Chapter 147.6

Arc 14.5 - God of Stories - Part 6

The man in the black robes was floating like a dead man in the middle of dark space.

“Hehe...”

He lost.

His big plan failed.

Millions upon millions of years wasted, carefully plotting for this exact moment but it failed almost instantly. God had other plans.

“Haha...”

His shoulders trembled. It trembled terribly.

However, not of fear or anger, but of laughter.

“That was...”

His heart started beating faster and faster.

His chest welled up.

His laughter turned into a thin smile.

His breathing turned heavy.

His cheeks flushed red in excitement.

“EXHILARATING!”

He moved his right arm to cover the right side of his face.

“To think he was hiding something like that, MARVELLOUS!”

He breathed out.

“Really, why was that thing hiding… Haha!”

He laughed and laughed and laughed in the middle of the dark and cold space.

“Ahhhhh. It’s great to know he still has something up his sleeve.”

His heart rate skyrocketed.

He was so excited, he wanted to squeal.

“What else do you have in store for me...”

The robes around him disintegrated.

His red eyes flared brightly.

“GOD?!”

The black space trembled around him.

“I have to change my plans and perhaps it’s time to do things randomly. If calculations fail, then perhaps gambling with fate should be fun.”

He turned his head to the left, as if he were talking to someone.

“Right, God of Light?”

In the pitch-black darkness, a golden white figure of energy appeared.

“I am disappointed...”

The man looked left, then right, before facing X once again.

“I see, you go by X now.”

“Mm-hmm.”

“This game of chess is getting boring, X. Both of our pawns failed. Miserably, if I were being honest.”

X stood up as a planet appeared between the two of them. It was a large empty grey planet.

But only for a moment.

On this empty planet, beautiful flowers and grass flourished. At every corner, colourful flowers bloomed at a sun that did not exist mere moments ago.

Among the infinite colourful garden, a red Chinese shrine appeared.

The two of them sat at a table as green leaf tea and two small cups appeared on it.

“Shall we play a different game then, perhaps?” X asked.

“Hmm, we have this far, so let’s leave aside calculations. And as you mentioned earlier, it is time to gamble with fate.”

“It’s funny, don’t you think, Dragon?”

The man made of golden energies was none other than the Dragon. A mysterious being who has been loitering around the creation and involved with some major players such as Nazar.

“We are above 「Fate」, but we want to gamble with it.”

“It is indeed true,” the Dragon nodded.

X clicked his tongue.

“Please,” he spoke to the Dragon, unamused.

“I apologise.”

The form of the man known as Dragon changed.

He looked like a human.

“Much better,” X smiled.

The two of them looked alike, almost as if staring in the mirror

“I have been meaning to ask, why do you call me the “God of Light”?”

“Because you radiate light.”

The Dragon scoffed.

“I have been wondering, why did you not ascend?”

The Dragon picked up the cup and sipped the tea.

“Delicious tea, very well done.”

“Thank you,” X bowed his head slightly. “I am honoured.”

The Dragon placed the teacup back on the table.

“I was greater than the World, I stood above it and the stories. I did not need to ascend. To ascend, it means for people of the Virrasil or the Supreme Beings to become greater than stories. But if I am already ahead of it, why must I ascend?“

“Hmmm, that is true,” X nodded his head with pursed lips, he understood. “Another question.”

“Please, go ahead.”

“What was the first omniverse like?” X questioned with narrow eyes.

Dragon picked up the cup and took another mouthful sip from it.

“Simple,” he said just one word. “Very simple.”

X understood.

“A world moved by fate rather than calculations, it was… interesting.”

X opened his mouth, trying to say something, but the Dragon gestured with his eyes and stopped him.

“Most of us were stories, we did not have wills of our own. We did not have to make decisions for ourselves but were written for us.”

X shook his head, and the Dragon did not continue further.

“I know that much, but you misunderstand my question, Ikeiss.”

“Oh?”

X raised the cup and took a mouthful.

“What were you like?”

“Ah,”

The Dragon took a moment to think.

“I was an anomaly, similar to him. I devoured the Virrasil, but I also devoured their power, vision, and mission. I was the most powerful being and if I devoured every God ever, I could become omnipotent. That was very uncertain.”

“Hmm.”

