Chapter 131

Arc 14 - Absolute Wish - Part 14

Nazar’s other personality - Nazar #2 - became the dominant personality for a short while and had complete control over this body and power.

“To put it shortly, Chronos,” floating in front of the Lord of Time, Nazar smiled a thin emotionless smile, “I trust you more than Arael. He is… goofy and doesn’t take his responsibility as seriously.”

“Is that… so?”

The two emotionless Gods saw the seriousness in each other’s eyes.

“Earth is important to my… other self. It must survive for the sake of his family. So, please hold on to this.”

Nazar handed him the powerful device he calls 「Deus Ex Machina」and Chronos took it without hesitation.

“It’s a device that will be used to pluck Earth out of the multiverse. Once you pluck it out, you can restore the original value of the world. Then just pluck it back in, everything should go back to normal afterwards.”

“In case of the planet moving up through the phases and reaching a new Plane of Existence, I presume?”

Nazar nodded.

“Hm, yes, you are correct.”

Chronos’s chest lit up with white energy.

Placing the weapon within himself, his body jolted.

“Are you hurt?”

Chronos shook his head.

“No, the strange feeling is gone.”

“Indeed. It merges with your existence.”

Chronos wanted to say something, but Nazar did not give him a chance.

“Do not worry, Lord of Time, I need you to keep the weapon safe, so it will not harm you in any way.”

Chronos’ question was answered.

If he had emotions, he would have reacted harshly.

To be used as a tool, it is something many hates, including Nazar himself.

“Only Emily, my dearest friend can use this device besides I. So, be not afraid, for it cannot be used by anyone else.”

Nazar simply vanished into thin air.

Now, in present, Chronos stared at the device as he recalled his meeting with Nazar many years ago.

“Is that all this weapon can do?”

Chronos had his doubts. It would not make sense to hide a weapon of this calibre.

Certainly, it’s a powerful weapon, but is that all it can do?

What if…

“What if the true purpose of this weapon is something else?”

Something far more sinister?

But he is dead now, so perhaps Chronos will never get his answer.

❢◥ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◆ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◤❢

On Earth, the God of War - Orion - has only 30 seconds to save this planet.

Michael has called down the Heavenly Lights - powerful beams created from the residual energies of the Angels in Heaven - at the many religion-heavy cities on Earth.

To someone like Orion, thirty seconds might as well be a whole year.

He can save this world.

Or so he thought.

Orion raised his hand and created a shield to protect the world. However, it was broken through.

“Damn it!”

Biting his lips, he tried to redirect the beams. But that too was a waste.

“Haha, did you really think that would work, meathead?”

Michael who appeared next to him spoke with a cheeky smile.

“You have twenty seconds-- Ah, it seems Nazar vanished from this planet. Wonder where he went. Perhaps that pervert is having sex with her again?”

Orion paid him no heed. He tried his best to get rid of the energy beams which were coming down at different parts of the world.

“Either way, what do you think of my newly designed Heavenly Lights? Are they cool? Strong? Hmm, hmm, what do you think?”

Orion ignored Michael and tapped into his aspect: War.

Brimming with power, Orion punched one of the energy beams, sending it to a nearby planet.

“Redirect one, two more shall take its place.”

Michael tied his hands behind his head and floated in a sleeping position while he hummed.

“It’s nice, no?”

Orion is the God of Power. He isn’t just powerful but also smart.

What’s the best way to solve this problem?

If the barrier failed and so did redirection, then what is left?

Michael’s control over Heaven is greater, so Orion has no chance of forcing the beams to stop.

Then what other option does he have left?

“!!”

Seeing Orion widen his eyes, Michael pouted his lips in disappointment.

“Sigh. I will let you have it this time. Next time, I won’t let you get off this easily.”

Orion, again, ignored him.

“Leave this world, Michael.”

Orion is a being from a Higher Dimensional Plane of Existence. His very existence changes the world around him.

Right now, the world is going up and down through the phases.

So, instead of stopping the heavenly lights, all he needs to do is push the world into a new phase.

“This method should fail too… But let’s just leave it here. I am bored. Next week we will try again.”

Michael sounded disappointed.

“Ooooh, I have to leave now. I want to meet a beauty in this world.”

Michael vanished into thin air, leaving Orion alone.

