Arc 14 - Absolute Wish - Part 13

If you were asked a simple question such as; 'What's one plus one?' in a mathematics exam, then without a doubt, your answer would be "two". And the answer of the person next to you will be no different.

But if you were sitting in an English exam, the question asked would be something like this; 'What kind of emotions is the author trying to convey in this passage?" What will your answer be? What will the answer of your classmate next to you be?

Mathematics almost always gives you a fixed value. No matter what equation you take, the answer is fixed.

However, that's different for the English language exam. Everyone at the exam hall read the same text, however, the answer couldn't be more different.

Unlike mathematics, the route you can take is not one, but dozens. Even hundreds.

You can take one thing from the passage and someone else will take something different. The number of answers becomes many.

Furthermore, which question is simpler to answer? Which question is easier to study for?

Powers in this universe are very similar.

Most people use mathematics in order to make efficient use of their power. They calculate the environment around them, the opponent before them, calculate the amount of energy needed to defeat the opponent, then unleashes it.

When using mathematics, they can also choose the direction of the energy and can manipulate it to move around later on with rather ease.

It's simple. It makes their powers simpler and easier to use. And in most cases, they can use it more efficiently.

However, if they relied on their mind alone, the power wouldn't be as contained or precise.

It's like a question in an English exam. There is no fixed output.

Instead of unleashing a blast of water, one can accidentally release a stream of water and drown the whole world.

The reliant on mathematics in power is necessary for control and efficiency.

Is it possible to use powers without relying on mathematics? Certainly.

However!

You will be stuck with a situation like this.

Right now, Nazar, the almighty God of all creation, unleashed his trump card: 「Absolute Wish」 but he has no control over it since it's above the mathematical concepts. Which is why a new multiverse of the same size appeared next to this one.

To make matters worse, the high output of energy which he had no control over destroyed an Ultraverse. The Ultraverse with three infinite multiverses vanished out of existence in an instant. Trillions of worlds and universes vanished without a fight.

There was no warning. It just happened.

With every beating heart, I am destroying different parts of creation I did not know existed.

I have been called many things throughout my life. 「God of Destruction」,「God of Creation」, 「the Supreme God」, 「Great Destroyer」 and many other silly titles given to me by people below me in the celestial hierarchy.

I don't like it, but this is what it is. This is my life.

Right now, I destroyed an Ultraverse I did not know existed. But how do I know that I destroyed this?

This pitiful existence of mine works in mysterious ways. I absorb information about the right stuff I need, at the right time.

Sigh. What a pitiful existence…

Whether I believe it or not, I hate this life of mine. I don't want to exist. I don't want to continue existing.

I am the most powerful being in creation. I am the human Nazar who achieved the state known as 「Omnipotence」. And like a spoiled brat, I destroyed everything.

Ahhh, the excuses I have come up with.

Someone manipulated me or someone forced me or it was an accident. But deep down, I know why I did that.

I hated everything.

My uncontrollable emotions lashed out at this existence, destroying everyone and everything, including those I loved.

To make myself feel better, I brought it back. For what reason? Was there something which I longed for greatly? But what was it? Love? Family? Food? Comics?

What was it?!

I cannot even look at my sister in her eyes and say I deserve her love or her kindness. Same with Laura.

Does someone like me deserve to live?

Eddie would say "Of course, dumbass. Everyone deserves to live." And of course, he would be smiling like an idiot.

On his emotionless face, a small distant smile spread.

I really do hate heroes.

...Unless they are fictional...

Now that I think about it, this bitch calls me a “hero” too. I am not one, though.

If I was, I would have saved the millions of people Michael just annihilated. I should have saved them but the thing is… I don’t care about the humans that live in this shitty world. I only save this world because my sister cares about them.

I am not a hero. I don’t want to be. I never wanted to be one.

But I am not a God either. I heard the prayers of the millions of souls that just died - Michael made sure I heard them - but what did I do?

I ignored them.

