Arc 14 - Absolute Wish - Part 16

The Queen “died”. She exploded into nothingness.

The threat of the Queen was over...

Right...

Nazar looked down at himself.

How do I turn this off?

Absolute Wish was still on. He couldn’t turn it off.

Another reason he rarely uses this ability is because turning it off is hard. Very hard. And perhaps even painful.

Last time Arosus had to destroy his very existence to shut it off.

At that time, Nazar was happy after he “revived”, he thought that this ability was gone, but to his disappointment, it was still around.

I can’t wish for it either.

Since he has no control over it, last time he wished to turn it off, but accidentally, he turned off the whole Ultraverse for a brief moment.

He had used that ability when no one besides Arosus was around, so nobody noticed it.

But this time, Lucifer is nearby, so he will know.

And maybe, the damage will be even greater this time around, so he won’t make the same wish again.

“!!”

Nazar realised something.

There are two options with him.

One, have Emily come and use her power on him. Perhaps that will work. But he doesn't want her involved. He doesn’t want to burden her anymore.

And second…

“Oi, Lucy.”

“Don’t call me that,” Lucifer’s halo vanished and wings detached into his back.

“Stab me with that sword.”

For the first time, Lucifer’s face brimmed with excitement as he clapped his hands.

“Gladly!”

Nazar gulped.

Maybe this was a mistake...

Lucifer picked the sword which had fallen to the ground after the Queen exploded.

Tightening his grip on it, he leapt into the air and stabbed Nazar in the heart.

An explosion of white energy shot out in every way.

However!

This power… It’s still not turning off.

He closed his eyes as his promise with his sister flashed in his mind.

I don’t want to die but I guess there is no other… I must turn off this power no matter what.

He glanced at the spear - Reality Breaker - and wondered if this would render his power useless.

But there is a problem.

This spear is designed to be wielded by 「Creators」 only.

Shit. I shouldn’t have used his schematics… But how else was I supposed to make it work without those...?

The white explosive energies shot out in every direction.

There was no other choice left but to die. So, he prepared to die.

Maybe he will apologise to his sister for breaking their promise and she will forgive him, so he shut his eyes very hard.

She had asked him not to die, but perhaps it is alright to die when there is no other option?

“Wait!”

Someone called out.

A familiar voice.

But a voice he did not want to hear.

Opening his eyes, he saw two metallic grey wings shot out from the back of an angel.

The metallic grey halo above his head spun out of control.

“Michael?!” Nazar’s body stiffened.

So, did Lucifer’s as he pointed the sword at Michael.

“What--”

Michael flew past Lucifer and touched Nazar’s chest.

“I am saving him or else...”

He muttered a few more words which couldn't be heard by anyone.

“What are you doing--”

Nazar widened his eyes.

Rainbow coloured small cubes appeared all around Nazar.

With a chirping sound, the cubes stuck to Nazar's forehead, ears, heart, hands, and other body parts. Additional cubes appeared around him, forming a rainbow cube which encompassed him.

Michael jumped back and increased the distance between them.

With great interest, Michael watched the rainbow cubes.

“Michael,” Lucifer spoke angrily, “what are you doing here?”

“...”

Michael sighed as she shrugged.

“Testing my new weapon.”

“「Ultroids」?”

Michael nodded with a snarky smile but Lucifer frowned with a groan.

“It should turn him into a human for a split second...”

The grin on his face was more sinister than anything Lucifer had seen before.

“And then kill him.”

The rainbow cubes shone brightly for a split second before the cubes vanished.

With the cubes gone, Nazar fell to the ground, holding his chest while breathing heavily.

“Huff. That… What was… that?”

Why do I feel so...

He swallowed his saliva to wet his dry throat.

I have no powers?

He shook his head.

It’s not just that… but… I am… My very existence...

“I am human?”

This feeling was new to him.

He had no powers nor he held the status of the Supreme God like he usually did.

This alien feeling made his heart flutter happily.

“Oh yes, for a second you are and that means...”

Michael clenched his fist.