To move the world through phases, all Orion had to do was change the values of the world by releasing more power.

And so he did.

He released more and more power, changing the value of the world, thus pushing it up.

He pushed the world up in time to save the world.

A small smile appeared on Orion's face.

"The best way to beat Michael is to bore him. He loses all interest and gives up himself."

But…

White bars appeared everywhere throughout the creation.

The VHS tape rewound.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What just happened?"

Michael who was floating above the dead Arabian Peninsula scratched his head in annoyance.

He sent Orion away to have him save this world in thirty seconds.

But something happened after that.

However, he could not tell what it was.

Confusion danced on his face as he tried to make sense of it.

Ah, he used the same method again.

While he was thinking, Orion saved the world again.

Again?!?

What again? What had happened earlier? Did something happen?

The feeling of deja vu was new to Michael so he was not sure how to react to it.

Humans feel like this often… But what does it mean to me?

Something feels like it happened, but it also didn’t.

So… What happened?

It was as if the world went rewound but that was not the case. Time was not manipulated in any way, so what had happened?

Michael looked around for Nazar but he could not be seen anywhere.

Was he somehow responsible for this…?

But then he shook his head, dismissing his silly thoughts.

“He is an idiot, he cannot pull something like this…”

However, his voice did not carry a lot of confidence.

❢◥ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◆ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ◤❢

In another place, away from everything, Emily and Nazar stood in a white place.

The white bars around them slowly started to flicker.

“This is...”

“Yes, the second timeline.”

Unlike Emily, Nazar seemed calmer.

“I see...”

The timeline flashed before them was a terrible place which brought nothing but pain to Nazar and Emily.

It started just like the first world, a decent world but then it suddenly grew very dark when the demon slowly took control of the world. Nazar was taken under his control.*

The powerless Emily could not do anything but watch as the world was destroyed by her friends.

In the end, Emily too was killed by him.

She did not see as the white light came and destroyed time again.

Although the events of this timeline were a long time ago, the wounds are still fresh within her heart. She remembers every timeline and the pain that came with it.

Nazar tightened his grip on her hand and said, “I am sorry.”

Emily looked at him with red eyes.

“For what?”

“For… everything,” he forced out those words with a lot of regret. “For not being able to save you from your death. For not being able to save you from the Nameless One. Or the Queen. Or the demon. Or... myself.”

Emily was not sure how to feel, so she just bit her lip and looked down.

“I couldn’t stop them from using you like a tool. A tool which they used against me. But why? Simply because you existed? Simply because you had power and history with me? Does that give them the right to use you as a tool?”

Throughout their many lives, Emily has always gotten the short end of the stick. Constantly hurt, killed, betrayed, and more.

“I couldn’t save you from any of them. I couldn’t save you from a life like this… A life that was forced onto you without your control. I should have saved you. I had the power and influence yet… Yet...”

His voice broke off.

“I am sorry. I should have at least treated you better. I should have done that at least, right? Considering how much you helped me through the years and how much you cared… I took advantage of your kindness over and over again without taking a second to think about how you felt.”

Nazar swallowed his saliva to wet his dry throat.

“I shouldn’t be treating you like this. Trying to kill you when we first met a few weeks ago or asking you to kill your old friend… I shouldn’t have done that. I should have done something else. I should have...”

With his left hand, he rubbed his chin.

Emily looked up at him and noticed the redness in his eyes, which caused her to widen her eyes.

It was not his usual red eyes, but his eyes were red because of sadness and trying to keep his tears back.

Emily looked down at her hand then Nazar.

It seems he was feeling all the pain and suffering she had felt and was feeling at the moment.

“Is that so?”

Nazar nodded.

“Hopefully… Hopefully one day you can forgive me, Emily.”

She raised her head abruptly and looked at Nazar’s face beside her.

Throughout the many timelines, Nazar has apologised to her a few times but it never felt like this.

For once, it felt genuine to her.

“I hope you can forgive me for killing you that time in the second timeline. I hope you can forgive me for killing your family in front of you. I hope you can forgive me for letting the Nameless One use you like that. I hope you can forgive me for...”

Nazar took a small pause as he looked down.

"I messed with your emotions. I forced you to have feelings for someone you didn't even want. And when you died, I could… I could go back in time and save but I didn’t. I--"

"I get it," she took a deep breath before continuing. "I get it, so just shut up."

