Chapter 113

Arc 13- Public Enemy No.1 - Part 15

"Speak, Nazar!"

Hearing the angry sound of Lilian - commonly known as Darkness - Nazar averted his gaze.

"What if he had died?"

"I expected you to come. So, it all worked out in the end."

Darkness frowned.

He still found it surprising that she showed different emotions.

“I used to think you were better than this. Better than most, yet here we are.”

Darkness is correct.

Nazar is far from the perfect king some think, he lets his sadistic side take over once in a while which causes problems.

Baros was too caught up in examining his halo and new existence to realise how “rude” Darkness was being.

"Can we talk about this some other time, Darkness? Please?”

She narrowed her eyes in a confused manner.

"Look, with the--"

Nazar tried to come up with an excuse, but he gave up and sighed.

Darkness rolled her eyes.

"Take your time and come up with excuses. But next time…"

Seeing her angry glare, Nazar averted his gaze.

"Before you get us killed, think."

Nazar nodded, “Yes, yes, sorry.”

Darkness was not convinced by his apology.

Both of them nearly died today and Nazar could have prevented that but did not do anything.

“Did you want for his halo to appear?”

Nazar did not say anything.

Darkness frowned and changed the subject.

"And who is this invisible person next to you? It’s bothersome."

Nazar looked at the other person near him, who seemed very surprised.

"Darkness specialises in demonic magic, especially the soul aspect of it. She is also the one who created Baros' [Soul Sword]."

"A-ah," he said nervously. "I guess there is no other choice…"

Reflecting the light rays, his form became visible, which caused Darkness to gasp in surprise and Baros to pay attention to his surroundings.

“You are… Huh?”

The person who revealed himself looked exactly like Nazar, but slightly older looking. His hair and eyes were black, unlike Nazar.

“I am Nazar of Universe-11.”

Darkness seemed surprised, but Baros seems to have met him before, so he did not react in any way.

“I came here to speak to Prime.”

The other two were confused about what he meant by “Prime”, but chose not to ask questions.

“Anyway, can you guys talk about this later? I want to talk to Prime here.”

“Stop calling me Prime. I have a name.”

“You call me ‘Eleven’ so fuck you.”

Nazar groaned.

He is Nazar, alright, Darkness thought.

“Let’s go,” a red magical circle appeared beneath Darkness and Baros, teleporting them to another place.

Once they left, Nazar snapped his fingers.

“Hm?”

“I placed a barrier around the solar system for now. Can’t deal with these idiots again. ”

Nazar looked at his counterpart and narrowed his eyes.

“So, what did you want to talk about?”

“The psychic wave… Why did you not stop it?”

Nazar looked down.

“If I can stop it from entering my reality, I am sure you could have stopped the whole thing. So, why did you not?”

“I was removed from reality,” he sounded annoyed. “I would have if I could.”

“I see...” Nazar (of Universe-11) was not sure how to react to that.

Leaving aside his conflicted feelings, he continued in a serious tone.

“I don’t want my Emma to remember the old reality. I don’t want her to go through that again and I don’t want to hate me.”

Nazar (of Universe-11) named his daughter after his sister who died billions of years ago.

“You remember what she went through because of the Nameless One. don’t you?”

In the original timeline, the Nameless One gathered the offsprings of Nazars from across the multiverse, aged them up, and then used them to fight against Nazar.

To bring out their true power, the Nameless One had to cause them a lot of emotional and physical pain.

After she returned home, she feared her father because he resembled the Nameless One.

So, Nazar (of Universe-11) will do anything to stop his daughter from remembering that.

“Of course, I do. I remember how horrible she had it after that.”

Nazar clenched his fist.

“Don’t worry, I will get rid of this mess as soon as possible. I don’t care what I have to do, I will get rid of it.”

Nazar looked at his counterpart with a very serious look on his face.

Nazar (of Universe-11) let out a sigh of relief.

“Thanks.”

“It’s my mess after all,” Nazar said in a tone which was full of regret and sorrow.

“Ah, speaking of… Although I averted the wave from hitting my universe, I was not impervious to its effects. I remembered many timelines and I have to ask… Why did you not stop it?”

Nazar looked down as he remembered the times he tried to fight against it.

He saw the wave was coming, so he held his hand towards it and tried to stop it. It worked for a split second, but someone appeared from behind him, attacking him.

