we know they did not kill anyone. Let's just baricade the hole in the mine and report the case."
Catherine shrugged and followed him.
They walked back to the hole and used a rope made from magic to climb out. Then Catherine used a spell to make the part of the mine with the hole collaps.
She spoke to the miners about the giant cavern system below the mines and suggested that they should not mine in that way. Fortunatelly it was only connected in one part of the mine and they had other parts to mine out.
After everything was done, they got a cart from the miners to return to the city. They had to bring the cart back to the base in there. It was just a minor task for a few coins, but it was easier for them to return to the city with the cart then just walking.
On the way they stopped to eat. They made a campfire and started cooking some meat. Meanwhile Joseph got an alert about being watched once again. He looked around and saw nothing.
When they started eating he felt something weird and looked at the campfire. Just in time to see an arrow hit the middle of it.
The fire exploded and smoke covered the surrounding. They both covered themselves in a barrier as soon as they could.
Joseph felt like there was something that attacked him from the back so he turned around and saw an arrow fly towards him. He did not even try to deflect it, because he had the barrier on him, but the arrow flew right through it and hit him.

His vision became dark and saw nothing. The place where the arrow hit him did not hurt at all and as he checked it, the arrow was not there. But he was not at the camp either.
It was a cold and empty dark place, without light or smell. He made a ball of light, but only saw black ground and darkness outside of the light.
"Hello!"
His voice echoed through the place.
'Is this the place where I met Charles?'
He started to walk, but felt dizzy after a few steps, so sat down.
'No this feels different. It is cold in here and I feel like someone is watching me!'
He looked around, but saw nothing. This place felt like he was alone, but someone was standing next to him at once, but he could not see it, or touch it.
He felt tired and slowly closed his eyes. Then opened up them immediately.
'I can't fall asleep! I have to keep walking!'
As he was walking forward he felt the world turn around him. After a few more step he was so dizzy that he fell to the ground. But he was not falling downwards, but upwards.
After a few seconds he felt that he fell on a soft bed and got tucked into it. The feeling was so soft and comforting, that he couldn't resist and felt asleep.
