Chapter 125

Arc 14 - Absolute Wish - Part 9

Bradley Isle:

Lucifer, the first angel, was facing off against a muscular human soldier who was being controlled by an unidentified entity.

Lucifer disconnected the feathers from his wings and shot it at Alek like a barrage of bullets shot from a machine gun.

Alek simply raised his hand and stopped the barrage of feathers, removing them from existence.

“『Don’t, Lucifer.』”

“I should tell that to you, no?”

Alek’s clenched right fist was holding onto reality like it was a piece of plastic.

The scale of their battle which began less than a second ago left Eddie in shock and unable to speak.

He is strong and powerful but compared to these two, he doesn’t even seem like an ant.

“『I am not attempting to kill him, Lucifer.』”

“Perhaps not, but you ought to leave this place immediately. Let’s go to my dimension and speak.”

“『Why should I speak to you?』”

Lucifer bit his tongue to stop his anger from flowing out.

Why shouldn’t you speak to me, huh? He narrowed his eyes as he thought angrily. Did you not mess with my life enough? Changed me as you wished? Showed me the bleak reality of our life? And to make matters worse, you sent me on a wild goose chance, trying to find answers. That’s not all. Why the hell did you attack heaven? Why did you try to kill the Angels?

He wanted to say that but instead kept it to himself.

Angrily, he said, “I will not let you harm anyone in any way. Sure, you are powerful, more powerful than I can think of, but I will see it so this human remains unharmed.”

Alek, or the person controlling him, thought to himself; Why is Lucifer so hell-bent on saving this human? Why is he so angry?

He is weak compared to him, so what can he wish to achieve in this battle?

With a mere thought, he could strip Lucifer off his powers and status.

“『With a mere thought, I can destroy everything you hold dear, so why are you still trying to stand against me?』”

“I know that, but HIS fury is something that is not desired by anyone, including you.”

Lucifer held his index finger at him sternly.

“And I have a gauge of your plan. It took me a long time and help from someone I wish who hadn’t helped me… But I finally know. So, that’s why I will try to stop you. I will put my life on the line.”

Alek looked down and let out a heavy sigh.

“『You are correct.』”

From beneath Alek, energy spurted and shot upwards towards the sky.

“『I wish him nothing but ill will.』”

Lucifer did not bother asking why. He already knows. The answer is simple.

“『My gamble is failing.』”

“Before creation, there was you.”

The entity in control of Alek was directly sending information into Lucifer’s mind.

“No, there was more, but you destroyed it.”

“『That is correct...』” the man spread his arms wide.

Reality started to crack around them in all places.

The energy shooting at the sky destroyed everything in its path, whether it was air, moon, planet, or thoughts. Anything the energy touched for millions of miles was reduced to nothingness.

“Destruction...” Lucifer spoke slowly.

“『I am the original God of Destruction. The first.』”

Eddie was not sure what was happening, but he felt like passing out from the overlord of energy and the information.

“I understand all of that, but one thing does not make sense to me, why did you not--”

“『We are done here, Lucifer.』”

Alek flicked his index finger, sending a stream of energy at Lucifer, trying to throw him away.

However, Lucifer waved his hand and the energy vanished.

“『Oh.』”

Alek puffed his right cheek and then breathed out aggressively.

“『Fine by me.』”

The reality behind Lucifer twirled.

Before Lucifer could look back, the centre of the twirled reality turned pitch black, pulling Lucifer into it.

“Ngh,” Lucifer grunted as his very existence was pulled into it.

It was not his body that was being pulled in but it was his existence.

Every person is made of three different aspects; body, soul, and existence. The soul is a shell which contains their existence and the body is a shell in which the soul resides in.

When a person dies, their physical body becomes useless and decays over a period of time. Their soul leaves and goes to hell and then later, heaven.

But what happens to their existence?

After they serve their time in hell and heaven, their soul too, starts to vanish, leaving only their existence which is turned into energy which feeds the creation.