She looked at him in the eyes and noticed a tear dropping.

Nazar bit his lip and shut himself up.

“You really don’t need to...”

Emily trailed off as she let go of Nazar’s hand and took a few steps back. She didn’t want to be in his view.

She was not sure what to say, so she just covered her mouth with her hand.

Nazar took a deep breath and continued.

Today, he wants to say everything he should have told her a long time ago.

“Thank you,” Nazar recalled something his sister told him, so he thanked her from the bottom of his heart. “Thank you for being there for me when no one was there. Thank you for trying to help me when you did not need to. Especially in the first timeline.”

“Sitting in an empty hallway and reading comics. I wanted to help...” she shook her head with a bitter smile. “I wanted to ‘help’ you become a little more sociable and… Well, show a little emotions.”

Nazar chuckled sadly as he remembered how he did not have emotions back then, so Emily’s efforts were useless from the start.

“But who knew that it would end up being a failure…”

“And ruin your life,” he added as he glanced at her with the corner of his eyes.

She did not reply and just stared at the moving images of dead timelines.

“I know this sounds terrible considering all the things you went through because of me but...”

He looked at her with a wide smile.

“Thank you for everything. I mean it.”

Behind Nazar, the world blew up to pieces, creating a bright orange light. The illuminating light from the explosion behind Nazar created a light, which made him shine with that wide smile.

Emily’s heart skipped a beat as she gulped.

Emily was not sure how to react, so she turned around and looked in the opposite direction and stared at another world dying for a few minutes.

Nazar did not want to interrupt her, so he kept quiet.

“L-leaving that side,” Emily spoke in a flustered manner. Her voice was very low and trying to bury her emotions down. Despite that, he could hear a little happiness in her sound.

Nazar had never seen her talk like this before, so he was surprised.

She slowly raised his hands and slapped her cheeks to get control of her happy (?) emotions.

“What is your real reason for not restoring time? You can do it but every time we tried, your mental barriers caused the plan to fail.”

With a stern look on her face, she faced Nazar.

“So, why?”

“Recreating time is not easy as you make it sound,” said Nazar seriously. “I will have to create an endpoint for the multiverse, I will have to decide how it ends, I will have to create an infinite number of universes and timelines for it and… I will also have to design the multiverse in a way that a new world comes into creation with the smallest decision made. Preparing for every possibility without damaging the conventional multiverse or even High Planes of Existence is… It’s very hard.”

Emily shook her head, rejecting his answer.

“I asked for the REAL reason.”

Nazar sat down, crossing his legs on the ground which did not exist until a moment.

He bit his tongue as he tried to think.

He gave her a reason, but both of them know that he was not being

“I simply don’t want to.”

She was expecting an answer like this, so she did not react harshly but merely rolled her eyes.

“In a way, it makes me feel weak. Small. That’s why I did not recreate it until now. BUT...”

Nazar’s serious loud voice startled Emily a little.

“I won’t let them mess with time again,” he narrowed his eyes. “I will save this world no matter what. I will defeat them and save us.”

"Why not just--"

Nazar raised his index finger, stopping her.

"I want to make sure this is the LAST TIME these people harm us. This time, I will end it!"

“...”

“And then I will definitely recreate time.”

Emily sucked in a breath in surprise. She was never expecting Nazar to agree with her. She was never expecting him to even think about restoring time.

“You don’t have to shoulder this alone anymore. I promise you this, Emily.”

Letting out a sigh of relief, Emily sat opposite Nazar.

She wanted to cross her legs but her dress was very tight, so that was not possible. Instead, she sat on her knees.

Since Nazar reassured her, Emily wanted to share some information regarding their enemy.

“From my understanding, their final attack should be around August. They always ended timelines around August so…”

“Hm, yes. I will not lose this time.”

The constant reassurance from Nazar was nothing new to Emily. He had promised her many things. But this time, he spoke in great confidence.

Now that was settled, she also wanted to tell him something important, but it then shook her head, dismissing her thoughts.

Now’s not the time, especially with him using his main power. It will be catastrophic. Emily let out a small sigh. Anyway...

Looking Nazar in the eyes, she said, “Once you kill her and save us, let me know.”

Nazar nodded, acknowledging what she told him.

“I will do that.”

