《Heir of the Dragon》Chapter 36

There were few people inside the building. Mel crossed several empty rows and sat in one that had some viewers.
During this time, a pair of eyes on him watched his every move carefully. As the young boy sat down, this person turned to his right and spoke to the man watching the test with interest.
“Hanry, you've already got the kid! This is what would be expected from you!”
The man, who took his long beard in his palms, watched with a smile as Grumpy Hanry was looking at the stands after these words. At that moment, a young voice joined the conversation from his left side.
“After all, he is a commoner. His limits are apparent. He's exactly the right student for Master Hanry!"
Louise, the young Master of the Gloove family, was still keeping his arrogance. He wouldn’t put a wrong foot as the third officer of the Plant Department.
"This is not the time and the place Louise. You will not argue in front of the Alchemy Department!"
When the old man warned his deputies, Hanry saw where Mel was sitting. It was seen from his face that Hanry was not expecting to see him here.
“Mel, how could you get in? After learning the rules at the door, we were very afraid that we would shame you!”
Apparently, some other person was also aware of Mel's presence. Edgan was walking towards Mel by swinging his light blue outfit to spite the night.
"At first, I was surprised too. But when I showed the guards the badge of the Senior Master of the Plant Department, Master Hanry, they presumed me as his student and let me in."
"What did you say? Do you have the badge of the Deputy Head of the Plant Department?"
"Yes, so what?"
“What do you mean ‘so what’? Do you know what kind of treasure you are carrying? The thing you have in your hand is a key that will open almost any door within the Green Shadow Academy. There is no need for a test. The master has already chosen you as his student!"

Mel finally understood exactly what the badge in his hand meant. Meanwhile, a voice rang out in his brain.
"Brat, I didn't expect to see you here!"
Hearing the sound, Mel turned his head like a puzzled duckling from one side to another and searched for Master Hanry. Soon, he found Hanry laughing with his mouth wide open for the first time. He could hear his voice, but it was evident from his gloomy gaze that he did not know how to respond.
“Right, you don't know the sound transmission. If you transfer your energy to the badge in your hand as if you are transferring it to a plant, you can talk to me. This is how we can communicate wherever you are in this settlement!"
He slowly took off the badge of Grumpy Hanry and did what he was told.
"A friend of mine is taking the test. I came here because she invited me to watch!"
"Show me which one!"
Mel searched the test area quickly and found the table where Marvina was sitting at. On the table, there were a variety of potion bottles, a stove, and a small boiling cauldron.
"The girl in a red dress with two round buns."
In the place where candidates for the test were present, there were many girls in red dresses. In fact, almost all of the participants were girls. Among them, it was only Marvina who had a double bun. It didn2t take long for Grumpy Hanry to notice her.
“You flirtatious, brat! What lies beneath your naïve appearance?"
Grumpy Hanry's tongue was boneless. When the sound transmission reached Mel, the burly young boy's face turned red.
"It's not like the way you say. We are just friends!"
Mel's voice transmission became intermittent when the color of his face matched with the color of Marvina’s outfit.
“Come on, you rascal! You found someone like you next to you as a friend. Look around, you are surrounded by the students of the Alchemy Department!”

Master Hanry's smile spread across his face. Mel was busy confirming whether what Hanry said was true.
He was not lying. The benches that were empty when he first came were full now. Moreover, there was no empty seat left at the front and the back.
His strange moves attracted the attention of the girls who were students of the Alchemy Department, and they did not hesitate to criticize this situation among them.
"Is that ugly boy looking at us?"
“I can't see the face of the kid next to him because of his huge body. Like a bear, it blocks my view!”
What he had heard was not pleasant. He pared down his shoulders and closed himself to the outside.
“You got it wrong again! They are not here for me, but only for my friend next to me!”
“Do you really think I am that naïve, brat? You have to be blind not to see that they are chasing the attractive male next to you. But do you want me to give you a little lesson about the Alchemy Department members?”
Hanry's voice sounded odd. It had a slightly playful and angry tone.
"You will do exactly what I say, or forget about entering the Plant Department!"
As Mel was listening to Grumpy Hanry with full attention, the surrounding voices began to be louder gradually.
"He's still sitting shamelessly!"
“You're right, look at this! The Plant Department officials looked there and muttered something. He is pretending to know someone and is trying to deceive us!"
“Let's go and get him up! By the way, we can meet the other handsome boy!”
Four of the older girls stood up and walked towards the place Mel was sitting. Judging by their talking, their target was the burly young boy.
“Mel, get up right now and bow towards me with a flamboyant salute. Make sure the people around you can see my badge!”
Grumpy Hanry’s voice was harsh. The young boy had to do what was told without saying a word.
He jumped up, leaned forward as if his waist was broken, and saluted the place where Grumpy Hanry was.
"Look at that fool. When he saw us coming, he got into the role!"
One of the girls, who had nearly reached Mel, spoke with laughter. But after a breath, the color of her face suddenly changed.
Grumpy Hanry, sitting in the place where Mel saluted, made a gesture by raising his hand to show that he saw Mel's salute.
At that moment, not only the people around but all the people in the audience stand focused on where Mel and Edgan were.
As this action had attracted the curiosity of some people sitting right next to the Plant Department officials, a man in a black cloak squinted and began to speak:
“Hanry, who is this young boy? I see him for the first time?"
When the man's words were finished, a woman with a deep cleavage who was sitting next to that man spoke with laughter.
"He must not be mentally fine, especially since you greeted him!"
Glass tubes in the trial area shook slightly due to the lightsome laughter. Everyone was waiting for Hanry's speech.
“That boy? He is not someone very important! He is the person who equalized the record I broke a hundred years ago in today's Plant Department test!”
It was as if time had stopped at that moment. Grumpy Hanry's voice walked around each row in the audience section until it came out of the large hollow and reached the dome-shaped ceiling.

Lucas imagined himself doing grander things in life; after all, he put in his own blood, sweat, and tears, and got himself a master's degree in English. Maybe he'd be the next best-selling author, or maybe the most popular late night TV show host. However, life didn't give him anything more than a management position at the local burger joint. Then after one night of drunken revelry, he found himself in an unfamiliar world, but he knew all the gimmicks. He knew these stories had quirks he could manipulate- he could put all his stats into magic and become the best wizard in the world, or he could dump all his stats into strength and become a veritable warrior. But once again, just like Earth, this new world seemed to have different plans for him. Instead, he was given a luck stat of 0 and a skill that forced him into danger where there should have been none. Why is this nerdy, magical paradise trying to kill him? Content warnings are there to give me some creative legroom later. There's not an excess of any gruesome content in the story, and what is there is tastefully sprinkled in. This is a LitRPG.
