《The New Creator》Chapter 14

Mirabelle sits at a desk, massaging her temples with her index fingers. She sits in a grand room, filled with other desks, each with another king or queen residing at it. The walls were painted pure white, void of any real details.
"I never thought I'd want to kill everyone in this room as much as I do now." She thought to herself, running her right hand through her long, light green hair.
The desks form two straight rows, each one with twenty desks. They face a single long table with eight people sitting behind it. Her deep purple eyes stare down at the eight people at the table. The eight at the table were blocked by a white cloth. Only their silhouettes could be seen through it.
"The last vote was twenty to twenty. Per the grand magic law, we're to continue to vote until there is a decision made with the majority vote." A raspy male voice said from the group of eight.
"You think because you keep saying that shit, it's going to change anything? Is your plan to force a change of votes by keeping us hostage here?" An angry king barked, slamming his fist onto his desk.
"Look, we know everyone is tired of being here. We're just as tired as you are, but this is the law. This matter is serious, we're talking about the livelihood of every kingdom on the line." A female voice said from the table.
"Here's my question, we've been here for days voting on the same thing. Has anyone come up with any alternatives? If so, I'd love to hear them because I'm not liking the idea of firing the Oracle." A queen says from Mirabelle's row.
The room falls silent as everyone waits for one of them to speak up.

"There hasn't been a threat this large in our country since this council was formed. The Oracle was designed as a last-ditch effort to save our country, if there was another option, we would've thought of it." The woman from the table explained.
Mirabelle clenched her fists tightly as those words echoed through her head.
"It's not their kingdom and people they're talking about wiping off the face of the earth, it's mine!" Mirabelle thought bitterly to herself.
Suddenly two buttons emerge on their desks, one red and one green. The sounds of bell ding are heard as everyone presses a button. Mirabelle practically smashes the red button as hard as she can. In front of them, two numbers appear above the council's table. Nineteen under the no sign, and twenty under the yes sign. Everyone begins looking around the room to see who hadn't voted. It was the King of Galward. He was a short man with a heavyset body. He wore dark green clothes with gold trim along the edges. They were perfectly clean and not a single wrinkle was present on them. He turns to look over his shoulder, he sees Mirabelle pleading with him with her eyes. He lets out a sigh and frowns as he clicks the button. The score for the votes updates, nineteen for no and twenty-one for yes. Mirabelle bites her lip in anger
"This concludes our grand meeting, thank you for your time, everyone. The Oracle shall begin charging right away and once we've discovered the dragon we shall eradicate it." The raspy voice said, hitting a gavel on the table.
Everyone stands from their desks and quickly makes their way out of the room. Most of them head to a small room that teleports them back to their kingdoms. Once in the hallway, Mirabelle is greeted by Syllia. Syllia gives a quick hug and smiles at her.

"How did it go love?" Syllia asked, stepping back and brushing back her brunette hair behind her pointed ear.
"They're going as planned with firing the Oracle, I heard they're going to be sending more camera crystals out soon as well to find the dragon quicker.
"So that's it huh? What are we going to do?" Syllia asked, holding on to Mirabelle's hand.
"The council plans on sending some barrier users back home with us. They said they can protect our city from the blast, but only ours. If the dragon is still within our borders, most if not all of our towns and cities will be destroyed.
A man in a black and yellow uniform walks up to them, then gives them a bow.
"It's time to go your highnesses. Our barrier casters are waiting for us in the teleportation room.
They nod and follow close behind him. They enter a small room with ten other people, dressed in the same uniform. They stand in a circle and suddenly the floor glows white. The white light shines brightly, consuming the entire room and within a second, the room was empty.