If someone manages to create a soul around their existence, they have a chance of reincarnation. However, with their old memories lost.

So, right now, the man was ignoring Lucifer’s body and soul and was trying to remove his existence from these weak shells.

No!

But Lucifer is not just anybody.

He is the first angel.

I will not die!

What would you do if you had infinite power? After some time, life would become boring.

What would you do if you had the chance to finally be free of it? You would take it.

Lucifer felt like that for a long time.

All he needs to do is stop fighting. All he needs to do is close his eyes and let the man kill him.

It would be so easy to stop fighting back...

However!

He must not die. He must survive for the sake of the Ultraverse.

There is no other choice for him.

He is the universe, and the universe is he. Until entropy comes, Lucifer must cease to exist.

“Tch,” he clicked his tongue as he tried to forget about the pain.

I need to survive no matter what happens.

“『Fighting is futile, Lucifer.』”

“No, it isn’t.”

Alek opened his eyes.

“『What are you…? Ah!』”

The twirled reality was fixing itself.

He is trying to force out my existence of the multiverse and send it to the great darkness, and if that were to happen, I can imagine the horrors the universe will face, so what I need to do is...

With his chest welling up in excitement, a thin smile spread across his face as he narrowed his eyes.

“「Create.」”

“『You are creating space in the midst of nowhere to keep your existence from wandering off while at the same time fixing the hole I created in the Ultraverse from the outside… How did you know?』”

How did I know that we are inside a pocket universe? How did I know there was a hole in the universe? How did I fix it from the outside? What does he take me for?! Aren’t you and Nazar responsible for increasing my powers without my permission?

Lucifer kept his cool and continued to stare at the man.

“Have you forgotten who I am?”

Alek shook his head and answered his question, but Lucifer continued to speak and give him an answer.

“I am this universe. I am the stars that stretches across the dark space. I am the sun that burns hotter than anything. I am the light that shines their blackest night. I am the darkness that blackens their brightest day. I am the wind that hits their face on a hot day. I am the water that quenches their thirst. I am the food that sates their hunger. I am the blood that runs through their bodies. I am the bed that they sleep on. Do you understand?”

Eddie gulped as a cold chill ran through his body.

“I am everyone,” Lucifer spread his arms wide. “I am everything.”

Eddie’s shoulders dropped as he looked down.

“The difference between us...” he chuckled bitterly before biting his lip to stop talking.

He had heard of Lucifer before but Nazar was vague about him, so he was surprised to finally get a glimpse of his power.

Eddie closed his eyes and wished he had not seen this scene.

He breathed out in a relaxed manner as he let his body fall to the ground.

It's better to pretend I wasn't here today. He thought to himself.

Lying on the ground and staring at the sky made from uncommon colours of pink and green, caused Eddie’s mouth to form a confused yet astonished smile.

Lucifer and Alek ignored Eddie and continued their conversation.

“So whatever happens here, I would know about it. And I can fix any damage caused to it.”

Lucifer waved his hand and restored the reality of this pocket universe.

“My offer to you is; come to my dimension and will speak there. Let’s leave his friend alone before it gets worse.”

“『...』”

Alek looked around with a blank look plastered on his face.

“『No.』”

Lucifer breathed in, puffed his cheeks in order to stop his anger from flowing out.

Seeing Lucifer breathing out a mouthful, Alek did not wait around to wonder what Lucifer would do next, so instead, he created a large sword of energy above the planet and shot it down right at Eddie.

“『Ha… HAHA!』”

Alek’s laugh sent a shockwave through the pocket universe - which was just a portion of the island but at the same time, greater than a galaxy - causing great destruction to the environment.

“『What is the difference between you and I, Lucifer?』”

Before the confused Lucifer could answer, Alek continued to speak.

“『You are not so different from us. You use others like that--』”

“I have heard it before. I thought about it. I was disgusted at myself for a moment, but now... I don’t care.”