“Haaa,” she breathed out a heavy breath again as she smiled an honest and relaxed smile.

For the first time in a long time, she truly seemed happy.

“We should have had this talk earlier, idiot,” she laughed.

“I agree,” compared to her, Nazar was serious. “I should have done this a long time ago.”

“You should have, but what's done is done. Let's do better in the future."

Nazar smiled, agreeing with her.

"Yeah."

"Speaking of sorries… I am sorry about what happened with that bitch."

He chuckled at the odd nickname they have given her instead of calling her the Queen.

"Don't worry about it. But thanks."

"As I said earlier, if you ever want to speak, you know where to find me."

Although she was serious about listening to him, Nazar took it as a joke.

Even then, he nodded to thank her.

"I appreciate--"

Before he could finish sending his gratitude at her, she extended her arms forward and hugged him tightly, causing the dumbfounded Nazar to trail off.

"I mean it this time. Really."

He moved his stiff hands slightly, wanting to hug her back but he restrained himself.

He was still feeling conflicted about this whole situation.

Was it the right thing to get close to her again? Will this end in catastrophe for her again?

He was confused.

"It's not because I want to help you… But because this is what friends are for."

"Friends… huh?"

Their relationship had many downs and too toxic but both of them wanted it to be better. Both of them wanted it to flourish into a good relationship.

However, they always gave up at the last moment.

An old friendship which died with blood cannot be rekindled.

"Yeah, let's start over. This time under our control. This time, it will be our choice."

"Is that...so?"

He relaxed his stiff body.

"But why the hug?" he asked jokingly.

"Why?"

She stopped hugging him and looked him in the eyes.

Emily tilted her head to the right in a confused manner and asked, "Why not?"

She answered his question with another question, so he wasn't sure what she meant.

Nazar became even more confused, so he furrowed his brows.

"Because every human needs a hug once in a while."

"Human…"

With his right hand covering half of his face, he laughed.

It was not a burst of sinister laughter, but genuine laughter if happiness.

"Thank you, Emily."

Those words confused her even more.

Unlike her, he remembered well.

Ever since they met in this new timeline, she treated him like how everyone else treats him: as a God.

He hated that but did not try to force her to change her view of him.

"For what?"

But now it seems she saw him the same way as she did many years ago in a dead world: a human and a friend.

That made him very happy.

"Thank you," he thanked her again.

Due to these happy feelings, far away from here, in the distant darkness, a 「Megaverse」 with ten different Ultraverses came into creation.

This new light shone the brightest in the infinite darkness.

“Seriously, what is wrong with you,” she scoffed.

After a short while, Nazar stopped laughing and stood up.

Emily was still confused as to why he was laughing, but she did not question him.

Since he had stopped laughing like crazy, she sighed and asked him an important question, “What did you?”

"Hm?"

"What just happened now?"

“I restarted 「Creation」.”

Emily's body stiffened.

Her worst fears had come true, perhaps?

“You destroyed--- Y-you...” the frantic Emily could not form her sentence properly.

Nazar shook his head and spoke calmly.

“I simply restarted it.”

“H--”

Emily swallowed her saliva to wet her dry throat.

“How?”

Pulling out a phone from his pocket, he crouched next to Emily and showed her the phone.

“Watch.”

He pressed the power button for a few seconds. Three options popped up; ‘Power Off’, ‘Restart’ and ‘Lock’.

Nazar hit the ‘Restart’ option.

“See, it ‘turned off’ then it started to turn on. Then I put us at the beginning of the ‘logging in’ process. While it was ‘booting up’ that bitch… She used her version of Absolute Wish and sped it up.”

While Nazar explained it in simple details, Emily was even more confused.

“Lucifer’s explosion caused her power to malfunction and send us-- them back into the right place.”

“I see,” she nodded, but still did not understand anything. “And these timelines we are seeing… What’s the deal with that?”

“While it was ‘booting up’, I copied all of those timelines and placed them in a quasi-multiverse I made next to our own.”

“So, there are three multiverses right now?”

Nazar shook his head as he stood up.

“Two. This… It doesn’t exist but in a way, it does at the same time too.”

Emily let out an exasperated sigh as she started to stand up.

“And here I thought I knew more than you,” she muttered to herself under her breath.

