《I Shall Prevail》Chapter 9: Rivalry

Adir was dumbfounded, he was gazing at the land, at least what was left of it. Until he warped to another place. He looked around and saw another beautiful land, except this time there was a large city too. He was admiring the area when again, just like last time two tears appeared in the sky. Two armies showed up once more but this time they were bigger, he felt sorrow knowing the city would end up being destroyed along with the gorgeous land.
Adir watched as the same woman and same man from before once again led the charge. The woman was now using two swords this time and the man was using the same glaive from before. They had healed by the looks of it and they looked at each other with even more hatred from before. They held a grudge against one another from last time.
They each roared, commencing the battle. Adir watched as the land quickly started to get destroyed. With each angel or demon that crashed into the ground a large crater would be formed, powerful attacks that missed their targets hit the ground causing big explosions, the city was being obliterated, its habitants were crazily running in every direction trying to find their way to safety.
Adir knew it was inevitable, they’d all perish along with the land. The armies power was too immense. Their attacks, techniques and weapons were all too powerful, leaving destruction wherever they touched.
Adir wasn’t aware but his core had been undergoing changes all this time. It was as if it had a mind of its own. Everything Adir was witnessing would benefit it, these powerful beings would make one wiser and more knowledgeable in the world of cultivation just by watching them training, even more so watching many of them fighting and using their prowess in action.

They had powers far greater only Adir couldn’t imagine they were holding back. These lands would be far worse if they didn’t hold back but it wouldn’t benefit any of the two parties if they fought with everything they had.
They were fighting for territories, for the world. The angel dynasty was from the south region where as the demon empire was from the north. They held the most strength of the world but they each desired to be number one as well as rule the world by themselves.
The land below was wretched and had no signs of life for miles. Just like the previous area the armies had fought on. If things continued like this they would end up destroying the world or destroying each other. And if by chance someone finally won, there’d be nothing to govern over. It’d all be destroyed.
Adir watched and just like before, the princess of the angel army and prince of the demon army finally fought one another and once more the two armies stopped what they were doing and prepared for whatever outcome the battle would give.
As both commanders fought they increased speed and strength. The woman used both swords efficiently and swiftly looking really experienced with them. The man had improved his techniques from the last battle and was completely focused.
It had finally reached a climax when they created a distance between them and started to speak under their breath. As they finished they abruptly rushed forward facing each other and swung with all their might their weapons. Their momentum was insane as they broke the sound barrier crashing into each other. Silence filled the air for a few seconds.
PFFFFFF
An enormous blast of wind was traveled across the area. It killed many heavily wounded warriors and injured many others. It was as if a large bomb had suddenly exploded.

The warriors couldn’t worry about themselves and once again paid attention to the commanders, they needed to see who was victorious. A large cloud of mana where they had crashed covered their view until out fell two bodies. They had been equal once more. With no time to waste they quickly headed for their commanders and retreated to have them healed once more.
Adir watched as the armies left once more, although it was incredible to him. The amount of power they held and all the techniques they used were impressive and incredible to him but he couldn’t stop looking at all the empty barren land. It was all destroyed, only blood, corpses upon corpses, armor, weapons and amass destruction was left.
Helplessness filled him, he felt sorrow and anger seeing all the life they had destroyed. Only to end up in a tie and for a second time too.
As Adir thought the scenery changed once more, it was another beautiful land. It was a kingdom, this was his first time seeing one and he knew what it was from all the books he’d read. As he was lost in thought two tears had once more appeared in the sky.
No! Not again! Stop!! – thought Adir.
This continued to occur, every time the battle ended it would result in a tie and both would retreat only leaving destruction and rivers of blood every single time.
Adir had lost track of time, he felt like weeks had passed by while he continued to watch all these battles. Every time they battled at least half of each army would die, the smallest battles consisted of over two-hundred-thousand men. At least a hundred thousand would die every time they fought. Adir no longer knew how many times they’d fought but it was at least in the triple digits.
With every battle that passed the man and woman would use different techniques, Adir noticed their battle would get longer and stronger. They had even gotten to the point that as soon as the tears opened they’d directly face each other. Not caring about leading the attack at all. The grudge they held had dissipated as well. The look in their eyes was now of excitement and rivalry.
They only fought to improve their skills now and would sometimes even exchange words.

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here.
