Chapter 49 - Birthday Gift – Part 10

Sunday, 23rd of May – London, UK – Earth:

In the morning, Nazar was sitting on the floor in front of the blank TV screen with his back pressed against his bed, in which Laura was sleeping.

He was holding his palms together and in it, two chips were floating.

He had shut off his brain for a few hours but after his brain turned on automatically, he didn’t want to shut it off again, so instead, he started working on recreating Solace.

In his parent's home, he had kept the original chip of Solace.

Now that he has that, he wants to recreate a newer version but based on the old one.

As he was sitting down, he thought about how he and Laura met.

But it was not such a good memory.

22nd of May 2019 – London, UK – Earth:

It was Nazar’s 19th birthday. And just like many years before that, Chris and Harry had invited him out.

Right now, there were standing in front of a cinema.

“Why do I have to come out today of all days?!”

Nazar was worried that he might not have enough time to get to the event on Chias.

“Eh, because it’s fun.”

“Well, technically we just want to have fun but we are using your birthday as an excuse.”

“I wish I could die,” Nazar said slowly.

As they were standing in front of it, a taxi stopped.

Ashley and Rebecca got out of it.

Seeing that, Nazar turned around and started to walk towards the entrance of the cinema.

But Ashley ran after him and said something to him slowly.

“Yo, Nazar, I got someone for you.”

Nazar sighed.

“What do you want, Ash?”

“Becky’s friend… She is the one you have been looking for. She is totally your type.”

“Oh, is that so?”

“Dude, she is literally perfection.”

“Perfection, huh?”

Nazar turned around. As he did, his eyes widened in surprise.

He was looking at a beautiful busty woman in a black skirt and a grey top. She had brown eyes and long black hair that was braided at her right side.

(Laura…?)

He quickly averted his gaze.

(Shit! The probability of us meeting here… Is that even possible?)

It has been hundreds of years since he had seen here but even then, he had never forgotten her. He didn’t want to admit but he still held those feelings for her.

Nazar took a deep breath.

(A long time ago, I told someone that “Us powerful beings get over things quicker” but thinking about it now, it wasn't true 100%. I wish I could get over some stuff but it's harder than it looks.)

He sighed.

Nazar glanced over to Laura who, of course, didn’t know him at all.

(I never noticed how great she looks in a black skirt.)

He looked at her closely without anyone noticing her.

(Wait, there is something different about her looks, isn’t it?)

He thought back to the Laura he knew and tried to compare it.

(In the original timeline, she never really had time for herself and never really cared about her looks. But here she does, so she looks so much better.)

He let out another sigh.

He walked closer to her and shook her hand.

“I am Nazar. Nice to meet you.”

“Laura Marino.”

Laura felt a little uneasy in her heart.

“Have we met before?”

Nazar was surprised but he didn’t show it on his face.

(Could it be…?)

“No, I don’t think so,” Nazar said as he smiled.

(The Nameless One had placed weird energy within her, so maybe…)

“I see. I thought you looked familiar for a second. My bad.”

“Oh, no it’s okay.”

(Nah, I highly doubt she would remember. But it is possible that she might have an idea of the other timeline somehow. It could be interesting if she remembered the other timeline… Right?)

They soon walked into the cinema.

Halfway through the movie, Nazar felt something on Earth.

Unknown energy. Or rather a person.

(Someone entered Earth?)

He was sitting besides Laura, so he smiled and apologised before leaving the theatre.

Of course, he told them that he was going to the bathroom and will be back soon.

As soon as he left, he vanished into thin air and reappeared above the city.

He searched the whole planet and finally managed to find who he was looking for.

Whoever it was, they were moving at an insane speed.

They had run around the globe many times over.

Whoever it was, they covered every inch of the planet in a second.

Nazar had an idea who it was.

Sighing, he thought about how he should catch them.

He is extremely fast but its nowhere near on this person’s level.

(There is no way I can catch him. Maybe I should create a specific form just for this…? Wait!)

Nazar noticed that in time he was thinking, this other person had covered the planet three more times.

(I have an energy form… So, if I make that energy and speed then… Yep! That shall work.)

Nazar closed his eyes.

(Editing [Personality/Existence].)

He thought about what new features he should add in this form.

(Since it will be speed and energy-based… Actually, that should be it. I don’t need anything else in this form.)

Nazar opened his eyes.

(Calculating…)

He used his detection power to keep track of this invader.

(Calculating…)

Calculating the invader’s speed, he noticed that whoever it was, they were moving hundreds of times faster than the speed of light.

(Completed.)

A thin smile appeared on his face.

(Accessing Nazar 2.0.)

His form changed.

It was a man made of nothing but energy.

As soon as his form change, Nazar said, “Light speed.”

And then he moved.

In an instant, he was on the other side of the planet.

He was moving many times faster than the speed of light, but it was not enough to catch up to the invader.

He could feel the presence of the invader but he could not catch him at all. In fact, he couldn't even see the invader.