Him knowing more than she does did not sit well with her but she let it slide this once because she knew why that was the case.

Standing up, she wiped her dress clean.

“I really hate how your body absorbs any kind of information,” she pouted angrily. “I hate it.”

“Me too,” he looked down in a depressing manner.

Emily scoffed as she shook her head.

Putting aside all of her doubts and negative feelings, she smiled a bright smile.

“Alright, let’s leave this place. I don’t want to see anymore… Ah, you got what you came here for?”

Nazar nodded.

“Yes, I confirmed her identity.”

“Great!”

Nazar clicked his tongue and white horizontal bars covered them once more.

“The new quasi-multiverse has been destroyed and now we return to our own place...”

Emily let out another sigh of relief.

Time was more than fine and it seems Nazar has the upper hand now. So, everything is good.

“Earth.”

The white horizontal bars around them vanished, revealing an all familiar place.

They returned to Earth in Universe-Prime, standing between Lucifer and the Queen of Virrasil.

“Your power sure is convenient,” Emily teased as she floated from the ground.

“I don’t know about that...”

Emily winked at him and said, “I will be back soon.”

And just like that, she flew away, leaving him with the Queen of Virrasil and Lucifer.

“What just happened?” she asked angrily.

“Oh? I thought you had copied my ability, should you not already...”

Angrily, the Queen stabbed her foot into the ground, nearly breaking apart the planet.

It should have been broken into nothingness, but Lucifer managed to keep it safe.

“I wish for you to die.”

She wished.

Nazar immediately clattered his teeth in pain.

It was as if his body would burst out and explode into pieces.

I can… If my body dies, I can make a new one from scratch… But!

He narrowed his eyes.

I won’t die! I won’t break my promise to Emma.

“I will NOT die,” he spoke through the pain.

As he snapped his fingers together, the pain vanished.

The Queen clicked her tongue in annoyance. She really hated him and his ability.

“I wish for this world to die.”

“And I wish for this world to continue living and flourish.”

Two wishes.

Two opposing wishes.

“Gah!” the students and teachers who were still on this island raised their hands in shock as they saw an explosion of bright white light.

The two wishes were contradicting one another, so the energy extended from the two Gods clashed with one another, causing a great explosion.

Lucifer created a shield around the explosion, trying to keep the surrounding safe.

So, I am reduced to damage control, Lucifer thought.

The mighty Lucifer who used to stand at the top of the celestial hierarchy did not amount to much these days.

However, he did not hate this state of his. The weight on his shoulders seems to have lessened slightly.

“Perhaps I should have nullified her wish instead of opposing it...” Nazar muttered under his breath.

လလလ

As the explosion withered out, Lucifer did not lower his guard. He wanted to make sure the next explosion is nullified as well.

"Your lover…"

NO!

Nazar knew what she was going to wish for.

For a split second, his heart skipped a beat as ugly emotions overtook him.

And in a faraway place, another light extinguished.

NOOOOO!

“I wish for her...”

The Queen wanted to make a different wish. A deadlier wish.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If someone close to Nazar would die, his emotions will spiral out of control and the damage to the creation will be greater than ever.

After all, that is why he reached that state in the first place.

“To di--”

However.

Before she could state her wish, she screamed in pain.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?!”

Lucifer smiled an interested smile.

However, Nazar widened his eyes in horror as he took control of his ugly emotions.

“!!”

“Ahhhh-- How dare you…”

Behind the Queen of Virrasil, stood Norse God - Eddie.

“HUMAN?!”

လလလ

The Queen glanced at her shoulder and saw the tip of a sword.

In her right shoulder, a golden glowing sword had been stabbed from the back.

Eddie stabbed the Queen with the sword which hurt Nazar earlier.

“I dare!”

He slowly pulled the sword out of her.

With every centimetre that left her, the pain increased.

She wanted to scream in agony, but at the same time, she wanted to show off her strong side.

“Ghuh!”

She painfully raised her left hand to touch her right shoulder. She wanted to stop the pain by putting pressure on it.

Or perhaps using a healing touch.

“You damn--”

But!

She could not react in time.

Eddie thrust the sword in his hand forward once more, stabbing her in the heart from the back.

"Aaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!"

Explosive dark purple energy started to leak out of her body as she cried out in pain.

“Yes, this damned human dares!” he spoke angrily.