Humans… I was one at one point… Or perhaps that world I see glimpses of just a fantasy in the back of my head?

Now… I am not a human or God. So, where does this leave me? What am I?

I am in a complicated state of existence because of this blasted ability; 『Absolute Wish』. The most powerful ability in creation.

I have used this ability three times so far.

The first when I reached that pitiful state of existence.

The second when I removed most of Arosus’ power, trying to free him ten years ago -- or hundreds.

And the third… It’s now. I activated this ability to learn about my enemy and I did…. And I did…

Nazar closed his eyes slowly to change his thoughts.

She wants my power.

I should give it to her, right? That’s something I always wanted, to give away this power and be free of it...

However!

I… I… I don’t want her to have it.

I am not a hero. I don’t want to do this because I want to save creation.

No, there is another reason. A reason I cannot explain even if I wished for it in this state.

Or perhaps… I don’t want to know the answer to my uneasy feelings.

“Love...”

But I know one thing… I do not want this woman to get a hold of this ability no matter what.

“Isn’t this feeling great?”

The queen had jumped up and swung down a fist at Nazar’s face, but Nazar merely raised his left forearm, blocking her attack.

“Tell me...”

The Queen laughed gleefully as she licked her lips with her snake-like pink tongue.

He could not see that, but he could tell her expressions.

“Doesn’t it feel amazing to let loose?”

Does it?

NO, IT DOESN’T!

Or... It does?

I can't even tell anymore.

She jumped back, increasing the distance between them.

A beam of energy shot out of her chest, coming at Nazar.

Although he could dodge it, he tried not to because it could harm the surroundings. If the beam touches any bits of this world, it will be reduced to nothingness.

Nazar could nullify it, but he tried to do something different with it.

“A taste of your own medicine.”

Nazar thrust his fist forward, punching the coming beam and shooting it back at the Queen.

The distance between Nazar and her was very short, but that did not matter to her. She could see the beam coming back at her.

So!

“Hmph,” she snorted.

A circular hole appeared in the space before her. The purple energy beam went into the dark hole, seemingly having vanished.

“!!”

No, she wanted to transport it to the other side of the world, but instead, it was sent elsewhere.

She did not have to wonder what had happened.

In annoyance, she groaned.

Thrusting her right hand forward, a giant beam of green energy was shot at Nazar.

He could not predict where she had shot it from. Or so she had thought.

Time acceleration, huh? I should-- No, don’t use nullify and erase at any cost. NO MATTER WHAT!

In this state, if he accidentally wishes for something wrong, the damage could be irreversible.

For example, if he erases her beam, there is a 90% chance, time itself will be erased completely.

His control over this ability of his is almost non-existent.

I should avoid using the word erase, die, and nullify or else I could accidentally destroy everything again.

This is the price of using the mightiest ability in creation. A simple mistake can cost the universe everything.

So, he needs to rely on something else.

「Roll the Dice」.

The dice have been rolled.

There are six sides to the dice. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

2, 4, and 6 means that the beam will hit Nazar or the world. The rate of success is 100%. 3 and 5 mean that it has a 50% chance of success. 1 means it won’t hit him or the world.

So, the probability of Nazar succeeding is just slightly over 16 percent. Usually, that is.

Once the dice is rolled, no one can control its outcome.

It's easy to manipulate the probability of something this easy.

The beam which was about to hit Nazar avoided him and the world and flew upwards towards the dark sky until it came into contact with a small empty planet, destroying it.

The planet aged millions of years as it withered out of existence.

“!!”

“!!”

Both Nazar and the Queen looked up to the sky with wide eyes.

Lucifer, too, forced his head to look up.

“That’s...”

The Queen finished Nazar’s sentence.

“The rules of this Ultraverse are being changed. It seems we cannot cause any harm to other planets....” she let out as an exasperated sigh as she shrugged, “What a pain.”

The new rules of this Ultraverse will prevent any collateral damage to innocent planets.

