《The Digital Dungon》Prologue

“Congratulations! New Dungeon Core, you have been granted a great destiny. That of a dungeon. To be the best dungeon out there, all you need to do is first summon your very own Dungeon Fairy.”
I awakened to this box in front of me. Well, I guess not awakened as that would imply I slept at all. It’s more like I become aware of my surroundings. I can’t describe how it feels. One moment I was experiencing a type of darkness. Not like I was dead, I don’t think. More like I had no real thoughts. Now though, I have soooooo many. The first, of course, is who I am? Followed by, where am I? Finally, what is a dungeon fairy?
I like where I awoke, it was beautiful and cozy with all the earth around me. Keeping me in place, all snuggled tight. The only problem is the rectangle that I could not get out of my face, with all of its words, and golden filigree. It isn’t enjoyable, and I want it to go away. To do that, I would have to move my dirt. It is not hard to do so. I mean, I already did, to see if I could. Which I promptly fell out of my spot because I dug straight down. How was I supposed to know which way was up?
I know I am whining and all that but I am angry about my situation. First, I was agitated that I woke up. Then Not one but two different screens appeared in my mind. Finally, I fall out of my perfectly comfortable position in my dirt. Now the first screen did disappear right after I finished reading it. Then the next one appeared right after.
“Would you like to summon your dungeon fairy? Your dungeon fairy will teach you the ways of a dungeon and help you understand the creatures you summon. Most importantly, your fairy is the last line of defense against any who wish you harm.”

I was all willing to summon my fairy then and there, but some ridiculous error message popped up, saying I did not have enough space to do so. “Error! Error! Please increase the size of your dungeon before summoning a Dungeon Fairy.” This one gave me a mind ache from the loud noise and flashing red light, it shot out, which was when I began to get angry. So I decided to ignore the first fairy message. I don’t know how long I stayed like that. All comfy and warm, but the damn words never left. Finally, I relented and decided to dig just a little bit. That’s when I fell out of my home. It was not far, but I am still mad about not being able to get back in. Grumbling about the damn message telling me to do things and messing up my home, I tried again to summon my fairy. That damn error message popped up instead, giving me another mind ache. I hate these boxes in my face.
Fine, I decided to expand outwards. I went about absorbing the rock around me. Not downwards, that would be ridiculous of me to make the same simple mistake twice. The expanse is about five meters in all other directions. I figure that should be good. Then I mentally click the summon button. Thankfully the box finally goes away. I looked around for what I thought a dungeon fairy would look like and saw nothing. That’s when a light began to shine a couple of meters away from my body. Well, I guess it would be my gem. Now that I looked at the sphere-shaped black gem with small designs, no, only two distinct white designs. A one and zero repeating randomly about my surface.
As I was lost in my body, the light kept growing. It took maybe five seconds or was that five hours. I can’t tell you the time at my location. When the light finally left, there you were. A white bunny with purple-tipped ears and feet, a red triangular gem is surrounded by those three black triangles on your head. Just floating about like you have no care in the world. I will ask my questions.

“Who are you? What are you? Why in the blazing depths of hell was I awoken? Finally, how can I go back to sleep?”
“Well….. My name is Calumon, and I am a Digital Monster or Digimon for short” Calumon twists their slightly big head to the side, speaking down to the New Digital Dungeon. A wide grin spread across their adorable face.
