《I Shall Prevail》Chapter 4: Adir

A young woman was silently walking home, in her arms a sleeping baby. She had arrived at her home and walked in. She was caressing the child’s head silently observing its peculiar features. The young baby boy had a large birthmark on the left side of his face. The light red mark covered at least a fifth of his tiny face.
The woman walked through a hallway that led to three bedrooms. She was checking on her kids, she first went into a girls room making sure she was still asleep, the small girl looked around four years old. After making sure her daughter was okay she walked towards the next room. Inside this other room was a young boy, he looked around eight and was peacefully sleeping. The woman then headed towards her bedroom and laid on her large king sized bed.
She gently laid the baby on her lap and continued to remove the blanket covering him. When he was finally uncovered, she noticed a thick golden cuff on his wrist. It was too big considering the baby’s size, she observed it hoping it would have a name on it. Sure enough, the cuff read ‘Adir Belial’.
“So you’re Adir, I’m Juliet, I’ll care for you for as long as I can. If my husband were here, he would want the same. ” – Juliet said as she peacefully held Adir preparing to go to sleep.
Adir was slowly absorbing mana. Since his arrival he had been absorbing mana in low quantities, it was especially shocking since it was normally at the age of thirteen when one would be able to cultivate. For it was at this age when the dantian would be more developed and ready to absorb energy. At younger ages it was dangerous and life threatening to cultivate, since the body was too premature to start absorbing energies especially since there was wicked energies that could potentially harm the core.
Adir was special, he could absorb any type of energy from wicked to pure without an issue and besides that his core was mature enough to cultivate only days after his birth.

In town there wasn’t anyone strong enough yet to see his core otherwise he’d be in danger. Should anyone with evil intentions see his core, they would try everything to remove it and absorb it themselves, hoping to gain its abilities.
Vigo had told his wife everything that had happened and was pacing back and forth across their bedroom. His wife hadn’t seen anything and if anyone knew Vigo, it’d be her. Having been married for around many years she knew Vigo was speaking the truth. But they couldn’t leave anywhere even if they wanted to and it was dangerous as well. While quietly thinking she suddenly thought of something.
“Honey! W-what if it was challenging you!” – she excitedly said, she was sure this was the case.
“That’s impossible sweety, I felt like a speck of dust in front of that creature…” Vigo silently said, he found it unlikely for such a thing to happen.
“Think about it honey, you are the genius of town, and it allowed only you to see him. Beasts are intelligent remember? You said it wasn’t from around here too so it is likely looking for challenges!” – she excitedly said, Vigo was slowly starting to believe what she was saying.
“But even if it were the case how do I know how much time it gave me, sweety?” – he asked, he was definitely the towns genius, although he was not yet the strongest in town, everyone believed he would reach higher levels than the army commander and the head chief of town.
“That-… maybe it will show itself once more to you when the time is near. You must train harder than ever dear, and prove to it that you don’t hold the genius title for nothing!” said the woman while holding Vigo’s face.
Vigo was getting excited, he could feel himself getting pumped for this challenge. He had felt so tiny a while ago and now he was ready for this challenge. Only the child troubled him now.

“Why was there a child outside though?” Vigo asked his wife.
“Right, I had forgotten that.” – answered the woman. She had forgotten the child, she thought for a few seconds and suddenly an idea occurred to her.
“That baby! It must have taken that baby from another town and placed it on our house to grab your attention! It worked too!” – she was visibly more excited at figuring everything out.
“Maybe you’re right… yeah… I will train harder than ever and show that it is no match for I, Vigo!” – Vigo had believed everything his wife said, completely forgetting the power of the beast.
With a challenge ahead of him, Vigo would undergo heavy training and meditation to make a breakthrough into the next levels. While currently at the intermediate level, he was close to making a breakthrough into the experienced level.
That beast was at least two levels above me, making me feel like dust in front of it. I’m close to reaching experienced, I must train hard! – thought Vigo.
Demon Kingdom
“Your highness! We had located the prince but he managed to escape, he even killed some of our men!” – reported a man while maintaining one knee on the ground. In front of him was his king.
“No! Go and find him now!! I want him back now!” – furiously roared the king.
We’re close, it’s only a matter of time now.
He had a vision tens of years ago. He had seen life, death, blood, destruction and… his son. He needed to find him before it was too late.
Angel Kingdom
“S-she escaped once more your honor! We… we did everything I- I swear!” – reported a man while a knee was touching the ground. In front of him was his king.
“I do not accept failure. We know this don’t we?” – said the king as he slowly stood up. He continued to walk towards the kneeling man.
“I-I know that… she’s too… too powerful! We are close… I swear! Plea-“ – the king had grabbed him by the neck and picked him off the ground. He could feel his neck being grabbed with more and more strength until finally he was thrown feet away.
“I will kill you if you fail me once more!” – shouted the angels king, he wouldn’t tolerate failure.
He too had a vision tens of years ago, he had seen his life, death, blood, destruction and… his daughter. She was needed to be found immediately before it was too late.
Demons had been at war for a long time with the so called angels tens of thousands of years ago but it had all ended in a truce when the demon prince was believed to have been killed in action along with the angel princess.
Both kings having lost a child agreed on a truce. They stopped having wars and although they didn’t end on peaceful terms they never again molested one another. Then after thousands of years, they had each had a vision into the future. They saw life, death, blood and destruction.
Both kings met once more after thousands of years and each sent thousands of search parties to look for the missing prince and princess. Although the world proved to be too great, until finally the search parties started to give good results. Slowly they were getting closer and closer to the two and it was only a matter of time before they’d be captured and returned.
Those who had bared witness to the godly wars would pass down the stories as time flew by. After thousands of years the stories had become legends and then urban legends many, many years later until finally almost no one knew about these godly beings.