For example, if the Earth is about to be destroyed in a battle, the planet will be swapped before the imminent danger. It will be swapped with an empty version of Earth from across the multiverse.

Once the danger has been passed, the planet will return to its original place.

Hypothetically speaking, if an empty version of Earth does not exist, then a new universe will come into creation. In this new universe, the planet Earth will be empty, and thus it will be swapped to save the world of humans currently in danger.

Surprised to find out about the new rules made to him, Lucifer grunted as he stood up.

Suddenly, he was not feeling any pain and had gotten used to this new multiverse appeared within him. He had been "healed".

“It’s… him,” Lucifer spoke in anger. “The Supreme One.”

He thought he had his usual cool and calm tone, but Nazar could hear the anger in his voice.

While everyone's attention was on the Supreme One, Nazar thought, I have to do this now.

Nazar sucked in a breath.

I don’t know what will happen, but I want to see. I want to know.

SNAP!

Outside of the conventional multiverse, Emily, who was floating next to an old man called Chronos, the Lord of Time, took in a deep breath.

The man floating next to her looked her in the eyes and asked, “Are you sure?”

Emily tried not to show the complicated feelings she was feeling on her face, but Chronos could see it.

“Yes, show me the Deus Ex Machina.”

Damn you, Nazar! She gritted her teeth. Why would you hand me this responsibility?

To be precise, she was not talking about Nazar who was on Earth, battling the Queen. No, it seems she was talking about a different personality of his.

And how the hell…

Many years ago, another personality of Nazar’s - Nazar #2 as he calls him these days - become dominant and took control. He was around for a very short time but he left a big mark in this world.

Shortly after his appearance, he created the weapon known as 「Deus Ex Machina」. The purpose and abilities of the weapon are not known to anyone except that Nazar and perhaps Emily.

Ahh, damn it! New information is being added to my mind without my control. I REALLY FUCKING HATE YOU FOR THAT, YOU SILLY GOOSE!

She scoffed at her own terrible and weak insult.

15 years ago, you created this weapon and hid it within Chronos. Since Nazar lives on this Plane and angels come down… You thought the planet would be moved up through the phases, didn’t you? How the hell did you plan for all of this? It crossed no one’s mind.

The angels and the Gods who came to the Lower Planes of Existence did not pay much attention to these small details.

However, that Nazar did and prepared for it.

But why did Emily remember it now?

To set up information transfer because of the values the world possess… Ah, I get it now. But really, this was reckless.

Indeed it was reckless. The probability that the information will travel to Emily was very low, so it seems he took a gamble.

She plunged her slender hand into Chronos’ chest.

Wait, did he know that I possessed my powers? Did he know what I am?

Yes, he did. Unlike this Nazar who tries his best to ignore everything, the other one actively looked to learn everything, especially about his environment so he could plan better for it.

Nazar cannot remember the things his other personalities do because he designed his body in that way. He did not want to know what his other personalities knew. Which is why he did not know about Emily in this timeline.

Is that why I am the only one besides him who can activate it? Interesting… What if I hadn’t come to your rescue? Bitch.

She let out a heavy sigh.

“Here it goes...”

As Chronos’ chest lit up with white energy, Emily touched the weapon within him and pulled it out.

“...”

With her eyebrows twitching in anger, she smiled angrily.

“Are you shitting me, you BASTARD?!”

Chronos was confused, but he did not question her.

Emily, on the other hand, stared at the device which looked like a ladybug shaped facial hair removing machine. It also had two antennas at the top.

AT LEAST GIVE IT A GOOD FUCKING DESIGN! OR MAKE IT MENACING!

She was so furious, she wanted to smash the device in her hand. But she might need it to, she restrained herself.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHITTY DESIGN?!?!?!

Breathing out heavily, she calmed herself.

But just then, she stiffened her slender body as she gasped for breath.

“What--”

She was looking at Earth from a different point. She could see it going up and down through the phases like a yoyo.