“S”

Nazar was flying slightly above the ground at a speed faster than light speed.

“L”

Suddenly, he heard something.

“O”

(Is that even…?)

“W”

Nazar constantly increased his speed. But even then, he could hear something. It shouldn't be possible but he could hear the other person.

He was tracking the invader.

“P”

He knew the invader was moving around the planet, but he couldn’t trace him properly.

“O”

The invader seemed to be slowing down slightly.

“K”

(S. L. O. W. P. O. K…)

“E!”

Nazar’s eyes widened.

He saw a black streak moving alongside him.

“That bastard… How?”

Nazar knew who it was.

(Rewind!)

Rewind is a member of the Death 100. He was a killer who loved killing people in his world. But one day, he came into contact with this cosmic energy which gave him powers.

After being imbued with cosmic energy, he gained an unbelievable level of speed. He was so fast that he can never slow down, even if he wants to. The slowest he can move is a few times the speed of light.

He can slow down slightly below that by vibrating his molecules. However, he cannot keep himself at that level for more than five seconds.

Even though he is someone who can never slow down and is always on the move, he doesn’t need to eat food or drink. Cosmic energy within him provides him with a lot of stamina.

However, it comes with a cost. Once those energies run out, he will die.

As to when those energies will run out, no one knows. But for now, Rewind is unstoppable.

Ever since gaining powers, he not only use it to kill people but carry out bounties too.

He went from a killer who loved killing to someone who will carry out any kind of jobs for money.

However, most of his jobs revolve around killing.

“REEEEEEEEEEEWIIIIND!!”

Nazar shouted on top of his lungs.

Moving at this speed, it shouldn’t be possible, but the invader heard him, so he slowed down even more.

Rewind was running besides Nazar.

“Sup, slowpoke?”

“What are you doing here?!”

Nazar was manipulating the molecules of the world to create a sound so only he and Rewind can hear. And of course, Rewind was doing something similar to have Nazar hear him.

They were moving so fast that no one could even see them.

Even though Rewind had slowed down, he still looked like a blur to Nazar.

“I have a bounty here, my man!!”

Rewind sounded very excited.

“Ugh! Are you kidding me?”

Nazar was trying to increase his speed and Rewind was reducing it but even then, Rewind was much faster than him.

“I am looking for a magical book called Mar La Feri. Some people have translated it to English as [The Free Sun]. No idea what it does but it’s a demonic magic book which is… I honestly don’t know what it does. But it pays a lot. And I got to kill a few people. Of course, bad people.”

Rewind laughed.

Nazar felt a chill ran down his body once he heard it.

(This guy once killed every single person on a planet much bigger than earth in an instant. If he…)

Nazar didn't want to think like that.

“As to who is bad and who is good… No idea, my man. Don't worry, I won't kill everyone on this planet."

“REWIND!”

Nazar gritted his teeth.

“HOW THE HELL DID YOU ENTER THIS PLANET?!”

“Oh? Is that all you want to know?”

Nazar took a deep breath as he waited for his reply.

He thought Rewind was working with someone extremely powerful. Lucifer had designed the barrier to hold off aliens off this planet.

He could make it impenetrable for demons and angels too but Heaven and Hell had decided that they will stay away from Earth at all costs.

“As you know, I have insane super speed, right?”

“Yes, I know that!”

Nazar sounded angry.

“I can warp space which allows me to move even through space. I can go to other planets without needing ground to step on. I am practically invisible too. Oh, and I can create after images too.”

Rewind sounded proud of himself.

“Due to my insane speed and unique vibrational ability, I am practically invulnerable.”

“No, you are not!” Nazar said out loud. “You just steal the momentum from almost all attacks before it hits you. Then you move so fast, creating an after-image which takes the damage. And people think that you are invulnerable.”

They were moving through the many cities and mountains and oceans of the world.

Nazar noticed that his speed was slowing down since he was using a lot of energy.

(Recharge!)

“Moving on. I can phase through everything. Including something like light. I can do this by vibrating my molecules.”

Nazar was not sure what he meant. He wasn’t sure how it is possible to phase through light.

(Light-based constructs, he mean?)

“And for the final one… My trump card…”

Nazar gulped.

“I am out of sync with time and reality. Last time that angel killed me… Hehe… I remember that.”

Nazar knew that he remembers the original timeline but he never had the time to ask him.

“So, I am immune to reality warping. And if you try to remove me from the timeline… Hehe… That won’t work either.”

Nazar sighed.

“If you are done, leave! Leave this planet. You won’t find the--”

“Oh, I already did. I did just a moment ago.”

“Huh?”

Nazar and Rewind were moving around the world at the same time but during that time, Rewind had gone somewhere else and picked up the book.

“It was being kept by some demon worshippers. Disgusting, I know.”

“Wait--”

“See ya, slowpoke!”

Rewind vibrated his hand’s molecules and slowed it down.

“…?”

He waved to Nazar before vanishing before him.

“Shit!”

