《The Strongest Soul》Chapter 3: First Sound

The dead bodies of the children laid in the dark forest waiting for the beasts in the area to consume them. However, one body suddenly jolted up and looked around in confusion. His eyes were pitch black, almost like a demon had possessed him. However, after a bit of time looking around and blinking, his eyes went back to normal. A black aura swirled around him but that too went away.
Slowly, this child got up and saw that he was surrounded by many many dead bodies. Seeing as he was the only one alive right now, he came to the idea that the Darkdrop guy thought he was dead… or maybe he was dead. Shivers went down his spine and he started to walk around, hoping to find anybody out in this dark forest.
The darkness didn’t bother him, as he was used to it since it was always dark on this planet. What did make him scared was the fact that he was in foreign place and didn’t know what to do or where to go. He knew there were beasts in the area since every place on this planet contained beasts so he wanted to be quiet. He didn’t dare to yell out in search of anybody here.
He walked around aimlessly, but made sure to follow a straight path in case he got lost and would have to turn back. He walked for what seemed like forever to him. Time seemed to go on for a long time, minutes turned to hours and hours turned into days. He was starving by now, his ribs could be seen under his torn ragged clothes.
He had been lucky so far in not encountering any beasts. They were probably all drawn in the direction of the decaying children who laid on the ground. All this child could think about was seeing his family again, whether they still remembered him, if they would even take him back. Thoughts of giving up rose within his mind but he pushed them aside and continued on nonetheless.

He had pushed on before to live, so why would he give up now? This crossed his mind many times when he thought about stopping to rest. So he just kept on walking without a destination. He hoped to get somewhere, reach someone, but what he most hoped for was to live to see his family. This was the sole reason he kept on walking forward.
Grrrr!
His stomach gurgled but this was a sound that he had heard countless times already for who knew how long. He had already lost count of how long he had been walking around. His vision was blurry, he was extremely cold, and his bones could be seen through his skin. He was in a very sorry state at the moment. But after so many days of being like this, it didn’t even bother him anymore. All he did was keep walking in pursuit of finding any kind of hope. Any kind of situation that would let all his hard work pay off.
Grrrr!
Another sound came but this time instead of continuing to walk, he stopped in place and looked ahead of him. Although his vision was blurry he was able to make out the image of a wolf ahead of him. It had pitch black fur and bright yellow eyes that pierced through the night. It growled once more and pounced toward the child.
The child didn’t look to even bother dodging. That was because he had run out of any kind of energy to do anything other than walk. The wolf knocked him down to the ground easily.
Riiip!
The wolf bit into his arm and tore it up just as easily. The little blood that the child had left trickled out and was consumed by the wolf. The wolf continued to chew and tear.
“AAAHHH!” A bloodcurdling, ear piercing cry rang out. This was the first sound this child made since waking up.