“I WILL KILL YOU!”

Michael shot himself at Nazar.

Lucifer, who was standing between the two of them, raised his leg and kicked Michael in the face, throwing him back.

Nobody managed to catch a glimpse of their movement, but if they had, they would have laughed instead of being intimidated by Lucifer’s action.

Michael grunted as he stood up from the ground.

“Seriously? I thought you wanted to kill him too...”

Michael let out an exasperated sigh as his shoulders dropped in a gloomy manner.

“Why did you save him?”

“I don’t want him dead. Not yet… I don’t think she is dead.” Lucifer paused for a brief moment before continuing. “You said that there is someone else...”

Lucifer trailed off as he noticed Nazar standing up from the corner of his eye.

Nazar was stretching his shoulders with an annoyed look pasted on his face.

“Who is that man, Michael?”

His powers and status were back, so he was very annoyed and angry.

And his main ability, Absolute Wish, had been turned off.

“Why are you asking me?” Michael wiped the dust from his clothes. “Did you not activate the mightiest ability just now?”

“Indeed,” Nazar nodded, “but that person… Whoever he is, is a black hole to my power.”

“If he is a black hole to you,” Michael held out his index finger at Nazar, “ then the same would be the case for me too, no?”

“Hmm.”

“Forget that,” Michael looked down at the sword. “Can I have that?”

Nazar stopped stretching and looked at the sword in Lucifer.

“...No,” Lucifer denied him.

Michael rolled his eyes.

“Alright.”

He shot his wings forward, releasing a barrage of metallic feathers at Lucifer.

Lucifer raised a hand and created a shield which protected him.

Yawning - although sarcastically - he said, “Done yet?”

“Oh good,” Michael grinned thinly as he noticed an orange barrier around the world. “Luck is on my side today.”

“!!”

Looking up, he saw the world “detach” for a brief moment and reattach.

While he was busy trying to figure out what was happening, Michael took the sword from his hand and hurled it at the empty space.

Lucifer looked at his hand and noticed the sword was gone.

“Since none of us can see the sword…"

The sword is hidden from the view of angels and gods, similarly to how Nazar is hidden since it exists in a higher place in the celestial hierarchy.

"It shall nobody’s.”

Lucifer let out a heavy sigh.

Michael turned away and started to walk.

Waving his hand, he hummed.

“See ya.”

And so, he vanished into thin air, not to be seen anywhere in the universe.

“It seems the world is fixed,” Lucifer’s eyes lit up with white energy. “And the monsters seem to be not here except for one… Ah.”

Confused, Nazar stared at him.

“There were 10 energy signatures that entered the universe but now there is only one left.”

Nazar sighed.

“Don’t worry, it’s just a Sin," Lucifer added. "They are weak.”

He relaxed his shoulders.

“Oh good.”

Nazar glanced at Eddie who had a blank look on his face.

“I will deal with that myself, Lucifer. Thanks for your help.”

“Forget that, we need to talk later. Find me soon.”

Nazar nodded, “Sure. We are long overdue--”

Lucifer raised his palm, stopping him.

“No, I meant personal matters. Not business, personal.”

His angry tone confused Nazar.

“Al… Alright,” he agreed anyway.

Behind Lucifer, a portal appeared behind Lucifer and swallowed him.

Nazar let out another sigh and walked closer to Eddie.

“Hi,” he patted him on the shoulder. “How are you feeling?”

Eddie shook his head a little.

“I… I-- I don’t know.”

Nazar could see the emotions within him.

He was feeling angry and horror for himself. He was heartbroken over the fact he broke off his promise with his parents. He was worried this might become the norm in his life.

What will he do if he is faced with a similar situation? Will he kill the person too?

“Hey, hey, don’t worry,” Nazar stood in front of him and placed his hands on his shoulders, consoling him. “You didn’t kill her. I was the one who did it. That sword… It is weak. It did not kill her. So, don’t worry, alright?”

Eddie brushed away Nazar’s arm.

“Does it… Do you not feel anything when you kill them?”

