《Cosmic Plague》Chapter 2 - Dead Demon

Chapter 2
The moon of Planet Yamer - Chochica Empire:
Nazar, a human who rules over an alien empire, a three thousand years dark sorcerer - Darkness, a high priest - Baros, and an artificially created Chochican - Lian - were standing on top of the moon.
They were looking at the dead body of a crimson demon.
Darkness started to analyse the demon.
She crouched down and analysed it physically.
While doing that, a red magical circle appeared beneath the demon.
It was a red demon with grey wings.
A minute passed and she finally had something to say.
“I think this might be-- Hey, do you know how demon classification works?”
She wanted to say something but instead asked a question.
“Yes,” Nazar replied as he nodded his head. “They are classified into three different classes. Low-class, middle-class, and high-class. Low-class demons in the third dimensional plane of existence are powerful enough to destroy a universe - but it's only the highest in this rank. Highest ranked middle-class are capable of destroying multiple universes. High-class demons are capable of destroying conventional multiverse. But that’s wrong.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. High-class demons are said to be capable of destroying the multiverse but that’s wrong. Only the 12 heads of the 12 clans - who are the highest-ranked high-class demons - are capable of doing so. High-class can destroy multiple universes - on a much higher scale than the middle class - but they are not on the level of 12 heads of the demon clans. So, let’s just say, if a middle-class could destroy 3 universes, high-class would be able to destroy 8.”
She exhaled slowly.
“I see. Well, this one is definitely a low-class demon. So, we should be happy that it was not someone powerful.”
“Yes, you are right. I accidentally killed one of the 12 leaders in another timeline but luckily someone saved it before a universe died.”
Darkness looked surprised but she didn’t really ask any questions.
She still had no idea what Nazar meant by the other timeline.
So, she gave up and focused on her task.
“From what I can sense from him, he seemed to have been a low-class demon,” she repeated herself so Nazar would pay more attention to her words.
“And how can you tell?” Nazar asked.
“That’s a good question,” Darkness said as a proud smile appeared on her face. “A low-class demon is a little shorter than the rest and their wings are also smaller.”
Nazar and the others were confused.
“You see, low-class demons are around 2 meters tall - if we use Earth measurements. Middle-class demons are about 3 meters tall and high-class are 5 meters tall.”
“Huh? I have met both middle-class and high-class and they all appear the same?”
“Perception.”
Nazar, Baros and Lian exchanged confused glances.
“It shows itself as small as possible - because they want you to see them as weaker.”
She continued to talk as she analysed the dead demon.
“The more you think of them as weak, the better for them.”
“You sure do know a lot, huh?” Lian added.
“Of course.”
Darkness let out a sigh.
“But they are still extremely powerful. So, how can anyone kill them?”
“Oh, I have killed a few before. But that timeline doesn’t exist anymore. So...” Nazar tried to keep a happy smile but it was on the brink of vanishing. "I kind of miss the old timeline."
She turned around and looked at him in surprise.

Nazar fixed his posture and forced a smile.
“So, what do you think? How was this demon killed, Darkness?”
She thought about it.
She analysed it a little more.
“It seems to have fought someone extremely powerful. And from what I am seeing, it was most likely yesterday since the body doesn't look very new but also not incredibly old either. The blood looks dry. It also looks like he wasn't killed here but instead had placed her by someone."
"Yeah, I don't see any blood around," Nazar nodded as he looked around using his enhanced vision.
"His right hand is also broken, and his wings are ripped apart.”
The wings of the dead demon were laying next to the body.
“His heart is taken out completely. But more than that...”
When Darkness really thought about it, she felt a chill run down her body.
“His magical energies have been stolen.”
Nazar sucked in a breath.
“Oh...”
Seeing Nazar’s worried expression, Lian asked Darkness a question.
“Anything else?”
“Well, I am not sure what else is there to say about this corpse...”
Her response made the handsome Baros frown.
“Well, that’s disappointing.”
Darkness didn’t say anything and did her best to ignore Baros.
“Well, what do you say then, Darkness?”
Nazar, who had a smile on his face once again spoke.
“That’s all I have to say. I got nothing else to say.”
She looked confused, so Baros spoke.
“Now, now, Darkness...”
As he started to speak with a wide smile, Darkness stood up and looked at him.
“Surely you know what he is asking, right?”
She was confused for a second.
“Ah.”
But then she realised what he meant.
She looked at Nazar.
“Oh, come on now,” she frowned.
“Well, that’s what I meant by help. I probably could have done this myself.”
“Then why didn’t you?”
He didn’t expect her to ask him that question.
“Well...”
He looked flustered for a second.
He raised his hand and started scratching his right cheek.
“Its just that magic can be too unpredictable for me.”
Darkness wanted to scream, "Is that it?!" but instead swallowed her words and let out an exasperated sigh.
“Fine. I will help you locate where the energy is taken.”
“Thank you,” Nazar said as he tilted his head to the right little and smiled.
Darkness took a few steps away from Nazar, Lian and Baros.
She was reciting a magic spell.
After walking for about 10 seconds, she started to levitate.
Nazar and the others watched her.
Then suddenly, a massive red magical circle appeared below all of them.
It also covered the demon.
Lian and Baros jumped back and stood outside of the magical circle. But Nazar didn’t even move.
Although he did say magic is unpredictable to him, he doesn't fear the effects it might have.
The magical started to light up. It also made a very loud static-like noise.
Then a massive energy beam was shot up towards the empty space.
Nazar looked up to check if there was anything close by that this energy beam could destroy. Luckily, there was none.
Of course, there were a few spaceships and satellites, but they were extremely far away.
The magical circle got brighter and brighter.
Lian and Baros had to cover their eyes because of how bright it was.
Nazar didn’t even flinch. After all, he had stared at a supernova before and did not bulge.
“Hmph. Weaklings.”
Darkness said that but no one heard her except for Nazar.