He was unconscious, so he couldn’t fight against it.

He tried again in another timeline and the same thing happened.

“I am sure with your powers, you could have stopped the destruction of the timeline. With ease too, if I say so.”

“...”

Nazar did not say anything.

He just looked down and thought.

After a short while, the only thing he could say was, “Sorry.”

“Hm?”

“You must have been worried… What if your Emma didn’t come into existence… What if you never met your wife… So, many things could have gone wrong for you. It all happened because I couldn’t stop it. So, I--”

Nazar (of Universe-11) scoffed.

“Don’t worry about that. What’s done is done now.”

Patting Nazar on the back, he continued.

“So, try to make sure it doesn’t happen again, okay?”

Nazar nodded.

“I can see that you are beating yourself up for it, so I won’t try to add more to it… So, good luck.”

Nazar (of Universe-11) was about to teleport out, but Nazar asked him a question.

"Any other reason you came here?"

"The Nameless One…"

He glanced at Nazar to check his expression, but seeing the confused look on his face, he sighed.

"Ah, nevermind."

"What about him?" Nazar asked in a serious tone.

"We will talk about it some other time."

And just like that, he vanished into thin air, leaving Nazar alone on Mars.

"Tch," Nazar clicked his tongue.

He then waved his hand and some of the unconscious mercenaries were teleported to another galaxy.

Nazar landed on the planet slowly.

He walked on the surface of the red planet with his arms raised up slightly.

"So easy…"

With every taking step, the world beneath him changed.

On this waterless planet, water appeared. Oceans appeared, causing floods. Rains appeared, causing the world to become wet.

Vegetations slowly started to grow. Flowers, trees, grass and more.

Walking between the freshly created beautiful flowers in dozens of colours, he smiled to himself.

Chirping noise covered the new garden of greens.

From birds to reptiles. From fish to mammals. And many more.

For a split second, he thought, maybe I should add little green men here.

But he brushed aside that thought.

He walked through this new green planet, enjoying its beauty.

"Ah!"

He realised something, causing him to become very excited.

"I will need to add fantasy animals here. Like DRAGONS!"

His love for dragons is unquantifiable.

Dragons are his favourite fantastical creatures.

But one day…

He will come to hate them.

The day when he finally meets the one he has been looking for.

Universe-11:

Nazar (of Universe-11) appeared on an empty and beautiful green planet in the Leviathan Galaxy, near the edge of the universe.

“Ah, that was rather pointless...”

He let out a sigh as he walked towards a small house.

In front of the house was a beautiful blue ocean and not far behind it was a large forest.

“Hm, I wonder if Emma is back from school yet.”

On this planet, only he and his family live. There is no else living in it.

A long time ago, bored out of everything in life, this Nazar let the Riat Empire take him as a prisoner. There, he met the princess of the empire - Asuna d’Or - who was wrongfully accused and treated by her people.

In prison, they found each other. With a new purpose in life, they broke through the barriers of the prison and flew far away.

Being scared of other people, his wife could not live near other people, so Nazar found this planet. Here, they can live their lonely yet happy life.

“Emma did say she will be late today, didn’t she?”

Emma is their daughter.

“I hated school so much,” he muttered to himself as he remembered his time at school billions of years ago. “I wish she likes it more than me.”

He slowly walked into the house and opened the door.

Even on the inside, it was not a very big house. The place was rather cramped.

“I am home,” he said out loud, even though there was no one nearby.

In the small hallway, to the right was a kitchen, to the left was the living room and at the end of the hallway was a staircase that led to the first floor, which had 3 bedrooms in it.

He went to the kitchen.

Slashing his hand, a dark portal opened. From it, he picked up a paper bag then placed it on the table.

Around it, there was faint orange energy, which kept whatever it was inside it warm.

Leaving the kitchen, he went upstairs.

“Are you here-- Oh, she is in the shower.”

He entered the room and lay down on the bed.

"So, he doesn't know, huh?" He spoke slowly to himself. "He doesn't know the Nameless One is dead."

The Nameless One is dead. He died saving the universe he always wanted to destroy.

And Nazar doesn't know that yet.

(His body absorbs information from every place, so he shuns away most of it. I am not surprised...) He thought to himself with complex feelings. (But the least he can do is not ignore something like this.)

“Oh well...”

