《Mr. Vampire’s Wife》Chapter 133: The Confession

As Ken was requested by Lacey, he excused himself from the banquet. After a while, he finally reached the dungeon cell Lacey was in.
“Ken! I’m going to be killed!” Lacey shouted the first thing that came to her mind when she saw Ken.
When he saw the tear-stained face of Lacey, he was a little shocked. Lacey was someone who was brought up like a princess and was taught to never cry in front of others as it was unsightly to show your weakness to others.
“Lacey, we’re not going to kill you! Although Kazuya was truly enraged, we’re not going to execute you!” Ken tried to calm her down.
“No… I’m going to be killed! I-I did something I shouldn’t!” Lacey said as she started crying once again.
“What do you mean?” Ken was confused as to why Lacey would be so determined that she was going to be killed.
“I… I’m so sorry… *sob* I cooperated with your enemy. I told them that Kazuya was back and that Lilica was pregnant! No matter how jealous I was, I shouldn’t have fell into their trap and cooperated with them! I’m so sorry… *sob*” Lacey apologized as her tears fell endlessly. Now that she was reflecting back on the incident, she was really impulsive. She shouldn’t have agreed to the enemy’s plan in the first place. How could she think of harming others so easily?
“So, the reason the information was leaked as because of you?!” Ken felt shocked at her confession.
“I’m sorry! I gave in to my feelings without thinking! Now that they know I have failed, they’re surely going to kill me!” Lacey apologized sincerely.
“Do you know who the mastermind is?” Ken tried to ask for information on the enemy.

“No… All I know is that he has a very strong magical power. Even on par with us vampires. His lackeys are mostly other demons, but his hideout is in the human world. That’s right! I have his phone number!” Lacey said as she took out her phone and handed it to Ken.
“I just called him in hopes that he would help me but from our conversation, I can tell that he’s going to kill me! There are many spies in the palace too! I don’t know when I’ll die but I need to give you this information! Hopefully, I can help you guys track the enemy down.” Lacey said as she felt that death was creeping on her.
“I’ll give this to Kazuya. This is a really big clue! Do you know anything else?” Ken asked hopefully.
“I’m sorry but I don’t know anything else. He’s very secretive.” Lacey replied, feeling dejected that she hadn’t gotten more information on the enemy.
“It’s okay! You’ve already helped us by giving this information to us. The enemy won’t be able to do anything to you as long as you stay in the palace. I’ll go bring the phone to Kazuya and come back quickly.” Ken tried to cheer her up as he turned to walk away.
“Wait!” Lacey tried to stop him since she knew that if she was left alone, she would surely be killed. However, Ken had already went far away and couldn’t hear her.
On the staircase leading to the dungeon
“Where are you going, Ken?” Lilica asked when she saw Ken walking up the stairs.
“Kazuya and Lilica! I was about to give this to you guys. Lacey said that she was in contact with our enemy. The one ho gave her the idea to harm Lilica was the enemy.” Ken said as he handed the phone to Kazuya.

“As I thought.” Kazuya replied.
“You knew she was involved?” Ken asked as he felt amazed at his cousin’s intelligence.
“There’s no way she would be able to think up such schemes by herself.” Kazuya replied.
“You’re so smart.” Ken murmured.”
“Of course, my husband is the smartest in the world.” Lilica playfully boasted about her hubby.
“Urgh! Stop with the public display of affection! Anyways, you guys are going down to interrogate Lacey, right? Can you lessen her punishment? She was manipulated by the enemy.” Ken pleaded for his friend.
“We’ll see.” Kazuya replied as he continued going down the stairs. He still felt angry that Lilica was almost stabbed.
The three of them went down to the dungeon. However, as the went near Lacey’s cell, the stench of blood became stronger. This caused Kazuya and Ken, who were vampires to stop in their tracks. The smell of blood was a little too much for them. Both of their eyes turned red just from the strong stench.
Lilica saw how the two of them were affected and decided to continue walking forward without them since she knew that they couldn’t go too near to places with a strong stench of blood or they’ll lose their rationality.
Lilica walked on and soon, she noticed that something was off. The floor in front of Lacey’s cell was covered with so much blood that made Lilica feel nausea.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