Nazar shook his head without hesitation.

“I am sorry, but no. I do not feel anything. I never did. It began when I had no emotions, so I got used to it. Would it have been different if I had emotions…? I do not know.”

Eddie nodded as he acknowledged his reasons.

“But for you, it’s different. I don’t think I understand, so I will not try to play the nicer guy and lie here.”

“Thanks.”

“Either way, you did not kill her. Only weakened her slightly. Annnnnnd, she cannot die," for once, Nazar was happy that she cannot die. "I killed her before and she came back. So, I don’t think she died.”

Eddie kept quiet and did not say anything.

Nazar created a portal behind him.

“But let me show you the one you saved.”

Eddie looked up at him.

“Could I have saved her? Perhaps, but I could have been late or I could have damaged the world… But you… You saved me and her and the world. So, thank you.”

Nazar smiled widely.

“So, come. Let me show you the person you saved besides me,” he pointed at the portal with his head.

“...”

Eddie was not sure what to feel. He was still feeling conflicted about it. And he was not sure if Nazar was telling the truth.

“Let’s go.”

The portal was about to swallow them, but Eddie shouted, “Wait!”

“Hm?”

“We need to help the people on this island. So, we can do that later.”

Well, at least he is feeling a little better. So, that’s good.

“Alright. I guess I am responsible for this…”

Nazar noticed the spear, which had fallen to the ground earlier.

“Oh!” he picked up the spear.

He extended his right hand forward.

Eddie was confused, but he just shook his head and walked towards the students and teachers.

“「Treasury of Eternity」!”

Behind him, an orange doorway to an unknown dimension appeared.

It was too bright for normal people to see anything, but if they could, they would see the mightiest weapons in creation along with rare metals and books with great power.

“「Reality Breaker」, this is your home now.”

The spear flew out of his hand and into the treasury.

The orange doorway vanished.

Nazar breathed in heavily.

There are some people I knew and were close to me… Oh boy, this is not going to be fun...

He shook his head, throwing away his thoughts.

Ah, I can avoid speaking to them and let Eddie--- Eddie. Ah, the new feeling I got from his energy was odd.

“Wait a minute,” he called out at Eddie as he ran slowly behind him. “What’s up with that… that magic of yours? It feels different.”

“Ah...”

For a second, Eddie wanted to lie and keep quiet about his new magic but then decided against it.

“It’s Norse… Rune Magic.”

“The what magic?”

“R-U-N-E Magic.”

With his mouth half-open, he blurted out, “Ehhh?”

Eddie looked back and shrugged.

“Fine, we will talk about it later.”

A short while earlier, outside the multiverse:

Emily was holding a ladybug shaped facial hair removing machine with antennas. She hated it, so she wanted to destroy it within her hand. However, without it, she won’t save the earth, so she restrained herself.

Chronos, who was floating next to her, wondered what the device could do.

Emily had an idea about what it could do, but she was not very sure about it.

“Here goes nothing...”

She held the device at the planet which was moving up and down through the phases and channelled her energy through it.

“Hm.”

The planet was plucked out of the multiverse as a golden barrier appeared around it.

Chronos looked at her, with questions.

“What is your next move, my lady?”

“I...”

The device lit up again as the barrier vanished.

Earth’s value had been reset, so with the barrier going away, it was placed back into its rightful place.

“Huh...”

The task was finished, but Emily did not feel like she accomplished anything.

With complicated feelings, she kept looking at the device.

“This is… I don’t know, I was expecting something grand.”

She faced the Lord of Time.

“What about you?”

Emily extended her right hand which was holding the device and returned it to him.

“I do not understand the weapon or its purpose, but I shall keep this for safety reasons.”

He took the device and placed it within his head chest for safekeeping.

“I see… That is my friend for you.”

The warm smile on her face was not befitting of what was happening to her world just a moment ago.

Lord of Time wondered, shouldn't she be worried?

But he dared not question her.

“Do you need me for something else, my lady?”

She shook her head, “Mm, no. Thank you, Chronos.”

