“Yes, but he taught me only a few spells. Like how to make a machine operate automatically. But these spells have very specific uses.” Ellie replied when she heard Kazuki’s kind voice. She somehow felt that his voice was reassuring and made her feel like obeying him.

“Can you show us another spell?” Kazuki continued asking in his kind voice.

At that moment, everyone in the group looked at him questioningly. Why was he using hypnotism on a child?

“Yes.” Ellie replied as she drew a magic circle in the air and mumbled something. All of a sudden, the cup of tea that was on the table started floating and the tea inside started dancing in the air.

To the three, this looked amazing and made them feel excited. However, when Kazuki and Lilienne saw the floating cup, their suspicions came true. She was really using ancient magic.

“My magic power is quite weak so I can only manipulate small objects like this.” Ellie explained as she put the cup back to its place.

“You’re amazing to be able to use such spells. Have you been training for a long time?” Kazuki asked.

“Yes. Ever since I could remember. My father wouldn’t let me eat until I could master the spells.” Ellie replied obediently.

“Your father taught them to you, right? Where’s your father right now then? I want to ask him to teach me some spells too.” Kazuki asked as he smiled at her kindly. However, he was testing to see if she was really the enemy’s daughter.

“My father is usually on business trips. This time, he’s in the human world.” Ellie replied honestly, oblivious to the fact that she was being hypnotized to tell the truth.

Vampires were able to use hypnotism but only to a certain degree. It couldn’t be used on adults since adults had more mental resistance. Only memory erasing and a little mind altering can be used on adults. It also couldn’t be used on vampires. Kazuki had used hypnotism on Ellie to prevent her from lying even though he didn’t want to believe that she was going to lie.

“I see. Then is most of his business trips in the human world?” Kazuki asked.

“Yes. He usually stays in the human world for a few years and come back for only one day before going back again.” Ellie replied.

“Since when have he started going to business trips?” Kazuki asked.

“Around from when I was 4 years old.” Ellie replied.

Coincidentally, 13 years ago was also when the enemy’s attack were starting to become more intense.

“I have one last question. Can your father use magic that makes things explode and freeze?” Kazuki asked, hoping that Ellie’s father couldn’t.

“Yes, he can.” Ellie replied honestly.

Kazuki then stopped hypnotizing her then gave a her a kind smile. Meeting the questioning gaze of his friends, he looked at them as if saying, ‘I’ll tell you guys later.’

He then grabbed Lilienne’s hand and exited the room to find his father. Seeing Ellie’s magic up close made him feel like their magic were very similar. Normally, having almost identical magic trace meant that one was related to the other. It may just be that he was overthinking, but it was probably better to report it to his father before things could take a turn for the worse.

“Kazuki… Was her magic really similar to the enemy’s?” Lilienne asked on the way.

“Yeah… Her magic trace was almost identical.” Kazuki replied.

“Then she really is…” Lilienne said as she felt bad for the girl. If she was really the enemy’s daughter, then she might’ve been used by her father without knowing. Judging from the girl’s innocent expression, she was probably not informed of her father’s actions.

“We still don’t know. Let’s just hope that she isn’t.” Kazuki replied as they reached the king’s room.

“Father, it’s Kazuki and Lilienne. We need to talk to you about something.” Kazuki said as he knocked on the door.

“Come in.” the king’s voice sounded from inside.

Back at the living room

Everyone continued preparing for the wedding. The trio were still confused as to why Kazuki would hypnotize the girl, but they were going to question him later. As they had left their job to Ellie’s magic, they were now free. Kazuya saw them being free, so he ordered, “Sharon and Zeke. You guys continue with the menu selection. Ron and Ellie, you’re free until the computer’s done. Just go take a break or something.”

He was helping Sharon as per Lilica’s request.

Sharon and Zeke came to sit on Kazuki’s and Lilienne’s seat and noticed that the chair was very close to each other. Zeke was about to move away but Sharon quickly stopped him and said, “You don’t have to move away. It’s easier to see the list when we’re sitting closer.”

“That’s true.” Zeke agreed as he started looking through the menu. He then muttered, “God. He spoils her too much. She’s quite a picky eater.”

Luckily for him, Kazuya was engrossed in the catalogue and Lilica that was clinging onto him, so he didn’t hear what Zeke had said about his wife.

“If it were me, I’m not that picky.” Sharon muttered as a reply. However, her voice was too soft, and Zeke couldn’t hear her.

“What did you say?” Zeke asked.

“Nothing.” Sharon replied naturally as she looked through the list seriously for a second before she wanted to cry from feeling envious. How is it possible that this couple could flirt even in the form of a piece of paper?! Spare us singles!