He raised his arm up.

In his palm, an energy ball appeared.

(5 more years, huh?)

The golden energy ball in his palm was artificial energy that gives him his powers.

You see, every Nazar - excluding Prime - cannot activate their power without the assistance of their Emily, since she is their power source.

If she were to die, they would lose their power, and perhaps even die.

This Nazar noticed the odd energy within Emily and created a replica of it, so when his Emily died alongside their Earth, he still retained his power.

This artificial energy is not unlimited, so he has to recreate this energy so he can use his powers.

However, a problem has occurred.

(This is becoming ineffective.)

That artificial energy has been losing its effectiveness for a few centuries now. He tried to recreate it, but it has been ineffective.

His end is imminent.

(What should I do?)

He continued to stare at it with conflicted feelings.

He has lived for billions of years, experienced everything he could, so he was more than ready to let this long life end.

(Asuna… Emma…)

In billions of years, this is the first time he had a family he cares deeply about so he doesn’t want that to end.

He has come to appreciate this life more.

(I need to tell them soon.)

Nazar has tried to tell them for a long time, but the words won’t seem to come out when the time is right.

(It would have been 100 years now if I hadn't stopped that psychic wave.)

After this energy ball vanishes, so will his powers. And that means…

(So, I will die in the next 5 years, huh?)

He bit his lip.

(Maybe I should have...)

One of the reasons he went to Universe Prime is because he wanted to ask for Nazar’s help but even then, he could not bring himself to ask for Nazar’s help with all that going on.

The energy in his palm vanished once he let out a sigh.

“Well, I will worry about that when the time comes.”

After a little while, he widened his eyes when someone entered the room.

“Oh, hi, honey,” said a female voice, that was both strong-willed and fearful.

He saw an azure coloured woman with dark blue hair who was as tall as him. Her light sparkling blue eyes had horizontal cyan coloured energy lines which glow in the dark.

She had one towel around her body and with another, she was wiping her hair dry.

“Where did you go?”

“Oh, sorry. I forgot to tell you since something came up urgently.”

“I see.”

Although she is not scared right now, her voice always carries fearfulness in it.

“I was worried that Iket would repeat what he did here in Universe Prime.”

She seemed a little worried for a moment.

“Nothing happened, fortunately.”

“Oh, that’s good.”

She sat next to him on the bed.

“I have been meaning to ask you something… Have you gotten weaker by any chance?”

His body tensed up.

“N-no. Why do you think so?”

“Hm,” she looked at the wall opposite her as she thought. “You look a few years older than you did a few days ago.”

His eyes widened.

(... I do? I always look like I am in my thirties… But… Hm, this is odd. I haven’t noticed a physical change myself.)

“It’s hard to explain, but I can tell that you look a few years older. From the way you look and your voice.”

“I see… But it’s nothing.”

She looked at him with anxious eyes.

“Promise me you won’t leave us behind.”

“I--”

“I don’t think we can live without you.”

He swallowed his saliva.

“Of course not!” he said seriously. “Don’t worry, I am not dying.”

She was not sure how to feel about that.

“I promise you, I won’t go anywhere.”

(I need to find another way… I don’t want this to end!) He thought to himself.

“...Thanks,” she looked down as she smiled a relieved smile.

“Ah.”

He sensed a rift being opened in the space-time continuum, causing him to let out a sigh of relief.

“Emma is here.”

He got off the bed and went downstairs.

Going downstairs, he saw a short girl with light tiffany blue skin, white hair and dark blue eyes.

She is Emma, Nazar and Asuna’s only daughter.

“How was school?” he asked in a somewhat worried yet excited tone. He always asks her the same question.

“Ugh,” she groaned, “going to school on another planet is annoying.”

“Hm,” he felt somewhat pained.

He doesn’t want to isolate Emma in a world like this, but at the same time, he doesn’t want his wife to live the rest of her life in fear.

Emma doesn’t mind living in this empty place, in fact, she loves it, but at the same time, she complains like this usually.

“Sorry, I will think about it.”

“Good.”

He bit his lip in anger as he thought.

He was put in a place where he had to choose between the comfort of one.

“Just… Just… I...”

Seeing him struggling to make out words, a thin grin appeared on Emma’s face.

“Got you!”

Dumbfounded, he said, “...Huh?”

With a smug smile, she jumped up and hugged her father.

