We are orbiting the unusual star. The flares are unusually powerful for the levels of power the star is radiating. Again, the crew gathered on the bridge to watch the star. Most of the crew, but this is not surprising. Normally when a star’s fuel runs out, it collapses and creates a supernova and occasionally a black hole. This star is slated to become a supernova, but it isn’t exhibiting the proper behaviors. It’s flaring and turning red but not supernova red.Minali put it best when she said; “It looks like it’s just going out.”
If the star does indeed, just go out without going supernova, it would set an entirely new precedent for stars. This has Graham on edge, however. He is uncomfortable with the idea of being in a system that could go supernova at any second. But we wouldn’t be. Our sensors would alert us before that. A.N.IM.US alerts me that there was a spike reading in the problem booster. Graham inspected the panel recently and gave an all clear. It must be a problem with a booster. I told Minali to steer us away and toward the nearest landing pad.
As we steered away and toward the planet Earth, Graham pulled me aside and told me he could hear a strange noise. A new investigation has been opened. Dr. Katida has paged me and told me Dr. Blackwell is in a mood and will come to complain. She has also informed me that Dr. Blackwell has been complaining to my superiors about my command since we launched. I am livid at this information. I do not want to cause a confrontation between myself and Dr. Blackwell but I fear at this point it is inevitable. Currently, I am pacing in the captain’s room to cool off so I at least can keep some level of calm before going to confront-
