《Shadow’s World》54. Can't kill It

I walk into the cafeteria and walks past Jake. His friends were helping him off of the floor. A rock comes from behind him and hits him in his head. He falls back on the ground with this friend falling on top of him. This isn’t like me. Why am I so angry with this person? I am acting like Erica not like myself. He brushes off his head and looks towards me. I shrink my shoulders and walk to get some food. “Your so call sister has signed your death certificate. 6 vs. 1 this isn’t going to be a fight but a one-sided beating. Yet, even after fighting my group your sister has the nerve to think you two can beat the entire school. The elder Jessie is behind me. I will make sure you and your sister cannot run away from this fight. We are going to finally put your arrogant family back in its place!” He yells as he is being held up by his friends and leaving the cafeteria.
My team walks up to me with worry and some arrogant faces. Wendy touches my arm. My heart starts pumping, deal with it Alex. Do not run away or pull your arm away. She looks at me with a concerned face and asks, “Are you sure you can beat the entire school by yourselves?” I pat her on her head. “Do not worry if we work together I bet we could beat an elder. This school is easy with the both of us work together.” Michael snorts, “You two cannot beat the entire school. Hey, if you two morons lose can I trade teams?” I look at Michael and smiles. “How about we make a deal? If we win then you can be trained by Erica for a week.” I put my hand out. He looks at me and smiles. He shakes my hand.

I start laughing out loud. I put on a grin and say, “Team you think I was bad Erica makes me look like an angel. He is going to be the perfect sacrifice so you guys would never second guess my training ever again. HAHAHAHAH!” I sit down and start eating my food. My team stands around for a while and they start to leave. Perry sits beside me. “Alex, I have a question? How do I get on your sister good side? It doesn’t seem she likes me very much and how do I get her to change her opinion about me?” I sigh and look at Perry and replies, “Just stay out of her way. She isn’t going to ever like you. She doesn’t like many people and once she hates someone she will hate them forever and if they change.” I pat him on his back and go back to eating. Perry leaves the room as well.
I got up and leave the cafeteria. I wonder what I should do for the rest of the day. We will get back to training tomorrow and there is nothing really to do. I still rest my body as well so, there is no reason to start training today. I walk back to the room when the intercom comes on. “Ladies and gentlemen we are going to have a scheduled fight 2 on the same day. Alexander vs team Jake and Alexander and Erica vs the entire school. Those two think the rest of you suck and can’t fight. They also said that if they win these two fights the whole school must bow down to their greatness. You guys are going to bow down to their greatness? They still haven’t gone on any missions yet. While you guys were working hard trying to find fairy users and fighting them. They were on vacation relaxing. They are laughing at you. So rise up and beat them. Show them that they are too arrogant for their own good. The fight will be held 1 week from today get ready.”

I sat there listening to Elder Jessie speak that nonsense but I bet Erica did say some of those things. Ugh, why get them even more riled up? Wee, it doesn’t matter. “Hey, Alex what are you going to do today. So far it has been a very fun day.” The spider asks. He starts crawling down from my head on my face and went to the desk in my room. I look at the spider and sighs. How can I get rid of this monster? “I forgot you were even here what do you want?” The spider starts making a web on top of my desk. “I am just here waiting and having some fun. Your sister is an interesting person wanting to fight the entire school. I cannot wait for that fight to happen. Question is anything else is going on because I rather sleep until that fight. A week of rest would do this old spirit some good.” He looks at me while making a bed in the web.
“It should be boring. How about you stay asleep forever?” I try to freeze his web and him at the same time. The spider took the attack and it did nothing to it. It didn’t even freeze the web behind it. The spider signs and climb on tops of its bed. “Alex unless you can freeze the entire universe at once then your powers wouldn’t work on me, it is ok I will be here waiting for your fight. I will leave you alone for a week so do your thing.” The spider stops talking and takes his sheets that he made out of the web and covers himself. I walk to the desk and covers my arm in stone. I slam my fist down on the spider. My hand stops before I could hit the spider. There were strings protecting the spider. I took a string in my hands and try to tear it. Nothing happens. I try burning it. Once again nothing happens. I try cutting it with the wind. Nothing happened. I move my hand away from the web and look at the spider in disgust. Why is he so much more powerful than me? He is the reason my parents are dead. Why can’t I get some retribution?

A D&D Gamer in Garweeze Wurld
He doesn't know how he got here, and while the trappings are familiar, he doesn't actually know where he is, either. From the perspective of those around him, Duromar is a half-ogre barbarian, an uncivilized brute by any standard you care to use. But from his perspective, he's a character created in a gaming system. From either one, he must live within the rules of that system. This is the story of a gamer who ends up in a game that's just a bit off from what he knows. ---- I wanted to write something a little bit old-school. Most of the LitRPG I've found seems to be based on computer RPG styled stories. Progression through levels is fast, and depending on the game, skills and even attributes can be trained with or without class levels. This wasn't true with the older pen and paper games, and that's the style of leveling I wanted to write.

The job that was supposed to just be about money quickly spirals into a fierce loyalty, one that leads him to the front lines in order to desperately prevent another war from beginning.
