A few seconds ago...
She can hear their footstep coming closer near her, her heart almost sank when they separated in a different direction. she rolls under the sofa looking at those three assailants feet, after making sure all three were in one-meter range, she releases a [Bio-Electric shock] making the three assailants stun for three seconds, without delay she rolls out, stood up, and throw the two enhance kunai at the two sides and jump at the last one without looking at the two. With 1 second remaining, she throws the kunai at the last assailant face, the assailants look helplessly at the coming kunai, the stun has been removed but it's too late for him to dodge.
Present
She sighs at the three corpses, trying to think how she's going to explain the three corpses suddenly appear in her living room, but before she can think any further, she notices the three corpses began to emit green smoke. She frowns and exits the house fast, she doesn't want to know what those green smokes can do to her. She looks back and saw the three corpses vanish and only the remnants of black clothes were left.
"I guess I don't need to worry about corpse anymore" but her voice doesn't contain any humor in it.
"So they made their move..." she became dignified knowing the hands finally start to move.
Slowly her smile became vicious.
"Good, this is a good deed. I guess I don't have to go to their headquarters just to find the boss and kill him."
This means she needs to advance her plans for improving her skills.
-
"They failed to kill her..."
"Incompetent fools."
"We need to send some of our best warriors"
"Do it"
-
At the top of the rooftop, the lights were bright as day as they stand at the top viewing the lower mortals below.
"So...you mean you just need me to lead you where crimes happen then you're going to "fix" it?"
"Yep"
"So what? I am going to just stand there- "
"Looking pretty"
"What-?"
"You're going to stand there looking pretty"
Matt cough and look elsewhere.
"Boy, I already have taken your virginity and still you are still shy as a teenager." she chuckles
"I'm not shy!" He retorts but behind his mask, he can't help his cheek getting red tint
"Your ears still turn like tomato"
He subconsciously touches his ears but stops when he finds out she was laughing secretly.
"Fine, but I have a condition?"
"Shoot" she stops laughing when Matt suddenly became serious
"You're not going to kill anyone"
They both look at each other.
"I don't understand"
"I don't want you to be a murderer, if you're not going to comply with my request, I'm not going to help you."
She looks at him with a raised eyebrow
"Then why did you let me kill those five jerks? What changed your mind?"
Matt sigh and rub his forehead.
"Before our suppose date that day, Master Stick came to me and order to teach you how to kill."
"He did?" Joan has surprise in her eyes
Advertisement
"Yep"
"And you let me?"
He didn't say anything but look at her silently.
"You're a contradictory of your character you know that Matt?"
"Stick has been my father figure since my original father died. He became my mentor and he was the reason I'm here, why I'm currently living my life right now. That's why I'm thankful to him for what he has done to me. So even I hate it, I will follow his order without complaint."
He turns around and looks at the people below.
"So what if he orders you to kill me? Are you going to do it Matt?"
It takes a second before he answers her.
"If that time comes, you will know my answer."
She just rolls her eyes.
"Fine, I won't kill anyone I promise, but I can't promise if I accidentally break their bones."
"Good, that's all I ask"
-
Using Bio-shock, body enhancement, and weapon enchantment, she began taking down enemy fast. Although the consumption of energy is large, using meditation, she can recover some of her lost energy, she just needs to wait and sit anywhere for one hour and her energy will refill with half.
"How did you do that?" Matt look at the curiously
"Meditate, and gained the truth of the universe. After attaining a specific level, you will attain spiritual enlightenment."
"That's bullshit right?"
She just smiles
"Whatever, tell me if your good enough, I'm just going to check something."
"What did you find?"
"Looks like some kind of harassment. Stay here and rest, I'll be back before you knew it" he run fast until he reaches the edge of the rooftop and jumps on the other side of the building.
She closed her eyes, and try to focus on her senses. She wants to learn Matt skills, it seems very useful in finding your enemy easily.
Suddenly she opens her eyes and roll on the right side.
"Ding"
She looks at the dart sticking to the metal that almost hit her.
Without waiting for a reply, she felt another projectile coming at her
"Swish" she rolls to the other side and hides in the corner and looks at the dart now sticking in the ground.
"The enemy was using dart as a long projectile weapon, there was no other tall building around here that can be used to monitor my every movement, except for the 30-floor building which is 1 kilometer away. Base on the strength of the dart and his accuracy, as long as the target is visible, the target was good as dead."
She looks grim, knowing her she can't face her enemy directly based on how far he or she can throw the darts.
"I need to talk to Matt and warn him" she dialed his number and waited, but no one answers her call.
"What's going on? Why isn't he answering his phone?" she looks at her phone grimly
-
Current Matt situation.
He was currently surrounded by red ninja; they surround him tightly never letting him give chance to escape.