“『Uh.』”

“Unlike all of you, I have a duty to billions of worlds. I need to keep them safe. And you know what? I do not care if I need to cross the lines I shouldn’t cross. I have decided that I would rather become the villain in EVERYONE’S BOOKS THAN LET SOMEONE LIKE YOU, OR NAZAR, OR HER TO DESTROY IT!”

Lucifer took a deep breath.

“I will destroy thousands of universes if it means I will save everything else. I am not a hero, far from it. But I have a duty to everyone. I don’t want this multiverse to die. And I won't let you kill one of my creations while I can do something about it.”

Alek pouted his lips in a disappointed manner.

It seems he wanted to tell Lucifer; “Oh, the life of a tragic hero”, but Lucifer mentioned that he is not a hero.

Leaving that aside, the Dragon wanted to set something straight. Lucifer did not have all the facts.

“『I am doing this for the greater--』”

“MY actions are justified, yours are NOT! You, all of you, are just powerful beings who look down on everyone else.”

The excitement from Lucifer’s face and heart had vanished completely.

“So, don’t you dare compare me to the likes of you,” he said out angrily with his chest welled up.

“『...』”

Alek nodded with his pooched lips.

“『Alright, but you are making one mistake, Lucifer… I am not like the rest. I am not evil-- or good for that matter. I just am.』”

Lucifer clicked his tongue.

“『So, I advise you once more, leave and let me complete my objectives.』”

He wondered for a brief moment if it was all worth it. He can remove Nazar's memories using a certain angel or Emily since he trusts them a lot. Just a human will die.

Lucifer glanced at Eddie.

Eddie had his eyes closed with a blissful look on her face.

I created them. Lucifer thought as he narrowed his eyes. They are my creation. My subjects. Will I be any different from my father if I let them be?

He shook his head.

He made his mind.

Using others to achieve his goals is one thing, but he will not sink so low that he will leave his own creation to suffer. The least he can do is keep them safe.

Turning his head forward and looking Alek in the eyes, he said, “I will not let you, the 「Creators」, have your way with me or this creation anymore.”

“『Oh?』”

Alek plastered a comedic look on his face.

“『Oh? Oh? Oh?』”

Lucifer found that greatly irritating but he did not show it on his face.

“『And what can a mere angel do? You can't even touch me. You can't save the human because I will--』”

Ignoring him, Lucifer raised his hand above his head and held his palm upwards towards the sky.

The energy sword which was going to be stabbed into Eddie in just a few moments suddenly stopped.

CRACK!

Like a glass shattering, the sword vanished.

“Run away right now if you wish to live...”

From Lucifer's body, a burst of white energy flowed out.

“「Dragon」!”

The mysterious being known as Ikeiss, the Eternal was standing before Lucifer. He has been looking for him for a long time for his own reasons and wanted answers but perhaps it’s finally time for him to get them.

No.

Lucifer shook his head.

He won’t ask for answers anymore.

He just wants to get rid of him, even if it means using someone else.

“Because God himself is coming."

“『Oh?』”

"The Supreme God of everything is coming for you.”

❢◥ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◆ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◤❢

A few minutes before powerful individuals entered the universe and on the other side of the Bradley Isle, which has not been sucked into a pocket dimension, Nazar landed in front of a bungalow.

So, this is where he is.

The space around him moved past him like flickering light and he found himself inside the room with the human he hates the most.

“Well, well, well,” Nazar spoke with a thin smile on his face as he sat down on a sofa near the large desk in this office. “So, what have you cooked up this time, Ishaya?”

Ishaya Bradley, the blonde man with green eyes, was not surprised to see Nazar here.

In fact, he was expecting him.

“Took you long enough.”

“No, you took long enough.”

Ishaya knew what he was talking about, but even then, he wanted to pretend like he did not and asked Nazar a question.

“What do you mean?”