But since she heard a snap and a burst of white energy originating from Earth, she was not sure how to react.

In her hand, she was holding a weapon of great power, which could save the world. Or so the information in her head says.

Emily looked down at it and then at Chronos.

“I am so sorry, but hold on to this for a few seconds,” she spoke in her most sweet, sincere and desperate tone. “I will be back shortly. In just a second. I promise!”

She did not expect her sweet-talking to work on Chronos, but he knew better than to object her.

Emily is not evil by any means, but Chronos can’t help but feel cautious around her. After all, a small mistake could cost him his life.

“I will do as you say,” he nodded with his eyes.

This old man is sooooooooooo sweet! She squealed in her heart.

“Thank you.”

And just like that, Emily went away.

『Absolute Wish:...』

SNAP!

Nazar had snapped his index finger and thumb together.

Emily landed next to Lucifer with worried looks on her face.

“Wai...”

Emily tried to reach out her hand but it was too late.

VSSHH!

Like a VHS tape rewinding, white horizontal bars appeared around them.

『Rewind』.

"Huh?" Emily swallowed her saliva in fear.

She was expecting the worst.

Could it be Nazar accidentally destroyed this world too?

With complicated feelings, she looked at Nazar who was staring upwards with white glowing eyes.

She did not notice the white bars around them had covered everything.

Lucifer and the Queen of Virrasil looked around and noticed that the world vanished from their sight as the white bars moved faster and faster.

In a state of confusion, looked at Nazar who looked very calm. Nazar was looking upwards for some reasons.

Emily looked at Lucifer and noticed that he was as confused.

So, he looked at the Queen of Virrasil, but Emily could not tell what she was feeling.

What is happening, she wondered.

The world had vanished, nothing remained but white horizontal bars moving past them while they heard a VSSHH sound.

They could see glimpses of darkness outside but they were not sure what it was.

Emily sucked in a breath and relaxed. She did not want to think about the worst.

“What the hell is happening, NAZAR?”

To the angry friend of his, Nazar slowly looked down and faced her.

“Emily? I didn’t expect any of you to be here.”

“I was worried one of you would damage time again. I can’t have that.”

“Ah...”

Nazar glanced at the Queen of Virrasil.

He was too busy to notice the passengers around him.

“So, where are we?” Emily asked exasperatedly.

Without his control, Nazar’s mouth spread, forming a smile. A thin accomplished smile.

“Welcome to the beginning of...”

The white bars around them slowly faded.

All around them, there was nothing but darkness.

“Creation,” Nazar spread his arms wide.

“!!”

“!!”

“!!”

“The birth of Null.”

Around them, the darkness slightly twitched.

However, no one was paying attention to that.

“That’s… impossible,” the Queen of Virrasil spoke slowly. “That’s not possible. How…? Ah!”

Although they could not see her face, they could tell she was surprised.

“Time doesn’t exist outside of each Ultraverse. It’s impossible to reverse time or even travel through time. It’s impossible. Unless… If my research is correct, only he can do that through--”

She realised something, so she shut her mouth with her hand. She was about to reveal something to Nazar, which she did not want.

Nervously, she started to think.

Unless he is accessing it through the World… Since he stands above it, that means he is using the special connection he has without knowing and that’s how we reached the beginning of creation.

She did not have a lot of confidence in her thoughts. She was not sure if the answer was correct.

Or is it...

She gulped.

We did not travel through time it seems... We are not looking at it through a mirror. But what exactly...

She was not scared.

No, she seemed excited.

“It’s…” she muttered under her breath.

With a thin smug smile, he looked at the queen.

Looking down on her, he spoke, “You are correct.”

In the darkness around them, a face was formed.

Null - the "first" living being - came into creation.

“This is the power I hold.”

Power that defies science, magic and logic.

Power that is only possessed by one person in creation.

Absolute Wish, the mightiest ability in creation.

“Power this, power that.”

Emily wondered why he doesn’t just kill her.

