Arc 14 - Absolute Wish - Part 15

A normal boring life, that’s what Edward ‘Eddie’ Hunt lived.

Wake up in the morning, go to school, play with friends in the park, come back home and study for a few hours, then go to sleep. Repeat. And repeat.

He had no talents or skills either, so he ended up relying on the people around him a lot.

However, not once did he think he was beneath them. He was happy that people helped him and never tried to change that.

That was his life for 16 years.

It all changed one night when he went on a camping trip with his class near the sea.

Young Edward saw a classmate being bullied at night, so he tried to stop the bullies.

He does not have the power to do so, but he wanted to try anyway.

But the price he paid was great.

“Ugh ahhh...”

The young Edward lied on the sand in pain.

He had been stabbed with a knife in the leg by a classmate.

The boys had run away once they realised the crime they had committed, leaving Edward behind.

Everyone was sleeping in their tents, so none of his classmates heard his painful groans.

But one person did.

His 「Guardian Angel」.

To the hurt Eddie, as his vision was flickering, a young man of similar age appeared out of thin air.

Although it was dark at night, he could see the person who appeared before him.

The tall guy with glowing red eyes spoke, “Do you want power, Edward Hunt?”

“...”

Edward chuckled.

He must be seeing things, he wondered.

“Huh?”

“Edward Hunt, do you want the power to protect people?”

He laughed.

Anyone would have taken his offer as a joke.

Even those red glowing eyes were not very convincing to Edward.

However, he had nothing to lose. And what could go wrong, even if he doesn't get power?

It's not like this man will take him to a lab and experiment on him... Right?

“Yeowwwww, fuck! This hurts. But yes, yes, yes. If you-- Sure. What could go wrong?”

The man extended his right hand.

A white ball of energy appeared in it.

“Alright.”

The white ball of energy floated away from the man and landed on Edward’s chest.

“Ahhh?”

With an electrifying sensation, his body slowly started to float.

The wound on his leg was healed instantly.

KRAKABOOM!

The skies roared in shining white light.

“You were...”

Edward breathed out as he smiled.

“You weren’t kidding...” he spoke slowly in disbelieve but the man heard him.

“Of course.”

Standing up slowly, he asked, “Who are you?”

“Nazar.”

“Hi, I am Edwa-- You already knew that. So, call me Eddie.”

That was the day he got his powers and became the hero known as Norse God.

When he became a hero, he made two promises with his parents. One; I will not die. And two; I will not kill anyone.

Many years later - in present, on a small island in the middle of the sea, Eddie picked up a golden flaming sword.

With conflicting feelings, he picked up the sword with his right hand.

Just a few seconds ago, he landed on the island with Ebo Kojo, who had been thrown out to the dark space by Nazar.

He healed her and returned.

However, he saw the Queen of Virrasil ‘wish’ for Nazar’s death and it caused him great pain.

What the… What is happening? Eddie thought frantically.

Eddie had seen a lot of battles in his life but it’s rare to come across a battle where they attack using words.

Simple words causing someone like Nazar pain was very new and surprising to Eddie.

What the hell have I gotten myself into?

All around them, reality glitched.

When Nazar and the Queen’s opposing wishes caused an explosion, Eddie raised his hand to cover his eyes from the explosion.

While he was holding his hand in front of his face, his eyes trailed downwards, seeing a golden sword.

That sword… It hurt Nazar earlier, did it not?

He lowered his hand, looking at the explosion which was still very bright.

“I should...”

Cautiously, he touched the sword and picked it up slowly.

Time was not on his side, but he was not sure if he should be touching it.

And because…

What…

With wide horrified eyes, he looked at the sword.

What do I want to do with this?

Eddie gulped.

The promise he made with his parents flashed through his mind over and over again.

He will not die and he will never kill, no matter what.

So, what do I want to do with this sword?

His toes clenched.

The muscles in his leg tightened.

Why am I…?

With a [Woosh!] sound, he ran.

He ran at the withering explosion.

My best friend is… He seems to be in pain. He would do anything-- And I mean ANYTHING to help me if our roles were reversed.