Chronos smiled coldly and vanished into thin air.

Emily too left for Earth.

Plymouth:

Phantom Star clenched her fist as the growling beast - Gluttony - shot himself at her.

“i Am to KIllllllll yOuuuuUuU!”

His aim was a person standing behind everyone; Laura.

But no one realised that.

They thought perhaps the monster wanted to kill Phantom Star because she killed him earlier.

Her eyes lit up with blue energy and shot it at the monster to stagger him.

For a short moment, the beast was on the ground, unable to attack, so she looked back at Aeron and the others.

“Believe in me.”

She spoke a few short words, but the confused civilians did not understand it.

“Especially you,” she pointed at Laura.

Laura looked around her for a brief moment before holding her thumb at her chest and asking nervously, “M-me?”

Phantom Star nodded.

Laura wondered why, but she did not ask.

That energy within her… It’s quite interesting. If she “believes” in me, I should be able to absorb that energy.

When people “believe” in her, Phantom Star’s power grows greatly.

But right now, she wants Laura to “believe” her, so a backdoor is created for Phantom Star to absorb the energies within her.

Until then...

She tapped her ear and sent a signal across space.

“Old hag,” she spoke through the earpiece with her maid. “Initiate project: Belief.”

“- You got it, young mistress. -”

Everyone on Phanomia is born with great energy, capable of great destruction. So, when they believe in her, her power grows on a much greater scale. The stronger her believer is, the greater her power grows.

“Thanks. Please be quick, this monster is dangerous.”

“- I will be as quick as possible. -”

The monster stood up.

“DiEeEeeeeEEEeee!!!”

The monster’s growl created a shockwave so powerful, even Phantom Star had to take a step back.

To save the others behind her, the blue aura around her expanded and shielded them.

This monster can eat anything I throw at him, so I need to find a way where it will not be able to eat anything.

If the monster can eat energy, then that is out of the picture.

“!!”

As the monster attacked her, she slid between his legs and stood behind him.

I am thinking about this wrongly.

Before the monster had a chance to turn around, she wrapped her arm around its neck and pulled him away from civilians.

If he can absorb everything I throw at him, then I must do the same. I should try absorbing his energies instead.

She strengthened her grip on the monster.

Within her, she felt her power increasing and increasing.

It seems Project: Belief had been activated.

With her swift movement, she slammed the monster into the ground.

Before the monster could react, she ripped out his limbs.

As long as it’s not magic, I should have no problem absorbing it…

Although Venus has absorbed many forms of energies she is not too sure it will work out right now.

This monster’s energies aren’t alien to her, but after seeing the odd energy within Laura, she is confused and conflicted. That energy is very different and seems unapproachable. So, she is hoping the monster is not faking his energy signature to make her drop her guard.

Here I go!

She held the monster tight from the back and started absorbing the energies within it.

Will this be enough?

Perhaps not. The monster still had enough strength to break off her hold on him.

How I wish I had the ability to petri---!!

She recently fought against her greatest enemy, Jina. She feeds off fear like a leech.

This monster feeds off the energy of any form.

The core!

Indeed, the energy they steal is stored inside their core.

Every being has an existence, which is their core. That core is encompassed by a soul then a body.

I need to destroy that.

Phantom Star kicked the monster in the back, breaking something which made a cracking sound. She assumed it was a bone.

Her blue eyes lit up and unleashed a torrent of energy at the monster which was absorbed.

But Phantom Star did not mind that.

She had slightly changed the energy and turned it into something else, which she couldn’t sense within a monster. The energy of a supernova.

The intelligence of the monster was very low, so he could not comprehend the new energy in time. Thus he could not absorb it very well.

It was the same last time, he only managed to make it his own, he had to die and come back to get used to it.

So, she is hoping the monster will die again.

More, I need--

Her eyes widened slightly and looked at Laura.

A hint of happiness blossomed on her face.

“She believes in me… Good!”

