《Pleasant Nothings》Sweet Music

After a few minutes of deliberation, it was decided. I was going to rent a car and drive to Grans. I had never driven that far before. I was uncertain if I would be able to make the trip by myself, but I had to. So, I went to Enterprise filled out the forms and signed my life away to drive away in a Nissan Rogue with only a cd player as comfort. I drove over to mum's house and picked up a few of my things and some cd's that mom still had there lying around. She was old school, she said. She liked having music at her fingertips. It did not matter how many times I told her that mp3's were at her fingertips, and she could listen to her entire album case online. She said the quality was not the same, and she just did not think that way. She needed to see what she wanted to listen to. She needed to allow her cravings for an artist to appear when she looked over her cd cases. It was her way, her method, she said, and no amount of bugging her was going to change that. Luckily, she had not changed much since the last time I was home, so I rummaged through her cd albums and found what I was looking for and left the house. I took one last deep breath before I headed out. Mum's house smelled of toast and apricots and coffee. It smelled of home. I loved it to my core. I loved her to my core and Gran. I was so worried. I was determined to get there, and I was not going to let a little thing like driving stand in my way. If only I had gone with mum when she asked. I could have missed a few classes. I just hesitated, and I couldn't make up my mind in time, and she had left to grans.

I left mums and headed to the highway. I had a twelve-hour drive ahead of me. Going from New York to Tennessee was a long trip. It did not matter the path you took. You were in for a grueling drive. I put in a cd. I did not even look who it was. The music started, and it was Jimmy Buffet. I had not heard mom play this cd in years. She loved Margaritaville, and she and Gran would laugh as they drank their margaritas to that song. Gran had enjoyed it as much as my mum. It was such an odd song for them to both like. Gran was all jazz, blues, and opera, and mom was all rock and roll, country, and alternative. But they shared folk. They both loved folk music and could not get enough of Jimmy Buffet singing Margaritaville. It was one of the best memories I had of mum and Gran.

Paradigm Shift - New Beginnings
The known universe is facing an invasion from a foe that can rewrite the natural laws and that will destroy everyting we know. Derrick is ripped from his world and sent to the newest incursion point of an enemy he doesn't even know exists. He is the hail mary or kitchen sink of the universe and it will be up to him to adapt to his new world and become strong enough to survive and to save the universe. ********* Author's Note ********* This is my first published book so feedback would be appreciated. A couple of caveats. First this story is about the details, if you don't enjoy reading and finding the easter eggs or just like to speed read through the chapters you will probably not enjoy it. Second for those that do not like the Harem tag I just want to state that this is going to be a matriarchal society and the women will outnumber the men 5-1. That being the case and because of the culture that I imagine would arise from this I felt it fair to put that tag out there. However, the main character isn't going to be picking up women left and right. This is not a typical harem story. Image was googled so I have no rights to it

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