"Who are you?" looking vigilant everywhere
The ninja didn't answer him and start attacking together, he heard his phone ring, but he was busy dodging and attacking them and have no time to answer his phone call.

She sighs and ended the phone call.
"Guess I'm own my own then."
-
At the 30th floor building, a bald man with a target sign on his forehead was standing at the rooftop. He wearing a biker jacket was looking at the 24th building tightly.
"C'mon kitten, daddy likes to play."
He laughs and chews his gum.
-
Joan calm herself and try to think of her solution to her current predicament.
"If I'm going to fight him, then my only solution is enhancement skill, but my skill still rank F, I don't think it can reach him with the distance between us."
She put a hand to her chin and ponder
"Even if I learn how to feel the electromagnetic energy in the air like Matt, I don't think I can use it as a radar, Matt has been using it since he was a kid, I don't think I can copy him right now, it so far fetches.
"If I focus on my energy in my sai to the limit, I wonder if it can withstand the load of energy?"
She twirls her sai, wondering if it's worth it.
"I am going to die any second now and I'm still thinking if it's worth it?" she shakes her head
"Next, I need to ponder and calculate how far, the accuracy, and the whereabouts of my target."
"After that, I will need to use my full enhancement to the fullest, and bait myself to find the specific location of the target."
She sighs and rubs her temple.
"Well, if I'm going to be killed anyway, might as well go all out"
Thinking of her plan, she closed her eyes and meditate, if she is going to attempt suicide, might as well do it in full preparation.
-
After 1 hour
She opens her eyes and inspects that her energy was already full, then she holds her two sai and starts to inputting her energy at them. When she felt her energy was getting on a critical level, she tried to meditate while still trying to input energy on the two sai.
It became a tug of war of control between her body and the two sai, she gritted her teeth and hold on. She can feel her sai getting sharper, the chaotic energy starts to melt itself to the sai. Then she felt it, she can feel the two sai energy was trying to break out of her control, she knows this is the limit that she can do, she inspects herself and found that she still got a little energy left.
"Okay, it's on" her eyes became crazy.
-
On the other side of the building, the bald man was currently humming while chewing his gum, suddenly his eyes became sharp, from 1 km away, he saw a figure running out of the corner trying to flee to the door fast.
"Gotcha!" he sneers and throws eight darts on his finger, to make sure his prey died, he prepares to attack in full. He runs and roar then releases the 8 darts throwing them full forward to the other side.
He smiles triumphantly, thinking he finally got her this time, but his smile vanish after a few seconds replace by shock and horror as he watches her parry those darts, but before he can react, two blue object thing suddenly appears before him, he can only bulge his eyes out before the sai pierce his head and his chest.
The last thing in his mind before everything became black is: how?
-
Before a few seconds
Joan runs fast, after she exposes herself, she knows that the enemy will never give her a chance to live, and she was right. She heard multiple projectiles approaching her fast, she suddenly stops and turns around. Her pondering became lightning speed, looking at the route of those darts, knowing she can't block them all, she chooses to block those darts that can be critical to her.
Thinking of this she began to parry some of those eight darts, two darts pierce her both legs, two darts pierce both of her arms, one darts pierce her stomach. Five darts managed to hit her directly, but thanks to her calculation, the three critical darts miss its target; the heart, lungs, and head part. Knowing the danger has passed, she calculates where the darts came from and throw her two enchant sai hard. With additional enhancement on the body and fast calculation, she watches the two sai fly on the large tall building, wishing she gotten whoever fuck that throw those darts at her before everything goes all black.
-
She woke up at midnight, she tried to get up, but the fierce pain suddenly assaulted her body making her groan. She was a force to lay on the bed again and look at the ceiling.
"What is that smell?" she frowns smelling something like a dead rat.
Suddenly the lights in the room were turned on, Matt wearing a towel was a feast for the eye. When Matt was about to grab some underwear when he stops and turns around and stare at her.
"Excuse me, will you mind closing your eyes?"
"What's there to be shy? I already saw it."
"Okay stop! I got it, I'll change outside."
She pouted.
"Your no fun" she murmured
Matt just shakes his head and smiles slightly.
"So mind telling me why I'm here and..."
She looks under the blanket and found what she wearing was a large white shirt, far from her getup last time she remembers.
"Is this your shirt?"
Matt cough.
"Maybe I could explain it slowly."
"Sure"
They look at each other, Matt was first to avert his eyes, making the situation awkward.
She just sighs and closes her eyes
"Go on, do what you need to do after that feed me because I can't move my legs."
"Of course."
She heard him opening cabinets from somewhere, she has to urge to open her eyes and peek but decides against it. After a few seconds, she heard the closing of the door.
She opens her eyes and looks at her current status.

Essentia Animus
Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