“I planted something inside your head years ago to keep you paranoid about me. I left some signs, for example, changing my power levels in the middle of the exam - which I knew you would pick up on because of the sensors.”

Ishaya formed an angry smile. He had thought wrong. He thought Nazar was talking about the Godslayers.

“And it took you… What, three years to figure this whole thing out?”

Ishaya sighed, keeping his irritation away.

“I don’t have all the time in the world to focus on a nobody.”

“Even before finding out about my powers, you had the perfect idea of who I was, no? Billions of dollars come to my account from around the world each year and over 50% of it is from you. So, of course, you knew.”

“50%...” Ishaya spoke slowly while leaning back in his chair.

He stared at the ceiling as he thought.

He can’t play the role of a dumb person anymore.

“The man who invented nanotechnology, when every other attempt at it had failed miserably. You changed the landscape of the world, especially the world of technology.”

“And among other things.”

“Of course,” Ishaya agreed with his nodding head.

Nazar let out a sigh.

“Took you too long to catch onto my clues. I was looking for entertainment but you failed to give me that.”

Ishyaya’s cheek twitched in anger.

“Disappointing.”

Nazar breathed out from the right corner of his mouth.

“Can I kill you?”

“No,” Ishaya replied without hesitation. “I need to print my name in history.”

“Ah...”

Nazar realised something.

Ishaya doesn’t want money, he never did. He had it all. But what he does want is to be an important figure in the world.

But he also remembered something else.

“Did you not want my power in the original timeline?”

Ishaya stood up from his comfortable chair and walked around his desk.

“I did. But then I realised something...”

He paused for a moment to sit down opposite Nazar.

A thin smile spread on his face.

“I don’t want a life as miserable as yours. Power feels a lot like misery. I don’t want to live forever or destroy the world.”

Ishaya spread his arms wide on the cushion of the dark sofa.

“Power is misery, don’t you think?”

Nazar widened his eyes.

“How do you know?” his thin smile vanished and a serious look appeared on his face.

“Let’s just say,” Ishaya averted his gaze and looked at his desk, “I met someone.”

Nazar did not have to ask who.

He could feel an odd energy traces on him.

“You...”

Nazar narrowed his eyes and clenched his fist.

In an instant, his fist was about to clash with Ishaya’s face and kill him.

A human would die if that fist clashed with their head.

It would take less than a second for Nazar to kill this human before him.

He can age him up or give him cancer. If he dies from that, no one in the universe will notice anything.

But at that moment, images of dead humans flashed through his mind, causing his eyes to widen in horror.

He has killed many people before, but seeing an entire planet killed in the worst ways possible just to get to him, made him feel uncomfortable.

Their screams still wake him up when Laura is not around.

He also remembered a promise he made with his sister. He promised her he won’t kill anyone and that he won’t die either.

Her words flashed through his mind over and over again.

Try not to kill anyone. Pretty please? For me?

...Sure.

It would be so easy to just kill him but Nazar doesn’t want to break that promise he made his sister.

So, he unclenched his fist and sat back down before Ishaya could even notice what happened.

“Met her, right?” Nazar, back on the sofa, asked in a serious tone.

Ishaya nodded.

“Why?”

“I… don’t know.”

He looked Nazar in the eyes. Nazar could not tell if he was lying or telling the truth. If anything, the latter seemed more accurate.

She might have removed his memories, but it’s worth a shot.

“What did she promise you in return?”

To his surprise, Ishaya gave him an honest answer.

“She promised me infinite energy to use in my ventures.”

“Infinite energy...” Nazar leaned forward on the sofa. “Why do you need that?”

“Weapons,” Ishaya replied immediately in a casual tone. “And my master plan.”

“Master plan?” Nazar squinted his right eye in a confused manner.

“You see, I want to be a greater name than the likes of Newton, Einstein, Jesus, Mohammad, Budha, Gandhi, and others. I want history to know my name more than theirs.”

Nazar leaned back into the sofa and chuckled.

“And you think killing people will help you achieve your goal?”