Lucifer, on the other hand, was conflicted. He doesn’t want Nazar to kill him because he knows she is working with someone else. If she dies, they might not be able to track the other person down.

“All of you brag about how powerful you are but this… This is what true power looks like.”

She laughed excitedly.

“I want that power!” she exclaimed her goal. “I WILL BE THE SUPREME GOD OF EVERYTHING!”

Nazar rolled his eyes.

“Anyway, why are you guys here? I did not notice you earlier. I was… Nevermind.”

Nazar clapped his hands together as he breathed out heavily.

“Right, that’s not what I am here for...”

Snapping his fingers together again, the white horizontal bars started to move around them at a rapid speed.

“What I am here for...”

He uttered a few words which were not heard by anyone but Emily.

They tried to understand but they couldn't.

She squinted her eyes, questioning him, “Are you serious? No… I mean… Ahhh, damn it! It’s…”

Emily rubbed her forehead as she tried to analyse everything she just heard.

“Pfffffffff,” she breathed out a long breath, “does anyone else know?”

Nazar shook his head.

“I see… Are you feeling alright?”

To her caring question, Nazar smiled bitterly.

“I… I am fine, don’t worry. Thanks.”

The others tried to understand what Nazar and Emily said, but they could not.

The darkness around them vanished completely and they started to move.

Before anyone could ask any questions, the white bars slowly started to vanish again.

This time, darkness is not what they saw.

“!!”

The Queen of Virrasil widened her eyes.

“Virrasil...” she spoke slowly.

“Yes, I want to see what you are,” Nazar looked at the nearly destroyed world of the Gods. “I want to know who you are.”

Emily narrowed her eyes, understanding what Nazar was trying to do, “I see.”

Nazar was looking at a small princess and old wise king.

“『I will achieve ascension,』” the old wise king spoke sternly, “『I will reach 「the World」 and become 「Omnipotence」.』”

The Queen of Virrasil recalled having two conversations with her father before he ascended.

One was on the day of his ascension where he told her that he is leaving her behind as well as this wretched world to her.

But this, this was the conversation she had with him the day before.

This was the day she came to hate her father.

“『But worry not my dear daughter, I am taking you with me. I won’t leave this wretched world to you.』”

The Queen of Virrasil bit her lip under the mask.

“Why...”

For a while, she wondered why her father lied to her. Was there a technical reason? Or was it because he was scared that she would surpass him?

“Is that you?”

“!!”

The Queen threw away her thoughts and focused on the problem before her.

Nazar already knows of her identity and he came here to confirm it but she does not know that.

So, she wants to protect her identity too.

“Now that I understand your power...” With a thin smile, she shouted. “Copy:...”

White bars appeared around them once more.

Nazar’s body stiffened. He had not wished for the world to move.

Before he could turn around, he heard three words.

“Absolute Wish.”

The white bars moved faster and faster, moving away from the world.

Nazar was not sure what happened but she had the same ability as him.

Yes, that’s right, she replicated the mightiest ability in the creation and made it her own.

“Nazar!” Emily called out to him. “That...”

Hearing the fear in her voice, a small thin white vertical light appeared between Nazar and Emily, shrinking the distance between them.

Nazar stood next to Emily and held her hand.

“My barrier will protect you.”

“But...”

She is powerful. She can protect herself.

Between the moving bars, she saw a glimpse of a world she knows very well. Remembering what had happened in that world, fear overwhelmed her.

Ignoring her, Lucifer took in a deep breath.

With the halo above his head spinning out of control, he clenched his body.

The Queen was too busy to notice it but once Lucifer unclenched his body, he released a burst of white energy, creating a massive white explosion.

The explosion knocked all of them back in their rightful place, however with slight changes.

Lucifer stood face-to-face with the Queen of Virrasil.

The confused duo did not attack one another.

However, Nazar was nowhere to be seen and neither was Emily.

Their energies couldn't be sensed anywhere in the multiverse.