He tightened his grip on the sword.

If this sword can hurt Nazar, then it must work on her too. He is the most powerful guy, after all.

Eddie sucked in a breath.

But… Is this something-- Should I-- What if my mom and dad…

The distance between them was a few meters and Eddie was moving at his fastest speed yet it felt like years to reach her.

I want to help him like he helped me through the years… I want to save him like he did… I want to--

He glanced down while running.

Was he ready to hurt someone so much they might actually die?

Can he do that?

Is it worth it to break his promise with his parents?

Is it worth going against his very own morals?

What should I do?

He was getting closer but his heart was becoming farther and farther away. He could not reach that decision.

Can I… do it?

Inhaling sharply, he narrowed his eyes.

I have no choice but to do it…

He made up his mind with heavy feelings.

My best friend is the Supreme God of everything… For someone like that to notice me, to give me power and become my friend…

The bright light from the explosion was almost gone.

No one was paying attention to Eddie.

Why would they when a more spicy prey is always standing next to him?

All this time, Nazar has always been with me. Whatever kind of villain we faced, they ignored me. I was like an ant in a room full of elephants.

For a long time, it caused Eddie great pain.

He wanted to be noticed. He wanted people to recognise him and his achievements, but everyone ignored him for Nazar.

But now, that…

However, today was a different story.

Those eyes which are peeled onto Nazar will ignore me.

With his chest swelling up in confidence, he smiled.

I will SAVE YOU!

He smiled a happy smile.

So, just you wait!!

He had made a promise.

He always wanted to protect all lives.

And to save a life, he would go to any lengths to save them. He would always find another way.

NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES!

But just this once… Just this once, he wanted to save a life no matter what.

Is it worth breaking his promise?

Is it worth betraying his morals?

Yes! Yes, it is!

Will he be able to live with himself? Perhaps it will be hard, but if he can save a friend, then he will go to any length.

I am a hero who saves everyone, including you Nazar.

And so, he appeared behind the Queen of Virrasil and stabbed her in the right shoulder.

In the Sixth Dimensional Plane of Existence, Arael and Esme were watching Earth, looking at the events very carefully.

They watched as Nazar, Lucifer and the Queen vanished from sight.

Then they returned almost immediately.

But something felt off.

However, Arael and Esme focused on someone else; Edward ‘Eddie’ Hunt - Norse God.

What was this nobody going to do?

To the surprise of Arael, he picked up the sword.

“Ohhhh, yessss!” Arael, the God of Power, squealed excitedly. “This… This is a SIGHT to behold!”

Esme breathed out in a confused manner as she folded her arms in front of her chest.

“I am not going to ask...” she sighed. “So, spit it out.”

Arael inhaled excitedly.

"In the third plane of existence, there exists a conceptual hierarchy. Vilramore stands at the top of the universal conceptual hierarchy but in the Multiversal conceptual hierarchy, Daya stands."

Daya is the embodiment of the multiverse.

"In this grand celestial hierarchy, he is like a shooting star, going up rather than falling down."

“I know that?”

"But look! This man… this human, Edward Hunt, is blasting through the conceptual hierarchy of the lower realms and reaching a higher state of existence. He is passing through the demons, angels and even Gods in the grand celestial hierarchy."

Eddie was not feeling any different. He felt no different than he did two minutes ago. But Arael was seeing something different.

Eddie's size grew and grew, but he did not know that.

He was growing bigger and bigger without his control.

In a short period of time, he was becoming bigger than the universe.

“Do you not feel it?”

She shook her head, denying it.

Arael ignored her and continued to speak in uncontrollable excitement.

"That sword is something unique. Something magnificent. I must have it!"

Although the sword is hidden from their ‘view’, they are looking at it because Arael created a ‘hole’ in the multiverse to peek at it.

"But her… Do you really want to face her again?”

Arael looked down as his excitement diminished as he remembered something unpleasant.

“You could probably pick it up if you move fast enough, you could perhaps get it but...”

She narrowed her eyes.

"I won't allow you."

“Ehhhh?” Arael’s usual carefree look returned to his face.

