《Of Misclicks and Magic》First Fight

Seeing that I am now seven, I can now venture into the wilderness to hunt monsters. For the sake of training, the order had released many different species of monsters on the island upon their establishment. Most of the native species have been wiped out, though it matters not to the church. In their eyes, they could not adapt so they deserved to die.
The aim of my hunt is a slime since, well, I would die to anything else immediately. I have a chipped, hand-me-down dagger from the church's armoury. Although I would rather have a spear to keep distance from my foes, I simply do not have the strength to use it as pathetic as that may sound. Daggers are light and work with my dexterity stat well. As armour, I have worn-out leather boots with a beaten-up small leather chestplate. I replace my acolyte robe with a white shirt and brown pants underneath the armour for ease of movement.
Slimes are typically opportunistic predators due to their weakness in relation to all other monsters. They make up for their weakness by being hard to kill. To kill a slime, you must break the core though that is difficult as it can move its core wherever it wants and your weapons can get stuck in the goo of its body. That's not including that they are quite hard to hit with their small size and alright agility stat.
Hearing rumors of a spot popular for slimes to consolidate, I take some hours of the day to travel to a forested area with some pools as almost half of all days of the year has some sort of rain. The pools are small in width but large in depth. The only noise is rustling trees and far off battle exists with these woods. I am a tad frustrated though, since I cannot find a slime. Were the rumors a lie? I have already spent so much time getting here so they better be here.

Fulfilling my wish, but not in the way I wanted, a light green slime that hid in wait on the tree branch above me performed an ambush on me, engulfing my head. Panicking, I uselessly grab at the goo without much thought. As my consciousness dimmed, I got lucky and spooked it by touching its core. Retreating from my head, we stare each other down, knowing each other to be equal opponents, a fight between the weaklings. Recovering from the lack of oxygen just a few moments ago, I draw my dagger and ready it for another attack. Instead of doing a suicide charge towards me like I expected it to, it retreated. Pursuing it, I fell into its trap. It suddenly bounced towards me as it was rolling away and engulfed my left arm, knowing I could not carelessly stab at it with my arm in the crossfire.
The coursing pain from it dissolving the arm of my shirt and then skin shoots through me. So much that I actually gained a toughness stat point. Jumping into a pool, the slime disattaches and floats up. I try to stab it with my dagger, though it is pointless as I could not apply proper force underwater. The slime begins to spread itself across the pool to reattach to me when I come up for air but I flailed in the water, disturbing the water just enough to confuse it and make an escape from the pool.
A popup appears before me: 'You are wet. -25% agility.' I only have one agility, it cannot go any less than that! Jokes on you system!
A plan forms within my mind as the slime regains its senses a bit and consolidates itself to jump at me but falled short since it could not produce enough force. Dodging its continued clumsy jumps, I get enough openings to take off my chestplate and wrap its straps around my forearm over the course of a few lunges. I slowly direct the battle to where the slime is in front of the tree. As it takes one last lunge, I use the chestplate on my forearm to bat it towards the tree with all the strength I could muster, my body screaming at me to stop. It splats against the tree and its goo goes flying everywhere around the tree, leaving the core with no way to stop an attack. I lunge at the small sphere before the slime can recollect and stab it with my dagger. The color of the goo becomes a dark green as a pop-up appears before me. 'Green slime defeated. You have leveled up. You may allocate ten stat points.'

Though I cared little for the pop-up, my exhaust was the only thing on my mind. Laying on the ground, I drift off to unconsciousness as I see some kids appear from the bushes, asking if I am okay. I only let out a weak "no" before passing out.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

I hope you enjoy reading my book as I enjoy writing it! It’s a side project of mine and I can currently only write in my free time, which is not a lot unfortunately. I do not know how many chapters a week I will be able to produce, however, the word count will be around 6000-7000 per week. If you like the story you can support me on patreon and read chapters ahead of current release. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The story might not be for the faint hearted or for those seeking an over-powerd plot guarded golden cow of a mc. The story will start out slowly and will pick up a bit of pace later on on, however, the character/s will walk a long and full of despair road. No sugar-coating in this story. Another thing to have in mind is that I currently do not have a proofreader nor an editor, so some mistakes might slip through my fingers, if you notice any such, please do leave a comment so I can fix them for future readers. Do please enjoy the story and feel free to leave reviews and or comments, I am usually pretty open and would love to answer some of your questions!
