Knight was on town patrol with some recruits. He was showing them the patrol routes and stopped at a cafe for lunch. As he and the group sat down at a table, an old man sat down not far away. A butcher walked by the old man and the old man mumbled “pig.” Quite rude. Thought Knight. Another man walked by and the old man mumbled “human” Well of course he is! Thought Knight as he ate an apple.
The next day, the Knight returned to that cafe for lunch and found the old man sitting in the same spot as yesterday. Several people walked by; a child, an old woman, and another recruit. “Candy, Cookies, Oatmeal,” The old man mumbled. Is he senile? Knight thought as he ate. I wonder how his family treats him...
The day after that Knight came to the same cafe and found the same old man sitting in the same spot. Feeling pity for the lonely old man, Knight approached him. “Apple,” the old man mumbled and Knight stopped dead in his tracks. He remembered something urgent, turned and ran to fetch his squad. Why?