“Rest!”

He was baffled.

"We are talking about an event that might never take place again thanks to this sword. So, I need to take it to study it."

He wasn’t sure why she was uninterested in it.

To him, this was the most interesting sight.

"Rest or else you lose your life."

"Uh…"

Arael let out a heavy sigh.

“Fine,” he groaned. "But... But can I at least watch this?"

Esme rolled her eyes.

"Sure..."

Bradley Isle, Earth:

Eddie had stabbed the Queen in the heart and from her body, dark purple explosive energies shot out everywhere.

Lucifer brought his hands together and contained it within a bubble.

Her ability is weaker than mine, much weaker but that doesn't mean he won't get hurt… THAT IDIOT!

Nazar extended his right hand and shouted, “EDDIE!!”

Until now, he wanted to avoid letting anyone find out about their friendship. He doesn’t want the world to hate Eddie as well.

But right now, he did not care about that.

He did not want his friend to break the promise he had made with his parents.

Nazar has met Eddie’s parents many times before - although they did not know he had powers - so he knows how much they care about Eddie.

The last thing Nazar wants is that relationship to be damaged in any way because of him.

So!

I will do anything to keep that relationship safe. I will do anything so there is no discord between you two because of me... I will DO ANYTHING!

He held his hand at the Queen.

“I...”

What does he want to wish for?

“Wish...”

Reality is a blank piece of paper. Take out your pen and pencil and make something real.

So, what does he want to make real?

Absolute Wish is the mightiest ability ever. He can make anything real with it.

However, his greatest ability is something else. His mind.

No, no. Not his intelligence. But the fictional knowledge he holds.

Having read almost all forms of fiction on Earth, he has many, many ideas.

The other me - #2 - had a design for a weapon… A weapon that will break through the highest dimension and create a hole in it. It was based on a mythological weapon of a Norse God.

While the original design by his other personality meant it would break through higher dimensions, Nazar made slight alterations to it.

I don't have time to experiment and perfect it like he wanted to...

So!

He wished.

He wished this would become her destroyer.

“Odin’s...”

It doesn't exist nor did it exist in the past. It isn't real.

But this is what his power is.

Create what isn't there.

This isn’t 「Reality Warping」.

This isn’t 「Creation」.

This isn’t 「Existence Manipulation」.

Simply, this is 「Absolute Wish」.

Wish for it, and it shall be yours.

There is no God who grants wishes, but the holder of the ability himself.

"Gungnir!"

Another hole opened in reality as white energies shot down from the heavens.

White and golden energy shot out in every direction as a spear appeared in Nazar’s right hand.

A spear, crackling with energies never seen before by Lucifer.

It was new yet had an old and familiar feel to it.

His greatest knowledge and his greatest ability can make the unreal, very real.

「Lance of Longinus」 and 「Gáe Bulg」. And this sword, 「God Slayer」.

Lance of Longinus, the one that killed Jesus does not exist in this world but originates in mythology. It is said to be able to slay Gods of any calibre by removing the special place they hold and bring them down to a lower level. It can remove any special enchantment a God might have and kill them.

And Gáe Bulg, the spear from the Irish Mythology is said to be capable of killing anyone and anything.

The God Slayer - which he learned of the name just now - is a mysterious sword that can harm his very existence.

Combine that with Odin’s Gungnir, which is said to hold all 「Authority」 of the Gods, and crafted one of the most powerful weapons in creation. But in this case, it holds 「Authority」 over everything.

“I name you...”

The lines between fiction and reality are blurred as the Gungnir goes through a conceptual change.

“『Reality Breaker』.”

Nazar sucked in a breath as he prepared to attack.

“Eddie, move!” Nazar commanded his friend.

Without hesitation, Eddie jumped away, leaving the sword within her.

“Now...”

He spun the Gungnir in his hand until it fit perfectly into his right hand.

Holding the spear from the middle, he swung his arm backwards.

Thrusting his arm forward, the crackling energies coming out of the spear like electricity 「Destroyed」 reality around it. A small hole of nothingness can be seen by the naked eye in front of Nazar.