Darkness started chanting a spell.

Unknown planet:
On this planet where there is nothing but mountains.
In one of these mountains, thousands of people had gathered together.
Inside these mountain ranges, people were wearing black robes and standing in a circle.
They were holding their hands up.
Their mouths were moving but no voice came out of it.
And in between them, there was a beautiful and busty woman lying down.
Her hands were tied behind her back. And so were her legs.
She was trying to move but couldn’t move at all.
“Mmmmph!”
She tried to speak but couldn’t because there was a cloth inside her mouth.
She looked around her and saw nothing but people.
These people were noticeably short - as in perhaps the highest was around 1.50 meters tall. And she could only a little of their faces, but they looked very malnourished.
But she was different than them.
Compared to them, she seemed quite tall. She stood at 1.74 meters tall.
From her looks, she looked like she was in her late teens.
She had long black hair and grey eyes. She had white skin and was wearing clothes that seemed it was from Earth. She was wearing ripped black jeans and a white t-shirt.
As she kept on looking around, she noticed something.
She noticed that their hands started to light up.
Weird red energy started to shoot up.
She forced her head to look up and saw a massive red energy ball floating very high.
“....!”
The weird energy from their hands was making the energy ball grow in size. It was also starting to get brighter and brighter.
“”
“”
“”
They all started to say something out loud but she could not understand it.
She did notice that their mouths were moving earlier but they started to speak louder now.
She heard it echo in the mountains.
“...?!”
“”
“”
“”
The energy ball started to change its colour from a very red to pale red.
“”
“”
“”
As soon as they said that together, the energy ball started to come down.
The woman’s eyes opened wide in surprise and fear.
And then it was shot towards her.
She felt this energy ball entering her body.
“Arrghhh?!?!”
This woman also felt intense pain throughout her body.
The pain throughout her body kept on increasing.
While that was happening, she started to float.
Before she even knew it, she was floating a meter above the ground.
“Arghg-- Wuh-what?”
She cried out in pain, but she was no longer feeling any pain all of a sudden.
“What…?”
This confused woman looked at the people around her but they were all laying on the ground now.
“Did… Did I do that…?”
She wanted to throw up just with the thought of that.
She slowly turned around and looked at all those people laying down around her in horror.
“N-no. No, no, no, no… I didn’t do that… did I-- huh…?”
She had a confused look in her eyes all of a sudden.
All that fear and horror was gone suddenly.
She saw her skin colour change from white to pink.
“What… Who are yo--”
Inside her mind, she was someone wearing black robes attack her.
And then her vision blackened.
Something changed within her.
“Oh. So, this is the new host body, huh?”
She sounded the same, but it was different. It was colder and fiercer.
She looked at this body and analysed it.
“Sigh. This is not really a body for battles.”
She shrugged and started to fly up slowly.
“My consciousness is taking over this body now. She is weak and she cannot resist me. So, it will be done in a minute.”
She smiled.
“Well, this will be a piece of cake.”
She then narrowed her eyes.
“Now, then, Nazar...”
Her speed increased significantly.
“It’s time for you to die.”
(Or I will die trying.)

Planet Yamer’s moon:
Baros and Lian were holding their hands up, to cover their eyes from the very bright light that was being emitted from the magical circle.
“Why is this so bright?” Baros said slowly to Lian.
“I don’t know,” Lian replied.
Inside the circle, Nazar started to see Darkness struggle a little.
She thought this will be easy, but it was taking her a long time to figure out the exact location of the demon’s energies.
“What’s taking so long, Darkness?”
“It hasn’t even been a minute yet, you damned human.”
She rebuked loudly.
“Yeah, but I thought you were better than this.”
“Hmph. I am--”
Then she suddenly felt something.
Something from the planet below.
All of a sudden, both the light and the sound vanished.
Darkness stopped levitating and walked closer to Nazar.
“It’s too late, but I found it.”
“Oh?” Baros said as he scratched his eyes.
“It’s on the east side of Planet Yamer. I felt a sudden rise in demonic magic.”
“We need to get there quickly-- Wha...t?”
As Lian was speaking, another magical circle appeared beneath them.
“I will teleport you there. But it's not the exact location. I cannot locate the exact location of it. It’s a little too much. The… “aura” if you will - is so big that it covers miles-- Wait, Nazar.”
Darkness would call Nazar ‘human’ or ‘pathetic human’ as an insult, but occasionally, when she is not angry, she calls him by his name.
“Hm?”
Nazar looked surprised and confused.
“Can’t you detect it yourself?”
Finding magical energy shouldn’t be so hard. He can feel an angel’s presence as soon as they enter this universe, so finding demonic energy shouldn’t be hard at all.
“I could if I tried.”
What he didn’t tell her is that he did try and didn’t find the demonic magic. It was almost if they had specifically hidden it from him So when he looked for the exact energy, he couldn’t find it. He asked the magicians of his empire for help, but their efforts failed short. Darkness was the only other option for him to call upon.
“But magic is not my thing. I try to use the help of professionals instead of doing it myself.”
Darkness frowned once she heard that.
“I don’t suppose you will help us?”
Darkness clicked her tongue.
“I am a little interested in the demonic energy… But I won't risk my life.”
“Okay.”
They were teleported to the surface of Planet Yamer.
It was like any other planet in Chochica Empire. It resembled an advanced Earth.
Tall buildings everywhere, people that had similar features as humans, flying cars, teleportation hubs, and lights everywhere. It didn’t even feel like the night.
Nazar and the others appeared on top of the tallest building in the city. It is about 2,000 meters tall.
“Okay, it should be right around here, right?” Nazar muttered to himself.
