Jim woke up full void energy while feeling great, it was time to go out and hunt. Jim silently went out of his cave and started hunting sciplin. The sciplin seemed to have detected their kinds death and slowly moved from the area.

As Jim ate a sciplin, Jim wondered what they ate, perhaps something on the cave ground or in the air. Jim continued eating sciplin, some gave him 1 void essence, some 3 void essence, and the other times none since they were babies.

As Jim ate, a scepnet quickly crawled towards him. Jim rushed towards it and it shot a spray of yellow strings towards him. Jim expected the attack and dodged it easily. The two of them stood still, Jim didn't want to attack the scepnet spike body part, that seemed like it would hurt.

Jim turned away and the scepnet turned away. Jim made a ball of void energy and fired. The scepnet turned to react and the ball of void energy tore through its body in half. It wriggled on the ground for a while and quickly died of blood loss. Jim came to the scepnet and proceeded to quickly eat it while carefully being alert.

After he finished eating, he saw twenty-one void skound close by. A scale 1 void skound two times bigger than Jim with armor plating all over its body led the twenty void skound. Jim was three meters long and two meters tall so he was pretty big. He had not grown much even with an increase in his stats, he still wanted to be small enough to hide in a hole and it seemed his body had decided to not grow in size.

Looking at them, Jim felt hungry but decided not to attack. The scale 1 void skound roared and Jim felt like it was a challenge towards him. He shut off his instinct and was quietly about to go back to a hole when a notification showed up.

Seeing the reward, Jim decided to try and see if he could maybe kill the scale 1 skound. He went close towards the group of skound and used 80 void energy to make a ball of void energy. He aimed towards the scale 1 void skound and fired. The ball of energy flew and tore through multiple skounds. About 8 void skound died in the attack and the ball of energy continued on.

The scale 1 skound tried to dodge the attack, but the attack was too fast and slammed into it. Bones in the scale 1 skound shattered and it fell to the ground howling in pain. The other skound became fearful and wanted to flee. They looked towards the direction of the attack and saw Jim coming towards them.

Jim dashed toward them and they spread. Jim did not attack them and he bit the scale 1 skound in the neck. The white plating on the scale 1 skound was hard and Jim had to use his full strength to pierce through it. After piercing through, he started wrangling and strangling. The scale 1 skound couldn't fight back and soon died. The other skounds didn't bother to help and fled.

Feeling happy but unsafe, Jim started dragging every kill to a big hole. After licking his trail clean, he proceeded to feast. The feasting lasted for a long while and Jim gained 150 void essence, but he couldn't finish eating everything, he was too full. He looked at his reward and void essence and decided to use them after he woke up again. Jim closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Days passed, weeks passed, months passed. Time seemed to pass fast for Jim. He lived everyday hunting and hiding, that's all he did every day. In a giant hole lied Jim. He was five meters long and three meters tall. He looked like a giant void skound whose entire body was covered with bone plating. Jim opened his status, he was ready to advance to scale 2 and leave the temcles territory, there was nothing left to hunt.

Jim used his void essence to increase every one of his stats by 10 and he advanced to scale 2. A notification showed up in front of him. He also felt something change within himself and he gained a new passive.

Looking at the reward, Jim was confused, the first four didn't seem like rewards at all and he didn't know what they meant. It was to challenge something but exactly how it was going to work he didn't know. He decided to pick the fifth reward.

The status seem to know what he pick and options showed up in front of him.

Jim looked at the option and had a vague idea of what they were going to do. He liked them all besides the human, dying painfully as a human made him avoid that option. Jim studied the options and thought about them.

His experience as a human felt weak. Crinder seemed like the creature that was asking to die. Sargenos looked like an option for experiencing great pain. Megnes seemed like an idiot. Peylir seemed like the creature that overreacts.

After a while, Jim decided to go with the fifth option, he liked the word defensive. Unknown knowledge came upon Jim and he felt a great change. The knowledge told him if he wished to transform into Peylir, a black liquid will form around him and morph him into Peylir. The transformation will take time and it came at a cost of void essence and void energy and can be sped up using void essence and void energy.

Jim broke the wall in his hole and sealed it. He willed the transformation to start and he became unconscious. A black liquid secreted from his body and slowly covered him. Days passed and the black liquid harden to form what looked like a void skound statue. A few days later the statue started cracking.

A humanoid three meters tall slim buffed creature covered entirely with white plating with a few black cracks for movement broke apart the statue. The creature had a sharp helmet-curved head that looked like the helmet of a knight with two orange eyes that glowed. It looked like an organic humanoid white knight with sharp points on its knees, elbow, chin, fingers, toes, shoulders, and head.

Jim checked his status.

Jim didn't know what to say, his mind had stopped working at this point. He thought back to the first time he was offered evolutionary transformation, he wondered to himself why he didn't pick it, was he perhaps an idiot.

Jim sighed, he decided not to blame himself, the void scanner was helpful after all. Jim looked at the black crystal around him, he saw that they had no energy and that he would gain nothing from eating them. He opened his mouth and felt that he had teeth for grinding vegetables and carnivorous teeth for eating flesh.

Feeling happy and confident, Jim decided to leave the cave.