The spear flew through the air and past the explosive dark energies of the Queen.

“Your end has come!”

And so, the spear stabbed at the centre of her chest.

With a shrieking voice, she exploded from within like a hydrogen bomb.

Lucifer contained the blast or else it would have caused great damage.

Plymouth, UK:

The growling monster known as Gluttony was growling in front of their home as he walked closer to it.

Just a few more steps and the whole house will come crumbling down.

“ComE oUt pUNNy HUmaN!!!”

His growls sent tremors across the city and shook the house violently.

Inside the house, Aeron rushed to the lab.

It seems Nazar had left him with a device that would protect them, so she was trying to retrieve that.

As he was running in the back garden of the house, suddenly the monster had leapt and landed behind him, causing him to fall face down to the ground.

“Gah!”

“I WanT to eaTT yOuuUuUuU!!”

He swung his fist forward, trying to crush the human before him.

Aeron raised his hand to cover his face and shut his eyes close.

Of course, he knows it will not do anything, but he wanted to try anyway.

BOOM!

With the barrier of sound being broken, someone landed in front of Aeron and blocked the punch from the monster.

“You are safe with me,” spoke a majestic voice brimming with confidence.

The confused Aeron opened his eyes and removed his hand.

He could not believe how quickly he had been saved.

In his mind, he thought it was Nazar who saved him or even Norse God, but once he laid eyes on his saviour, he squinted his eyes in a confused manner.

“Who are…?”

“Phantom Star,” she turned her head around and smiled widely at him.

The monster did not like that, so he clicked his tongue.

He tried to swing another of his limbs to attack her head, but she bent her back backwards and avoided the attack.

“I won’t let you hurt anyone.”

With her back still bent backwards, she spun her legs forward and flipped backwards.

Using the momentum from the backflip, she kicked the monster in the jaw.

“uRk!”

The monster felt that kick, it hurt him greatly.

Phantom Star did not give him any time to recover, so she swung her fist upwards, hitting him the jaw again.

“You… Get away from here please.”

She asked Aeron in a sincere tone.

Since her attention was aimed at Aeron, the monster used that opportunity to shoot an energy beam and it scraped her thigh.

However, she did not pay any attention to the wound.

But Aeron felt terrible that she got hurt because of him.

“Monsters like who cause problems for the innocent populace without a reason...”

She narrowed her eyes in anger.

“Disgust me!”

Her blue eyes lit up with light blue energy.

A blast of blue energy shot out of her beautiful eyes, which cut off a monster’s limb. She continued to use the blast like a blade and cut off the other limbs of the monster.

This… It doesn’t make sense, she thought. Why is this monster so weak? Its energies are great but it is weak... Odd.

She shook her head and unleashed an even greater blast of energy at the monster.

She unleashed everything she had within him and the monster blew up into small pieces.

“Haa,” she let out a sigh of relief.

However, the doubts from her heart did not vanish.

“What is going on here?” Angela, who came out of the lab alongside Laura, asked loudly.

When her eyes fell on Phantom Star, she became even more confused.

“And who is she?”

“That smell...” Phantom Star turned around and looked at Laura and muttered. “It’s his smell. It is very deep… Ahhh.”

She opened her mouth as she looked around her in realisation.

“His smell is everywhere...”

Phantom Star realised that this was Nazar’s home and this was his home.

She can also feel his residual energy in this house.

And within her...

For some reason, she felt pain in her chest.

So, that is whom he had eyes on, huh?

With the 「Eye of Judgement」, she found out the basic details about Laura.

They have been together for a long time now, huh?

She felt a little saddened that Nazar never bothered to tell her that. Couldn’t he drop by and let her know years ago when he finally met with Laura again?

Well, matter not.

She did not have to force a smile for pleasantries because she narrowed her eyes as she felt strong energy behind her.

“!!!”

Looking back, she noticed a giant growling beast.

“How…?”

Its power has grown...

It was too late, but Venus noticed what had happened.

It seems the beast was pretending to be weak and ate her energies to empower himself.

Damn you!

The beast screamed at the sky, shaking the world around him.
