《Why I am me》23. Ara-be-lle

It hadn’t been a good day. At the beginning everything seemed to go well, the conversation with his brother being fruitful. He also seemed to have good expectations after I had explained everything, but then those guys had to be there, loitering around in the kitchen.
I glanced at them as my brother and I entered the kitchen to go to the other side of the restaurant and I realized that they all glanced back, not with the usual disgusted looks, but instead with vicious ones.
But I wouldn’t let them get to my head, I was there to showcase the improvement in my cooking prowess to my brother and nothing else. Another day I’d show them their place, but now I had to focus into cooking as best as I could.
I directed Gabriel towards his chair for him to wait there and then I reentered the restaurant. I knew it wasn’t going to be a fun experience having those three in the same room, but I didn’t expect it to be as bad as it turned out to be.
Sooo… who’s that Arrrabelle??? Your boyfriend? Did you infect him with your monster disease? – One of the boys started bothering Arabelle. Of course, she did! No one else would stay with her otherwise! Hahaha – Another one continued. Get far away from her, she might infect us too! – The third one ended and all three boys got further away from her.
Arabelle was already used to verbal abuse, so she didn’t mind them and continued preparing her workplace, ingredients and mind to prepare a very good meal. At first, she planned to make steak for the main meal and a cake as a desert, but the kids were blocking the path towards the eggs and the sugar, so she wouldn’t be able to access them that day.
Instead, she would need to prepare a salad and steak, his brother wouldn’t mind either way… probably. Well, he didn’t know what she would cook in the first place, so he needn’t know of this sudden change. He also didn’t need to know of her experiences here, but she was sure that he had already realized something was up.
His brother knew her for the longest time, and she also knew him just as long, so they knew how to read each other, but Arabelle had been practicing her acting skills not to show any weaknesses not only towards his brother, but also to the three boys who kept mocking her, replicating her looks and then laughing about it.
But this wasn’t enough for them, because one of the kids realized that they were close to the eggs and told the other two how fun it’d be to throw eggs at her and so they did. The first few hit her cooking zone, missing her by a bit and activating her defense mechanism.

But after a few shots the boys got better and better at throwing the eggs so she couldn’t escape from them all and she also wanted to protect what she had already worked on; therefore, she could only get hit a few times. But seeing that she stopped reacting they got bored and continued to mock her between themselves instead.
Finally managing to get some work done, Arabelle used these minutes wisely and not only cooked the chicken and the steak, but she also managed to prepare the rice balls so that they would only need to be fried.
Work was quickly being done, but she was too centered around her work, so she didn’t realize that the three kids had approached her and already had a new “fun” game to entertain them. It was called “cook Arabelle” and all they did was pour ingredient over ingredient over her and then hit her with cooking utensils. After they finished, they all simply ran away, leaving not only the mess they had just made, but also all the eggs they had thrown before.
Even with all that which had happened around her Arabelle still was about to finish the food, but she could go out with all dirty and full of bruises. What she had experienced gave her an idea and she covered herself with flour, disguising the bruises and some of the smell.
It worked but it also didn’t work, as Gabriel instantly noticed that which she had done, got mad about it and the situation which she had experienced and stated that he’d get back to them. Arabelle rejected this motion as she was going to solve her problems on her own, even though she didn’t tell him. She was going to surprise him with her abilities of which she was quite proud.
Sadly, the situation caused by the kids caused his brother not only not comment anything about her cooked food, he didn’t talk to her at all while they ate and also stayed quite during their walk back to the church.
There Gabriel grabbed her hands, looked at her and then let her go, which left her quite surprised, because she believed that he’d get furious at the situation, but it seemed that he managed to control those feelings quite well.
Now that Arabelle had time for herself she could start planning her vengeance where she’d get back to them for all they’d done to her and finish the confrontation with a huge blow of which they wouldn’t recover.
The next day
Arabelle didn’t waste any time, as she had used all the time of the previous day to get the perfect vengeance and today was the day, she’d do it. Yesterday she had decided that it had been enough and Arabelle wasn’t known to be a patient girl.

At daybreak she walked out of the convent and into the city, to be present at the opening of the restaurant. She had cleaned some of the trashing her bullies had done but the different powders they had thrown on her had quite the smell and they had quickly expanded through the whole kitchen before they stopped thrashing her.
And even more some stains of the floor were still there, as she didn’t have enough time to clean it all. She knew that she would get reprimanded and not the kids that had created all that chaos, but it was exactly because she had nothing to lose that she’d let loose.
Reaching the front of the restaurant she saw that the owner was coming, together with his son, the main baddy, the one that ordered the other two around, the biggest target of her revenge. It seemed that the boy had opened his mouth in his house, because the owner had a furious look and when he saw Arabelle in front of the door it turned even worse.
When they were in front of each other the owner slapped her and told her that she had to leave, but Arabelle enacted her plans. With puppy eyes she cried towards him and asked him to let her cook one more time in his kitchen, to relive the memories she had the luck to experience.
After a discussion that took less time than expected Arabelle was inside the kitchen and she even managed to snag the boy inside, with the pretense of a cooking competition that she had heard that the professionals had and the owner was going to be the one to rate their foods, but without knowing which was which’s.
He was, of course, more doubtful of Arabelle’s true intentions after asking this, because she may be trying to poison him, but he’d have her taste-test both of the plates to be safe. Alas this had passed through Arabelle’s mind, but she decided to go for another, more sinister plan.
Inside the kitchen the boy mocked her again, but this time she actually defended herself and hit him back, with quite a force actually, which took him by surprise, and he screamed as a reaction. But only Arabelle could listen to him, as she had blocked the door with a quieting spell that, if mastered, would leave no sounds go through. She also had blocked the physical access with some furniture which she had left prepared one day ago, making them locked together, which was exactly what Arabelle wanted.
After leaving him on the ground, groaning in pain, she followed to start cooking. Heating the oil until it was boiling and then throwing the contents of the pot on top of the boy, making sizzling noise as his skin burned and the boy screamed. But this turned out to be too much for his brain to handle and he was knocked unconscious.
Arabelle then took some of his skin, using it as an ingredient in the two plates she was going to cook, one representing her and one representing the boy. She could easily replicate his cooking prowess and so she did, kicking and hitting the boy every time he woke up until he was knocked out again.
It was truly a torture, but she would heal him superficially, mute and hypnotize him for a while until she was out of the restaurant and free to go. Taking both plates herself, she put them in front of the father who was looking at his well posed son, thinking to himself that he was finally serious about something.
But he didn’t forget to make Arabelle take a sip or bite of each of the plates and seeing that she was fine, he decided to eat them. One of them was pasta with a sauce and cheese, which actually was the peeled skin of his son cut into very thin pieces and the other was a salad with a Caesar sauce, but in it were skin parts.
After an invisible inner debate inside the rater’s mind, he decided to give the win to his son, even though what Arabelle had made was way tastier, but he couldn’t shame his son, even less now that his friends had come, and he was finally behaving.
He sent Arabelle home and after a few minutes she heard a loud boyish painful scream followed by two more childish shouts and an angry roar and she smiled to herself. She had gotten her revenge and it felt awesome.
