Chapter 13 – Teaching a Lesson
Madam Garcy forced a smile on her face.
"This is a gift for you, and I don't normally drink wine, so I may need to decline."
"Is that so...?" Louise lazily looked at her before she looked at the wine.
"Throw it," she commanded Heron.
The three of them flinched. Then, one of the servants got angry and suddenly reprimanded her.
"What audacity! Madam Garcy went into the trouble of visiting you and bringing you a gift, and now you're just throwing it out? You're an ungrateful brat!"
Madam Garcy raised her hand to stop the servant before asking her.
"Is it not to your liking? If not, I can change it for you," she smiled at her warmly.
The girl chuckled and spoke in a low voice, but still enough for them to hear.
"This is one of the reasons why I don't like to deal with scheming wives."
Garcy's smile froze.
"What did you say?"
"It's fine if you didn't hear it," Louise answered playfully.
Then she turned her head and looked at the servant who recently spoke.
"Ungrateful?" she raised her brow. "As far as I remember, I specifically informed the Duke that I only need to meet him. I never mentioned that I wanted to meet anyone other than him."
She continued, "Even the first wife could understand this simple instruction. So then, what is the second wife doing here?"
Garcy's hand turned into a fist when she heard this.
Louise stared at the glass while Heron walked towards her and stood behind. Garcy lost her composure and looked at the girl coldly.
"I came here with a good intention, and this is how you're responding?!"
Louise laughed lightly.
"Ayah...Putting poison to destroy someone. Is this what you called good intention? I'd rather say it's quite vicious."

"You are speaking nonsense! I can't believe my husband brought someone without manners into this household. I had enough!"
"Then drink it."
Garcy was rendered speechless and stood there staring at the wine glass.
"Of course, you can't."
Upon saying this, Louise's eyes turned cold, and a bluish aura flashed through it. Then, the glass that contained the wine shattered into pieces.
The three visitors cringed and froze on the spot.
"My...my...seems like I still can't control my power, especially when I'm angry. My apologies, did I scare you?"
She propped her chin again.
"Let me show something as a thank you for your gift of wine."
She flicked her finger, and a considerable amount of pressure enveloped the room. Madam Garcy and her two minions were now deathly pale as they looked with shock towards the girl.
Louise stood from her seat and approached Garcy. Then she grabbed her necklace, and with a slight pull, it landed on her hand. "This recording Mana stone is much more valuable to me rather than your gift of wine. So I'll be taking it as my compensation. Now..." she looked at them impassively.
"SCRAM!"
In a blink of an eye, the three of them were thrown outside the palace. They were still frozen from fear, and Madam Garcy, supported by her two servants, immediately ran. They didn't even notice the strange looked of the guards, for they wanted to get away from that place the soonest possible.
When the Duke returned after his visit from the king, he immediately went to the west wing. He was startled when he noticed an adorable child sitting beside Louise.
Today Louise removed her veil since she was meeting the Duke. She looked at him and lightly smiled.
"Oh, you're back. This is Heron. She is my assistant." Louise' introduced.

The Duke nodded. He was starting to get used to Louise's way of doing things. So if she brought something in this house without his prior knowledge, he would simply shrug it off. So long as it will not harm them.
"How have you been? I know that you will not cause trouble, so I will not ask you about it."
"I'm doing good so far. By the way, I received some unexpected guests when you were out."
Duke Gerald paused and looked at her.
"Your second wife was curious about me. Oh, and she is also generous to bring me a gift." She said with sarcasm.
Louise motioned Heron, and the little girl placed the wine on the table.
"This is...wine?"
"It's wine, sure," She picked it up and shook it a little, "If you drink this, it will slowly destroy your insides, and you will suffer a bit before your death. This is an amazing gift, isn't it?"
After saying this, she put the wine back.
Louise doesn't need to explain it. The Duke was intelligent enough to deduce the rest of the details. He silently clenched his fist but suddenly paused.
"Are there any casualties?" He asked.
"Of course not. I look fine, am I not?"
"No, not you. I'm asking about your guests."
Louise rolled her eyes.
"I said it before; I don't want to deal with weaklings. That's not how I do things. So, I will not bother with them."
She flashed the recording device she got from Madam Garcy to Gerald and played the scene vividly in front of him. Then she put it back after.
Gerald sighed.
"My apologies for what she did." The Duke slightly bowed.
Louise casually waved her hands.
"No need. I got my compensation so you can deal with your wife in your method. By the way, what did you come here for?"
"Oh that, there was an invitation from my old friend to attend his birthday banquet, just that it's in another kingdom."
"You mean the king of the kingdom of Dusk," Louise stated.
Duke Gerald was seemingly used to her knowing almost everything and just simply nodded.
"He's inviting all of us, but I declined for my daughter Sylvy and you."
Louise raised her brows.
"Why not?"
"Eh? I thought that you would decline. You don't like to be with too much crowd."
"No, Not me, but your daughter Sylvy can go. I know that you declined for her because of her health but didn't I promised you that I would cure her."
"Oh, that. Yes, you did."
"I'll visit her later during the night."
"Thank you very much."
"And, I do hope that the thing about your second wife will not happen again. As I said, I don't deal with weak but, I'm not too lenient to let it pass for the second time," there was a hint of warning in her tone.
"It will not. I'll take care of it."
"Ah, and one more thing, don't be too hard on the two guards. You can reprimand them. But don't blame them if they trust your wife's words."
Gerald stared at her with some amazement.
"What?"
"I thought your not the type of person to care about others."
"Are you insulting me now?"
"No, I'm just stating the fact that is all."
Gerald smiled, stood from his seat, and left the room.
"Ayah, sometimes that old man is irritating," Louise spoke while staring at the closed door.

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
