《Heir of the Dragon》Chapter 8

In every step of the way, Mel realized better that he made the wrong decision. But instead of returning and changing his clothes, he wanted to test himself by moving forward.
"It was happening in the cave, why is it not happening now?"
In fact, there was another issue that depressed him. Although everywhere was as green as his eyes could see and he was surrounded by trees on all four sides, he could not draw energy from any of them.
These plants were not docile-minded like those in the cave, and whenever he wanted to interact with them, a sharp bitterness got stuck in his mind.
"Why do you persist? My intention is not to hurt you. I just want to get stronger!"
When Mel hit the first obstacle he encountered and began shouting through the quiet forest, most of the birds resting on the branches took off with a fright. But that was not the reaction he expected.
It was not just birds that communicated with him. A pair of red eyes spotted him through the trees. Then it began to follow Mel, always keeping the distance at a certain level so as not to make his presence felt while accompanying him along with the endless circles he drew.
"This is not going to work. I have to calm down and take small steps!"
After a half-day of travel, Mel sadly admitted that the century-old trees did not even deal with him. So he decided to go into meditation and begin to interact with younger shoots.
By leaning his back against the wide-bodied centuries-old sycamore, he closed his eyes. The energy within him slowly moved forward to find the roots that would accept him.
Passing gently by the giant roots, that seemed impossible to communicate, for the time being, he touched young saplings. The first reaction of the plants struggling to exist in the wild was to deny him.
Not daunted, Mel continued to experiment, enduring the pain that suppressed his mind, until he touched a root weaker than himself.
“Okay, someone really contacted me!”
Mel was so excited. He was subjugating a living being by using his own weak energy, which he barely managed to control. His shirt swelled by the beating of his heart. He wanted to absorb the energy of the sapling he interacted with right away.

"Don't kill anyone who hasn't entered the killing cycle!"
Mel, who was passed out, shivered as if he had been thrown into icy waters. The words, the cornerstone of his grandfather's legacy, made him open his greedy eyes.
After a moment he saw that his feelings were not only because of his grandfather's words but also because of the big claw that landed on his face.
"You rascal!"
Mel has swung aside and the trunk of the tree, where he was just leaning on, was decorated by the trace of claws as sharp as a knife.
It was the merit of a pair of eyes that had been watching him for a long time. Staring at Mel, the breathing wild beast pricked up on all four legs.
His worst nightmare was back. One of the creatures who tried to kill him on the night his village was slaughtered was standing before him, showing the sharp teeth in its mouth that it opened wide.
“Since you attacked so insidiously, you must be on your own. Otherwise, your herd would have already surrounded me!"
Since taking his grandfather's inheritance caused a giant leap in his consciousness, Mel, assessing the situation of himself and the enemy, quickly took his stance by making this deduction.
As he started his new life, Mel was not going to run away and hide like before. He wanted to give a lesson to the creature in the killing cycle.
Was all the training with puppets for nothing? He wouldn't miss the chance to test his achievements and the things he learned in real life.
Besides, his enemy did not seem to let him go. It kept waiting on its forelegs, which it broke slowly and then leaped forward like a harpoon.
At the same time, Mel sped up towards it. The first collision happened under the beat of the birds returning to their branches.
As the scent of blood mingling with air hung over the tranquil forest, drops splashed onto the dense vegetation on the ground. Apparently, one of the sides was injured at the beginning of the clash.
"Very fast! Not like fixed puppets!"
Looking at the bloody incision along his back, Mel was encouraged by the whispers coming out of his clenched teeth. The agility of the wolf, which had a gray fur standing on end, but the little boy at a disadvantaged position against his first living rival.

“Isn't this an education too? How can I look at my grandfather's face if I get so scared at the beginning of the road? "
One of the features that distinguished humans from other species were that they could draw strength from their intrinsic motivation. If the wolf was injured in the first blow, he would definitely think of running away, but Mel stared at his opponent to be worthy of his title of Inheritance.
The creature, which seized the advantage, did not hold back. He was seeking to ingest fresh meat without losing the momentum of the first bloodshed.
When it dashed towards Mel with a nimble move, it did not get a response this time. The little boy, who realized that he was weak while moving, escaped from the blow by swinging sideways.
He was confident in his strike power. But when it came to his movement skills, he was like a desperate puppet and his opponent was like a man who was capable of moving.
The wild creature noticed Mel’s situation. Using its speed and agility, without allowing Mel to breathe, it put pressure on him by attacking one after another.
The struggle turned into a war of endurance. This was what the wolf wanted. Its animal instincts have undoubtedly constituted the base of its movements.
Although it was a fact that Mel, who received the inheritance, progressed mentally, his body had barely developed a bit. With each passing second, his movements slowed down and the number of cuts on his skin increased.
The inevitable end came blatantly. Staggering and falling on his knees, while running away from the attack, was the last straw.
The creature rushed forward to benefit from this situation and moved towards its goal as the soft neck of the boy it had been chasing for half a day stared at him with all its juiciness.
When Mel turned around with his last energy and wanted to protect himself, an unexpected thing happened. Through the dense vegetation, a branch stretched out like a whip and wrapped around the wolf's leg, which was rushing towards its prey.
The moment the animal stumbled and lost its momentum, it shouted a bitter howl towards the sky. As it closed one of its eyes, there was a trace of a three-striped dragon paw on the other side.
Mel had made the hit that his grandfather did which wiped the whole village off the map and destroyed the huge mountain that stood behind it. Although it was far from having the same effect, Mel had made it.
This victory was the first one he had by using his grandfather's legacy. The process, which started with his grandfather’s warning and the final hit he made with the help of the plant he interacted with, was thanks to the man who took care of him.
“Grandpa, you are still protecting me! I promise you. I will not do anything that will disgrace you! ”
Mel was a mediocre boy for his age. With his body, speed of thinking, determination, and docile nature, it was very difficult for him to find a place in the wild. But no one could dare to test his loyalty.
The words he just spoke came from the depths of his heart and they were said for his grandfather whom Mel would never stray away from his path no matter what happens.
"I must run away immediately. If the herd hears, I cannot escape!"
After Mel, who collapsed due to his intense physical and emotional state, managed to recover completely sometime later, something stuck in his mind.
That thing was the act of his opponent before it died. The wolf howled before dying. When the wolf realized that it was going to die, it summoned its flock to the place where it gave its last breath to get revenge.
The skinny boy got up in a panic, dragged the heavy body, and moved towards his only shelter, the cave where he received the title of Heir.