“In any case, after a few trillion years, I hated that state. My power kept growing and...”

“The same old, same old, no?”

Dragon nodded.

“”Power is suffering and death is solace”, right?”

“Indeed, indeed. Hm. Oh. Ah, speaking of Solace, what happened to her?”

“That’s… a secret.”

The Dragon nodded again, understanding what he said.

“She was quite beautiful, it’s unfortunate that she got caught into something so...”

“Indeed,” X nodded with a long face. “It’s terrible. But we have to do everything we can to achieve our goal.”

The Dragon took a sip of his cup.

“Ah, please, continue the story,” X gestured with his hand.

“In any case, a human was born and someone who could finally take my place. Luckily, the Supreme Beings, not influenced by me in the original omniverse, did just that for me.”

"Hmm."

X, doubting the Dragon's words, took a mouthful of his cup.

"But Ikeiss, you lie."

The Dragon narrowed his eyes.

"You are contradicting what you told someone else in another time."

"Right," seeing how he could not fend off this man, the Dragon nodded with regret.

X shrugged.

"Oh, I don't want to be rude, but I just want to confirm this matter once again."

The Dragon took a sip of the tea.

"Arosus… Will he be joining the battle?"

"Yes, but not now. Leaving that aside, please, continue."

A small grunt escaped the mouth of the Dragon.

"You are right. I am contradicting myself. Because it's shameful."

"Hmm."

"It was not the Supreme One and the Nameless One who pushed him that far. It was…"

The Dragon sucked in a breath, regretfully.

"Me."

X smiled thinly.

"The man who wanted to reach a position he could not himself with that beautiful ability which can devour any God. Such shamefulness," X shook his head, teasingly.

"Indeed. But in the new omniverse, our new God forced me into a position of fabricating a universe where he will end up being the tragic hero."

X narrowed his eyes.

"How different is his origin?"

"Even I do not know that no matter how much I want to. But I do know one thing, it was different. Vastly different."

"I see."

Although X was quite disappointed, he did not question his enemy anymore.

Which means, it was the Dragon's turn to ask some questions.

"Why?"

X looked down as he picked up the cup. He held it between his palms and stared at it.

The light glimmered on the green tea as the cup shook slightly.

"I want to die."

"And?"

"I want him to know my suffering."

"Hmm."

"But I don't understand why you have been standing against me for so long, Ikeiss. In a way, we have similar goals."

Dragon turned his head to the right and looked around the temple, admiring its beauty.

"I just don't like the one you gambled on."

X slammed his hands onto the table.

"But how WOULD YOU KNOW THAT?!"

X breathed out heavily, calming himself as he sat back on the floor.

"I did not gamble on her billions of years after our battle started."

"I…"

The Dragon looked into the angry eyes of X.

"This was my mission. To stop you and her. The new God forced me into this position just as I did to him in the old omniverse."

X let out a small puff of air, relaxing himself.

"So, did he want this world to be so evil? Everyone wanting power and those who get it are fated to suffer? It doesn't make sense. It doesn't fit his character."

Dragon wore an expression that said: "he does a lot of things that don't fit his character".

With a silent scoff, he said, "No, that was my doing. You could call it my revenge. But sadly, I fell into my own trap. Too powerful for my own good and that…"

The Dragon sighed in a defeated manner.

"I hated that."

"..."

X's eyes widened slightly.

For some reasons, he was hoping that this was not the case and he was hoping the Dragon was innocent. He wanted to team up with him so both of them can achieve their goals together.

"I helped Lucifer because I saw him fit for a perfect pawn, but sad to say, he did not do as I expected. But it did create a fighting force against you and the Queen."

“Yeah, well, I have plans that will keep your fighting force at bay.“

The Dragon chuckled.

“As expected of you, my lifelong enemy.”

“Likewise.”

X smiled softly.

They both put their cups on the table.

In the next instant, the world vanished into nothingness and so did its sun.

The Dragon took his energy form while around X dark cloaks appeared.

“This is my fresh look, by the way. At least to keep myself low.”

“I see.”

“Farewell, my enemy.”

“Likewise. I hope you fail.”

“Haha, you too, Dragon.”

The universe glitched as two of them slipped out of this Ultraverse and into another.
