Bio: Born Japan 1976 May 25. Raised in a traditional family Bisso began life as a man of faith from the moment he started school. Every day followed the same schedule in assisting his family in the care taking of their shrine and common shinto practices. Life couldn’t be simpler throughout his primary schooling.
His life became slightly more exciting during his secondary schooling where he took an interest towards martial arts. Slowly as the years went by shinto practices were being replaced with sparring and exercise as Bisso became more infatuated with learning how to fight. With the support of his family finding time to continue their practices while he wasn’t training he developed an exceptionally calm mind while practicing.
It wasn’t long before Bisso was introduced to tournaments as his martial skill rapidly progressed reflecting the amount of time he spent practicing. Even though he was inexperienced compared to most competitors an irrepressible will and unbreakable resolve found him on the podium in most competitions.
Continuing to train day in day out Bisso reached a professional level of fighting. Under the moniker of the warrior monk he found his calling in life at the age of 20 in participating in a respectable level of combat sport while also taking over the majority of his families shrines duties. Consulting the idea of turning the courtyard into a training area for martial arts school to contribute to the shrine the family quickly went about providing for the venture.
By 21 Bisso was leading his own martial arts school and shrine in the countryside. The school quickly rose in reputation and saw a healthy amount of business and pupils. The school became his absolute passion in combining worship with training. Even amongst his busy schedule though he enjoyed time away with family and friends dispelling the idea he was a religious fanatic.

Everything went smoothly for another 4 years. Enjoying a social event at the shrine at the age of 25 during a festival the night was exceptional. Filled with friends, food and drink as well as a strong contingent of his pupils and their families the night reached its peak with the first fireworks display interrupted only by the yells of two children bursting in from a gate.
Moving over to the comotion Bisso found the children absolutely distraught. Asking them the same question earned the same reply. There's a man in the woods. Prying for more details or reason for such panic earned the same reply through sobs. With the police called the guests quickly dispersed to another venue recommended by Bisso as his assistants saw people out.
Unsure as to why the two children were so terrified regardless of appearing unharmed Bisso immediately set out to find the intruder who dared interrupt the night. Grabbing a lantern attached to a staff not wanting to waste time finding a torch he set out into the darkness. Walking through the serpent like paths trying to choke out the light licking the canopy of trees it wasn’t long until he found a distorted silhouette of a man up ahead.
As it approached with such outlandish strides Bisso assumed it to be some sort of demon at first regardless of hardly being considered a superstitious man. As the light unveiled what was behind the cloak of darkness he realized it could be no such thing. With such vicious talons tearing through tortured burnt skin the glassy eyes shivering in it’s melted face shone with the revelation that no god would allow it’s creation and no malignant spirit could conjure such a thing.
Petrified it wasn’t until the flash of it’s scythed arms and malevolent scream brought the rush of action. Instinctively raising the staff in defence while stepping away saw it split in two seeing the lantern tumbling to the ground. Recoiling in shock saw the creature push the advantage drawing first blood.

With the lantern starting a small fire Bisso found his resolve tested for the first time in his life. Parrying and dodging a flurry of slashes saw him accumulating terrible lacerations mounting up to a grievous amount of bodily harm. Desperately trying to understand what the beast was his mind was reeling preventing him from mounting an effective defence until any hope seemed to be smothered as he was forced to his knees while managing to drive one of the fractured halves of the staff into the creature.
Sending it back into the darkness to evaluate it’s wound Bisso found the final test of the fight was at hand. With substantial blood loss and damaged sinew any attempt to rise to his feet brought about the aberration attacking him to the forefront of his mind. Sheer determination became replaced by palpable fear with every attempt to move as the thought of seeing that creature again rendered his attempts futile.
With the sound of leaves and twigs being crushed rapidly alongside a beastial grunting he found himself able to drive the need to understand the creature from his mind. With the fire from the lantern at its peak and the last of his strength he commanded damaged sinew and rendered muscle to drive him upward with the remaining fractured half of the staff. With a thrust of perfected technique and absolutely desperation he found his weapon impaled through the skull of the creature.
Collapsing onto the fire the creature fell still smothering the light leaving Bisso in true darkness facing the real test. Surrogate thoughts immediately bombarded his mind threatening to break his mind as it already had his body. Getting to his feet regardless of his wounds a wet slap around his rib cage and previously inconspicuous gelatinous predator begin tightening its grip while slipping back threatening to tear away the skin. With the pressure about to overcome his ribs and rip away what they protected a shot tore through the night.
Released from it’s grip and watching the creature dissolve on the ground soldiers assisted Bisso as the rest engaged what other otherworldly predators stalked the woods. Withdrawn to a helicopter and quickly bandaged up he watched out the open door as they flew over the hills and away from the fireworks that promised such a fantastic night that he might not get to enjoy ever again.
Returned to the base of operations the soldiers originated from Bisso was made aware of the task force that saved his life and saw shadowfall as the only hope the world had after what he witnessed. On completing his training Bisso quickly established himself again as an indomitable force pushing through the worst the abyss had to offer now he’d been given the knowledge and training to combat it.
Every day he continued the same routines as he did a child though it was no longer a form of faith and enjoyment. Training was completed purely for the sake of survival and socialising to keep his comrades in check for the next confrontation with unmentionable horrors. Continuing his shinto practices brought many to believe he maintained his faith but in those eyes that were so intent in murdering him he saw nothing bringing about a terrible revelation he sealed away. Now it was simply a tool to maintain his mind in between his exposure to the ravenous depths.

Midnight Origins: Arrival
On a lush planet known as Bhar, Verun is now the leading nation in the development of the rivaled schools of Magic and Science. Having brought forth an era of peace and prosperity for themselves through the development of Magitech, The High council was eager to spread their knowledge and beliefs to the furthest reaches of the continent, with the goal of ending senseless conflicts and prioritizing advancements in Magitech and improving the quality of life. This ambition, however, is not without opposition. Most followers side with one school or another, believing it is superior in nature. This conflict dates back to the very beginning of civilization itself, where it is believed by both sides that their gods descended from the heavens, bestowing upon them the knowledge that would bring the world into a new age. And though some took great interest in their differences, others would seek to convert each other through any means necessary. That being the case, The High council, leaders of Verun, had made the necessary preparations to handle threats and attempt diplomacy between the remaining opposers. Talented volunteers were hand chosen to be among the military, tasked with protecting the nation from both internal and external threats. And although non-biological creations have improved quality of life, they are not yet capable of replacing the military. The necessary research and development for such a thing was thought to be decades away, until Councilman Eranor encountered an anomaly in his facility…