Nazar tried to search for him but he was gone. Nazar couldn't trace him anywhere in this galaxy.

A long time ago, when Nazar first learned that he remembered the other world, Rewind had personally asked him to not tell anyone about him, including his AI.

To Rewind’s surprise, Nazar kept it a secret.

Nazar went back to the cinema and continued watching the movie.

He tried finding out where he had taken the demonic magic book, but he never found out.

Mainly because Rewind died a few weeks later.

He had lost all his energies and perished into nothingness.

Now, Nazar felt a little sad thinking about Rewind. Even though they started out as enemies, but over time, they became friends.

That’s the case with most of Nazar’s friends.

They start out as enemies but over time, some of them become friends and allies.

Nazar sighed deeply as he worked on the chips.

He wasn’t even touching but he was working on it.

“If I tried…”

Even though Rewind was a serial killer who enjoyed killing more than anything, Nazar still felt a little sad when he remembers that he is no longer alive.

The problem with him is, he will never end up in Hell, Heaven or the Void.

(Recharge! NGH?!)

Nazar felt pain as he used a recharge. He wasn't sure why but he felt physical and mental pain.

(What is... Anyway.)

“I could save him.”

“Save who?”

Nazar healed a voice behind him, looking back he saw Laura scratching her eyes.

“Oh, it’s someone I knew. He is dead now.”

“Oh…”

Laura was not sure how to take it.

“Well, he was a villain. So…”

“Ah.”

She draped the bedsheets around her naked body and stood up.

She went near Nazar and sat next to him.

Nazar glanced at her with the corner of his eye.

"I don't want to distract what you doing. Haha."

"Hm? Oh."

“So, what are you doing?”

“Rebuilding Solace.”

“What…? What happened to her?”

Laura had a troubled expression.

“I have a feeling she might have told you about someone messing with her? And me too?”

Laura nodded.

“Well, I am trying to fix her. So, I am going to rebuild her from scratch and hopefully won’t get messed with again by whoever they are. Oh, and she won’t remember you.”

“Ah, I see."

She wasn't sure how to feel about that.

"But I will return her memories to her once I am done with all this."

She wasn't sure what Nazar was really talking about, so she didn't pay it a lot of attention.

"Last night was great, so I am going to treat you to some breakfast."

Laura kissed him on the cheek and stood up.

"Can you even cook?"

"Of course," she said as she puffed her cheeks.

"I see."

“Do you have anything in the fridge?”

She crouched down a little and started to whisper in his ear.

"Or would you like to eat me?"

"I am not a cannibal."

She sighed as she stood.

"And no, I have nothing in the fridge."

“Okay, I will buy some stuff."

She dropped the bedsheet and started changing clothes.

“Why don’t you use the device I gave you?”

“Oh shit, I totally forgot about that.”

She laughed.

“So, I just have to tap my chest twice and it will work?”

“Yes.”

She tapped it twice and then clothes appeared around her.

Nazar looked back and noticed that she was wearing a black skirt and a grey top.

“By the way, you owe me money.”

“Oh, sorry about that. How much was it?”

“Not much, just around £100.”

“Okay.”

“You don’t have to… Wait, you are a king, right?”

Nazar nodded.

“Well, since you are rich, pay up, bitch.”

“Yes, I will, ma’am.”

“Oh, and interest too.”

Nazar laughed.

“Sure.”

Laura picked up her purse.

“By the way, when are you going to be free?”

“Well, I can always free myself.”

“Oh, no. I won’t ask you to change your schedule. Just let me know when you are free.”

“I don’t know, honestly. I have to deal with everything on Chias until I remake Solace. It will take a few days.”

“I see. Good luck with that,” she said as she smiled.

She opened the door.

“When you are free, let’s go somewhere. All of us together. Like 2 years ago.”

“…”

Nazar remembered what the other being had told him. He remembered what he had told him about speaking to illusions.

“Sure.”

She was about to leave but Nazar said something.

"Wait, a minute."

"Hm?"

Laura turned around with her head tilted a little in confusion.

"Will help me rebuild Solace? I could use the help of a neuroscientist. I am building her differently. So, I could use your help."

"Aren't you super smart?"

"I am. But anything related to biology is not my thing."

"I see. Well, I might have a PhD in neuroscience," Laura said with a smug smile. "But I am not sure what I can do."

"I see..."

Nazar sounded disappointed.

"But I will help anyway."

"Thanks."

"I want to see how you build her."

She closed the door behind her and Nazar continued working on Solace.

(Sigh.)

He hears a voice in his head.

(Erasing your memories didn't work the way I had planned.)

Nazar's body froze in fear.

(Well, I guess I will have to move onto my next plan.)

"Wh-what--"

(One day you will be a God again. And it will be very soon.)

Nazar gulped.

(I can become a God temporarily but you… You are the main one. If you don't want to, we will never become God.)

Nazar heard a laugh in his head.

(But that will happen. Very soon. Gehehehehehe…)

The voice vanished but Nazar sat on the floor with a horrified look on his face.
