Chapter Ten - Thoth Advanced Academy part 3
Lucky Riot's mind completely blanked out at that moment. This seemed a bit… extreme, no? Eleven hours? That was a full eight hours more than what he aimed for! This was no longer as simple as just breaking the record or obtaining a maid. Such an assessment time would surely gain the attention of the entire… the entire… Lucky considered his surroundings for the first time, and everything suddenly made sense. Having calmed down, he noticed that he was reflexively in the perceptive force state! In spite of this, his Eye of Horus wasn't even engaged. What did this mean? Had he reached a new threshold in his spirit power?!
Maybe he had even awakened a new mental state.
Merely, Lucky didn't dare to confirm any of this at the moment. After all, he was surrounded by hotshots and what seemed like more than half of the entire student body. Lucky's voice remained nonchalant as he bent his frame like a hooligan and responded, "Ah, I see. So that was the case. This means that Teacher Mercury should honor our bet, yes?"
Kenneth Royale's eyes and mouth dropped wide as he stared on speechlessly. What the hell was this?
Scarlet Mercury reacted like a cat with its tail stepped on as she hurriedly jumped forward to appease this, the merciless brat. To think he would bring up the bet in front of the Grand Magi! She no longer doubted for a second that he would expose what she had done to him previously.
Before, she found her actions to be no big deal, with no significant consequence. She felt that the worse she would receive was a slap on the wrist.
Now, however?
The moment that Lucky Riot surpassed the five-hour mark, Scarlet Mercury knew she had kicked an iron wall. There was no turning back anymore, but Scarlet didn't intend to really honor the bet. How could she? Scarlet was already a married woman, she couldn't be this brat's servant maid! Servant Maid's had to wear slave collars, who knew what he would do to her?
However, now that the Grand Magi themselves were involved, the Guru was surely watching this from afar! If they knew that she had offended this genius and even tried to cripple him, she could well imagine her own fate. Scarlet quickly surrendered, trying her best not to reveal her pure hatred or disgust, "Okay, brat, you win! It's over. I admit my... defeat."

Scarlet looked like she just swallowed a colony of worms.
"Excellent. This will be effective immediately," said Lucky Riot before bowing deeply to the teachers and then straightening his back again. He now resembled a refined scholar. He nonchalantly grabbed Maggie's hand and elegantly whisked her off the platform, landing next to Magus Clear Sky. Maggie, who was at his side, stepped forward and bowed to Magus Fair-Weather, the woman next to Magus Clear Sky.
"Student greets Professor!" said Margot Frenzy obediently. This caught Lucky off guard, although he didn't react outwardly. Magus Fair-Weather smiled brilliantly at her student and was impressed with Kasino's lack of intimidation. A genius should never envy another genius's accomplishments.
However, this drew shock and awe from the crowd once more.
"Margot is the dean's direct student!"
"She's going to soar from now on!"
"She's truly one of the angelic triads."
"I heard one of the magi is interested in Angel Aubrey as well..."
...
Magus Clear Sky rested her hand on Lucky's shoulder, thinking how different he was from his father, "Good child, you've done better than I could have ever hoped or imagined. Well done. Would you like to become my direct student?"
"Wah!" clamored the surrounding crowd.
Another dean accepting a student?
More shock!
Another uproar!
After all, this was a personal one on one training with one of the top magi in the academy! Not only that, but as a dean's student Lucky's status in the school wouldn't be below the teachers. In fact, no one was more shocked than the other Deans. They knew what it meant for Clear Sky to take a direct student. However, Caesar Calm's voice rang out in their minds, and they played along to keep everyone guessing.
"Clear Sky, this a bit inappropriate, no? He should definitely become my direct student instead. He must clearly review his options," responded Magus Fair-Weather sweetly. Her voice made it hard for people to dislike her, but Magus Clear Sky gave a sharp look that proved she hated her anyway. Of course, few people knew that they were actually rivals and best friends since a very young age.
"A man should learn from a man!" boomed Magus Fierce Storm. At this point, the surrounding students were dumbfounded and speechless. This was the dean of Thoth High School! The strongest dean in the academy and he wanted Lucky Riot as a direct student. Such a thing had never happened before. None of the deans had fought over taking in disciples before now.

This was indeed a historic day.
"{:-O," Kenneth Royale stood like a statue with his mouth hanging wide open, forming an 'O' shape. Kenneth simply couldn't process this, as his mind had already short-circuited.
Actually, Kenneth Royale stood with his jaw hanging since long ago. It was a wonder no flies had laid roost. Kenneth simply couldn't believe his shitty luck. Now the dean level magi were all fighting over Lucky? What kind of joke was this?! Where was the wastrel of yesteryear now? Stealing the spotlight that was born to be his! His grandfather had given him a particular device that would allow him to survive for a longer time than he would typically be capable of inside the original pressure chamber. These unique pressure chambers were designed by his own family, after all.
But eleven hours? How was he supposed to last 11 hours?
"Wow, Lucky's going to be the direct student of a magus…"
"That's so cool! Being the direct student of a magus will guarantee him the best learning materials, and his own courtyard in the Advanced Academy."
"I wish I could be under the tutelage of one of the Deans!"
"Right, if your a student of one the deans, that's like a guarantee that you'll make it to university!"
"Wow, university! I heard the competition in the big universities was fiercer than what we could imagine."
"Come on, how could it be that bad? Their only human, right?"
"We're not all human, you dick!"
"Magic can be terrifying, you know! I once saw my uncle performing…."
...…
"Enough," Grand Magus Caesar Calm's light and airy voice somehow reverberated throughout the grounds, and all the chatter instantly ceased. He continued to speak wisely, "It is only right that this boy receives the training of all the deans present here today. The Guru will hear of this, and once she does, will any decision we have made preliminarily even matter? The one who breaks Renzo Frenzy's record has long been assigned to the role of the Guru's direct student. However, since so many students have broken this record today, this honor shall fall to the new record holder."
The deans all nodded in approval at his words. This was true. There was no need to argue over the student with the number one potential in the history of the academy. Especially when outside the presence of the Guru.
"No, it's fine, I prefer Magus Clear Sky," said Lucky Riot casually, as he released Maggie's hand and quickly bowed deeply before Magus Clear Sky. He did so while muttering an obscure incantation. A purple rune diagram flew out of his glabella and into the heart of the stunned Clear Sky.
This was a voluntary master-disciple contract seal!
This seal indentured the student to the teacher until the student has reached the teacher's cultivation realm or required criteria. This was the most standard procedure when selecting a professor.
This was also the only incantation that they had learned since elementary school. Every student had to learn it, and they had to use it to indenture themselves to their kindergarten teacher. For this reason, most kindergarten teachers were former students who couldn't surpass the Hard Body Stage.
In the world of magical scholars, selecting a professor was a sacred tradition. One could have many teachers, but some people would only have one professor throughout their entire lives. Is this aspect, they were similar to servants or disciples and their masters. A professor was a genuinely honorable title, akin to adopting another parent. Much like a master. There were very few differences between the two titles. However, being someone's master still carried more weight and honor, as professors were only responsible for their charges up until they graduated. Thus, Lucky's action of using a master-disciple seal made Clear Sky feel very flattered.
"Disciple Kasino greets Professor Clear Sky!"

Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