“No, that’s in the background. Ask anyone in the world and they look up to me like a--”

“God?”

Ishaya saw the seriousness in Nazar’s eyes. He was not sure why he had such a look.

Seeing anger slowly appear on his face, he shook his head.

“Of course, not. I meant more like, uh… a hero. A saviour.”

“Is… that so?” his anger vanished and a relaxed expression appeared on his face.

“Yes.”

Nazar forced the muscles in his face not to form a smile.

Oh, this is looking better than I expected!

His chest welled up in excitement.

Oh, this is fantastic!

He has not felt like this in a long time.

The excitement of battle is one thing, but this, it feels different to him.

For once in a long time, he feels like everything is coming together. It can work to his advantage.

The threads are sprouting in every direction. All he needs to do is grasp it. Grasp the right one and everything goes the way he wants it.

As for how much this will help against her… It’s low, but that’s not my objective. No, no, no.

“Hey, Ishaya...” Nazar spoke in a low and cold voice, almost like a devil.

The corners of his mouth curled up and formed a thin smile.

His red eyes flared brighter than the sun.

He wanted to laugh to his heart’s content. This was the moment he will achieve the high ground over his problem.

He had grasped the right thread, it seems.

“Do you want to make a deal?”

“A deal with the devil, huh?” Ishaya crossed his legs.

Nazar shrugged.

Ishaya smirked bitterly in return.

“Spit it out.”

Nazar took a deep breath.

လလလ

A short period of time passed.

“Why would you do that?”

Ishaya shook his head and changed his question.

“No, why would YOU go that far?”

“It’s my sister’s wish.”

Nazar smiled thinly.

“And as a brother whose power is 「Absolute Wish」, I need to do everything in my power to make her wishes a reality.”

“Hmm.”

Ishaya nodded, unconvinced.

“Believe it or not, this is the truth.”

"I believe you, hero."

Nazar leaned forward.

“I am not a hero. I am not a villain. I am above all of such concepts. I am… a...”

He stopped talking.

His eyes went wide.

What was I about say…?

He lowered his head.

He looked down with horror in his eyes.

His body started to shake violently.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS I GOING TO SAY JUST NOW?!?!

The rage and horror he felt was like no other.

Aarin cursed him with the negative emotions of the multiverse not too long ago. The rage and horror he is feeling right now far surpass that.

He just wants to shoot himself in the head over and over again. But even that won’t sate his rage.

He wants to activate an 「Infinite Death」 barrier around him. It will kill him, then resurrect him. Then kill him again. Then resurrect him again. Every time, it uses a different method of death, more painful than the previous. A cycle which continues for eternity.

Even that won't be enough.

Because of a few praises and acceptance and that's how I am starting to think?!?!

DISGUSTING!

With a look of puzzlement, Ishaya stared at Nazar.

He wondered, what is going on?

But he did not care enough so he started to stare at something which was floating before him.

“Magnificient.”

{Nazar.}

Suddenly, Nazar heard the voice of Lucifer inside his head.

{...What is it, Lucife--}

He saw something inside his mind.

“...Eddie…?”

With his eyes opened wide in horror, he stood up.

The blood around him… The broken limbs… Oi, oi...

Lucifer had sent him an image of nearly dead Eddie who was lying in a red pool of blood with his limbs severed.

Nazar gulped.

“What happ--”

{It’s the [Dragon]. He has come to kill Eddie. And he is nearly succeeding. So, come save your friend.}

The Dragon...

The man Nazar has been looking for over the years for his own reasons.

THE DRAGON?!

The man who knows too much.

The man whom everyone is clueless about.

The man with an interesting power and status.

The man who effortlessly saved the Nameless One from Nazar a long time ago.

WHAT DOES HE WANT WITH EDDIE?!

Without wasting a second, he blasted through the ceiling and went away.

Ishaya did not pay him any heed, instead, he continued to smile an accomplished smile.
