《I might be Overpowered》Chapter 3 - Town of Unix

I have finally arrived in the town of Unix during noon. It was a big town and it was bustling with people. The market was extremely busy. And the first thing you see when you entered the town was a fountain that seemed to exude radiance.
First thing's first, I have to find the adventurer's guild. I asked someone who appeared to be a local about the whereabouts of the guild.
"Excuse me, sir. Can you give me some directions to the adventurer's guild?" I asked.
"Sure." He answered as he turned around to face me.
The man was tall, a little above 6 feet. He spoke in an australian kind of accent. He had a big scar on his face that just made his character scream 'veteran'.
"The name's Mead Rax by the way, my dad was drunk when he named me thus the name Mead, Hahahaha. I'm an adventurer. You should introduce yourself as well." He stated.
"Oh, right. My name is Shi."
(Shit. I never asked for mom's last name. I guess I'll use my former last name.)
''Shi Matsuri, just call me Shi. My mom named me after the Shi No Mori. I came here to become an adventurer."
"Nice to meet you, Shi. Named after that God forsaken forest, huh? Must be tough." he said.
"Not really." I answered.
(Does being named after a God forsaken forest actually matter though?)
I memorized the route as we walked. This place was more of a capital than a town. It was huge. We walked for a while until we finally reached our destination.
"Well, this is the place! Let's head in and get you registered."
"Alright."
We headed in and to my surprise, the place wasn't like in any manga I've read where there would be hooligan-looking adventurers sitting around an old wooden table getting drunk. Everything looked so clean and fancy! The tables were made of high quality wood that was polished and shined. The windows were so clear, and there was a chandelier!
We moved toward what seemed to be the reception desk.
"I'd like to collect my rewards for finishing this quest." Said, Mead.
He then took out what seemed to be the quest paper and a couple of horns.
The receptionist checked the contents of the paper and said,
"Everything seems to be accounted for." She said while smiling.

The receptionist was a woman in her 20's who was wearing a red guild staff uniform, had black hair, and was wearing glasses that fit her.
She rolls the paper and puts it in a drawer and then proceeds to take the horns.
"I will be right back. Let me just put these in storage and get your reward."
She then heads for the room right behind her.
"So, how long have you been an adventurer?" I asked Mead.
"It's been about 5 years maybe, 6? I don't really keep count." He answered.
("Wow you've been adventuring ever since I was 1 year old!" But of course I can't say that since I used a spell to change my physical form into that of a 20 year old. I doubt that the adventurer's guild would allow a child to become an adventurer.)
"Wow, so you are a veteran. It seemed like you were." I said.
"Hahaha I guess so."
"I do look an old man after all despite being only 21 years old." He added.
(21? Im fucking older than this battle-hardened dude. Jesus..)
"Not really. It was the scar that gave it away." I stated.
"So where did you get that scar?" I asked.
Mead stayed silent for a while and then finally said with a grim looking face,
"It was when I was just 15 years old. I was a farm boy then. Some bandits raided our village and took my sister. I tried to fight off the bandit who was trying to get my sister but I just wasn't strong enough..." He answered.
"I'm sorry."
"Eh, It's alright. You didn't know. And also the past is in the past. I've long since massacred the bandits who raided my village." He said with a laugh.
"I'm back." Said the receptionist.
She looked at me and said,
"Hello, My name is Alex, what can I do for you today?"
"Oh um, I'd like to register for the guild."
"Hmm, alright. There is a 1 platinum fee." She stated.
I give her 1 platinum.
(Were all these adventurers rich before they were adventurers!? How did they get enough money for the registration fee?)
"Ok, sign here."
I signed the document.
"Hey Mead, how did all these adventurer's pay the 1 platinum fee? Were they all rich before becoming adventurer's?" I whisper.

"There's this thing called a recommendation. If an rank A or above adventurer recommends you, you only have to pay 10 gold. Awesome right?"
"So, did you get recommended? And what's your rank by the way?" I asked.
"Yeah, I got recommended by my mentor. He's dead now. My rank is S. Hahahaha"
"Can't you recommend me or something?"
"I don't recommend weaklings." He said jokingly.
We laughed it out until the receptionist was done doing something adventurer's guild receptionists do.
"Here's your Guild Card, Inject it with some of your mana and you will officially become a part of the guild." She said.
And so I did, I injected it with some of my mana and there it showed my name, my age, my rank, and my stats.
"Thank you." I said to her.
"Congrats bud" Cheered, Mead.
"Ok. So let me explain how the guild works." Said the receptionist.
I looked at her, ready to listen.
"There are 10 ranks. From Rank F being the lowest to the Rank SSS being the highest. The notice board is over there. You can only take quests appropriate to your rank. But if you do manage to complete a higher level quest even when you didn't register the quest to the guild, you will receive the rewards. Of course we will demand some evidence such as a body part of the monster slain or the monster entirely. This might cause some agitation from the other adventurers who took on the quest you completed so I recommend you not to do it. If you want to team up with other adventurers, you can register your party to the guild and will therefore split the rewards between you and your members. There can be a maximum of 5 people in your party. If atleast 3 of them are of a higher rank, your party's rank will be able to take on quests relative to their ranks. That is all. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask." She smiled.
"Ok, I got it. Thank you very much." I thanked her.
"So what do you plan on doing now, Shi?" Asked, Mead.
"I plan to find an inn and sleep. It's getting late." I answered.
"Hmm, alright then. See you when I see you, mate." He said and then walked out the door.
I then turned to the receptionist.
"Excuse me, miss Alex. Do you happen to know where the inn is?"
"Oh yeah. There are a lot of inns here. I recommend the Sleeping Tiger it has the best rooms and service. After you leave the door, just keep walking right until you see a banner with a tiger on it."
"Alright, thank you."
I walked out the door and started heading to the direction she told me. I found the inn and walked inside. It was as extravagant as the Adventurer's Guild.
"Good evening, sir. What can I do for you today?"
"How much for a night?" I asked.
"1 Silver." She politely answered.
"I'll stay for a week."
"Ok, sir."
I reached into my pocket and remembered something..
(Oh shit! I only have platinum coins! Fuck!)
"Ahhh do you have change for platinum?" I asked
"No sir." Answered the girl who had a face of shock.
(I have to find a weapon shop.)
"Do you happen to know where a weapon shop is?"
"Yes sir. It's right outside across the inn."
"Thank you."
I walked toward the weapon shop and Lo and Behold they were closed.
(Fuck. I'm going to have to stay out here for the night.)
I jumped up the roof of the weapon shop.
"I guess this is where I'm sleeping tonight. Oh and I almost forgot, I should check my Guild Card."
(Since I trained for 2 years with mom I should have high stats.)
Name Shi Matsuri Age 6 Rank F Stats "The stats of an average human being is 10" Strength 58 Dexterity 94 Endurance 76 Agility 81 Intelligence 112 Wisdom 145 Charisma 51
(Shit, this is bad. It's portraying my real age. I shouldn't show this to other people.)
(Endurance 76... No wonder I survived the fall, and all the hellish training I received from mom..)
(Intelligence is Quite high, I used to be a math teacher after all.)
(Wisdom 145, Hehehehe)
(Charisma 51, Perks of being a teacher I guess.)
(My stats seem good. I haven't really seen anyone else's stats so I can't really say how good they are.)
(Well now that that's over, Time to sleep.)