“How was that?”

He stared at her with a confused look on his face.

“My friend Xiansky said to do it.”

“Oh...”

He was still not sure how to feel about this whole situation.

(Damn it. For many years, I didn’t take this matter too seriously and yet… I need to do something about this too.)

He cursed himself for not realising it before Emma mentioned it.

“What’s for dinner?”

Seeing her usual cheerful smile, he let out a small sigh of relief.

“I went to Universe Prime and bought some Earth food.”

“Prime?”

Her glittering eyes opened wide as a wide and excited smile appeared on her small face.

“Did you meet Uncle Prime?”

“Unfortunately, yes,” he said with a gloomy expression.

“I want to see him!!”

“...S-soon,” he said nervously. “Maybe.”

He doesn’t hate Nazar (of Universe Prime), but he doesn’t want him to be a bad influence on Emma.

“Anyway, I brought some of your favourite food. Let’s go and eat them.”

“YAY!!”

She jumped down from his arms and ran into the kitchen while screaming excitedly.

His lips curled up into a proud smile.

“Well, I guess she is smart enough to not pick up his bad habits.”

He let out a sigh and entered the kitchen.

(In the meantime, I will look for a way to have my power returned to me.)

However, quite a bit of time passed and he did not find an answer.

Answers don’t usually knock on your door at night time.

But this world is not normal.

Many days after his visit to the Universe Prime, at night, he was helping Emma with her homework when someone knocked on the door.

All of their faces were plastered with alarming expressions.

“Who could it be…?” he said slowly.

Nazar placed a shield around his family and cautiously walked out of the living room.

He used every power he had to find out who it was, but for some reasons he couldn’t, which caused him to worry even more.

He might be losing power, but he is far from a weak man.

Nazar thought about teleporting away with his family, but if someone could get past behind those barriers, then they must be powerful.

If they could track him behind this impregnable shield, then they can find him anywhere.

Running away could very well make this worse.

Furthermore, his daughter has enough power to topple universes after universes, so if the time comes, he could temporarily tap into her power.

He hated the idea of relying on her young daughter, but there was no other choice.

(Either be always on the run and pay a greater price or face the enemy right now… Such a tight spot I have found myself in.)

Gulping, he slowly opened the door.

“Sup, Eleven.”

His body jerked once he saw the flaring red eyes in the dark place.

“I need your help.”

“You are… That’s impossible,” a fearful and confused voice came out of his mouth.

“Ah, but it is me.”

The other man tilted his upper body to the right and looked at the person standing behind Nazar.

Seeing Emma, he smiled and waved at her.

However, Emma noticed the emotionless existence of this person before her and hid behind her mother.

“Please don’t fear me, I will not hurt you in any way. I am only here to ask you for your help.”

Nazar prepared coordinates for their escape. If he dies, at least he can get the others to another place.

(Universe Prime… He will save them.)

“I will help you with your problem in return.”

Ignoring that, Nazar asked a question.

“Help with what?” he said in a very stiff tone.

He moved his head back.

“You have a lot of thirst for knowledge, like me. So...”

A thin emotionless smile appeared on his face.

“Come, help me build a weapon that will pierce the heavens itself.”

“...”

Before Nazar could ask a question, the other person answered him.

“No, not the one on the fifth level. I am talking about another place… A place too high up. Above the twelfth level. I am talking about the World.”

“The world?” his eyes widened.

“Yes, the World. There is a lot you don’t know. So, I will return the favour with knowledge.”

“I… I can’t--”

“As I mentioned earlier, I will also solve any problem you have.”

He then proceeded to speak in a very low voice.

"Like the problem you have with your power."

Nazar was not sure what to do.

Helping this man will not end well for anyone.

So, what should he do?

He glanced back at his wife and daughter then back at the man in front of him.

“Oh, but you don't have to leave them, we can work together here. I just need a little help from you. A tiny bit," he held his index finger and thumb close together, without touching each other. "I can do the rest."

He licked his dry lips and swallowed his saliva to wet his dry throat.

“Doesn’t it sound fascinating? To build a weapon of such high calibre.”

He spread his arms wide in an excited manner.

No, there were no emotions.

He pretended to be excited.

“I can only finish this with your help. Help me build a weapon that can pierce the heavens itself.”

"...Why?"

"To kill God, of course."