She got a glimpse of Laura’s mutated energies. The energies of an ancient God of Destruction was residing in her core, which had mutated over time and changed, birthing a unique form of energy never seen before.

Now that the backdoor was open, her energies were leaking out and being absorbed by Phantom Star.

However, she was not sure if she could absorb it, so she channelled it into the beast and he exploded immediately.

Odd… The amount I pulled from her was very little yet...

She gave up trying to make sense of it and came to a very simple solution.

Perhaps Nazar’s energies have been mixed in with hers. It makes sense.

It made sense for her and she was not wrong. Nazar’s energy has flowed within her too, which has also mutated.

“!”

She was absorbed in Laura’s energy, she forgot about the monster.

Looking down, she saw a crystal of white energy.

Is this it?

The core of the person depends on each species. Some have a humanoid form, others a ball of energy, or crystal of energy, and others have no identifiable form.

As the monster exploded before her, his core was left behind which was a crystal of energy.

She took the crystal with both of her hands and smashed it between her palms before the monster could recreate itself.

Once the core is exposed, it is easy to destroy the monsters.

“Phew,” she breathed out a sigh of relief.

And so, the monster was dead.

Phantom Star rubbed her hands together and relaxed her body.

“Hi, I am Phantom Star,” she smiled her usual hopeful wide smile. “Are you hurt?”

Her sincere and worried tone calmed them down.

“Ah, I am a…” she paused for a moment to rethink the relationship she has with Nazar.

The reason Jina has been such a pain to her over the years is because of Nazar.

He is also the cause of a lot of pain in her life when battling villains.

To begin with, she became a hero because he wanted to catch his attention.

So, she is not sure if there is anything good in that relationship of theirs.

But that awesome power of his is what she likes a lot, so she decided.

It’s not all bad. Power is everything!

“Friend of Nazar’s, so do not worry.”

Phantom Star’s eyes fell onto Laura’s and thought, Perhaps he is with her because of that interesting energy? It would make all the sense in the universe…

“Ahhh,” muttering to herself under her breath, her shoulders drooped as she lowered her eyes in a gloomy manner. “I wish I had that energy within me...”

“Thank you,” Aeron spoke somewhat nervously. He was still wary of this person. “Thanks a lot for saving us.”

“You’re welcome,” she pasted the happy and understanding smile on her face once again.

“Your… Your leg,” Angela felt sorry that somebody else had to get hurt for their sake, “it’s still bleeding.”

Venus looked down at her leg and swept her hand across it.

“Oh, no need to worry about such trivial injuries, it will heal very quickly,” she waved her hands in front of her chest. “It happens.”

“Phantom Star.”

Behind her, she heard a stern voice.

She knew who it was, so her body stiffened with complicated feelings. Many feelings swam within her, from regret to sadness, from jealousy to disappointment.

Looking back, she saw Nazar standing behind her.

Next to him was standing a blonde man with green eyes whom she had seen before but cannot seem to recall.

“What happened here?”

She took a deep breath to calm down her emotions before speaking.

“A monster attacked this home and I managed to stop it in time.”

“Is that so… Thank you.”

“No need to thank me,” she waved her hand in a dismissive manner. “That’s what heroes do after all.”

“Ah...”

This is awkward...

“For helping with my problem a few days ago, I thank you.”

“D--”

Before Nazar could say anything, she spoke frantically and floated from the ground.

“Now I need to go. Bye.”

Waving her hand, she flew away from Earth.

“What am I doing?”

She questioned her life as she flew through the dark of space.

“If I was...” she bit her lip in anger. “If I was only a little stronger, then perhaps this would have ended differently… Right?”

Venus remembered what her maid had told her about kidnapping Laura and then pushing herself at Nazar.

She hated herself for thinking about taking her joke of advice seriously.

“!! Hm.”

An idea flashed through her mind.

“Since I have a long life and she doesn’t… Perhaps I should wait and try my chance after she dies?”

She was very proud of her idea, so she smiled widely.

“Woohoo,” she spun around gleefully as she flew in the midst of darkness. “This will work perfectly!”
