《Watson&Holmes》Case2 Two diamonds - ch13

Just as the light bathed the earth, Irene Adler stepped down from the carriage in a crimson dress. The men who stood at the gate opened the door when they saw her.
"Boss is in the cell."
One of the men whispered. The lady passed the brick corridor and opened the door to the cell. In the room, there were 4 people; besides the foreign man Behrouz Zakaria, another silver-haired man was imprisoned. Irene stepped to the right side of the red-haired man sitting on the chair. He was keeping an eye on the two prisoners in a good mood.
"Boss ... Is this the new person you said has a special skill?"
"Yes, in addition to having a strange physical condition. There is also language proficiency," said the red-haired man who was called boss. "So, I don't have to hassle to find an interpreter."
"What did you kidnap me for?" Watson said for the first time since the man entered the cell. He stared at the man called 'Boss.'
"To do whatever I want."
Boss said and turned to nod to the little, golden-haired woman standing on the left. She answered the command visually, then walked to the table, took out the paper and pen, ready to take notes.
"First of all ... What were you guys talking about?"
The man still didn't forget the first moment he heard Watson and the foreign man chatting.
"I heard him say Persia, so asks to confirm, nothing special," Watson replied with a serious look in his eyes and face.
"So? ..." saw Watson speak without hesitation. The chief man didn't ask further. Then he gave orders to Watson.
"Ask his name."
Watson gazed at the person everyone called the boss and thought of something. If what the man said 'To do whatever I want' to be true, he wants to know where it ends. Watson turned to look at the Persian man asked.
"What's your name?" Watson said in Persian.
The foreign man, who said his name was Behrouz, was a little quiet. The bruised face was confused when Watson asked his name again. After a second, he repeated his name and surname.
"Behrouz Zakaria"
"His name is Behrouz Zakaria."
Watson spoke in English to the chief man and was surprised that he didn't say anything further. Including the golden-haired woman who should have taken the role of note everything but did not put the pen on the paper

"What's your name?"
The boss repeats a question in Persian same as Watson had just ask. Although the accent wasn't as good as Watson's, it was clearly not the first time he spoke Persian.
"Hmm, the real thing pronounce like that." The boss turned to smile, laughing with Irene. "Well, I'm not all fluent."
"Boss is fluent in German, French, Spanish, Chinese. And communicating in five other languages is excellent," said Irene.
Watson stared at the man who was the boss of the kidnap gang. The implication of that conversation is that they already knew the name Behrouz. But tricked Watson to see if Watson was lying or not. And since the boss knows some Persian so don't expect to easily trick. Maybe before Watson came, the gang leader probably did the job of communicating. Still, because he didn't know much of Persian, he needed a professional interpreter.
But they certainly wouldn't have me to do their job just as an interpreter.
"Ask him where is the ‘treasure'?" The boss orders Watson again.
"Where is the treasure?" Watson turned to spoke Persian with Behrouz.
"I don't know what treasure you are talking about."
Behrouz said, and then Watson turned to translated into English for the boss.
"Ah, there you go. You keep saying you don't know, you don't know, even though bruised all over your body, you still say that you don't know. Should I change the punishment method, so you don't dare to say 'I don't know' to me again?"
Clap Clap
The gang leader clapped his hands two times. Then William and the other men walked in. Without waiting for the boss to open his mouths, they dragged Behrouz out of the cage and tethered him to the wall. Then William took a leather whip and handed it to the boss.
"Irene, you do."
Irene Adler took the leather whip and stepped in front of Behrouz. Eyes as black as the color of darkness stared at the man in front of her. She slashed the whip on Behrouz’s chest with a blank expression. As if this act was just a step on an ant. The foreign men shouted as the whip cut his flesh skin the blood flowed. Then William walked to pick up a jar of white powder. He knowingly poured a handful of white powder and placed it on the fresh wound on Behrouz’s chest. Press repeatedly, as if it were normal in everyday life.

Watson watched Behrouz wrestling with pain. He can smell that white powder was salt.
"Okay, let's move on to the next question. If you still answer, you don't know, I will increase the punishment more."
"Okay, let's move on to the next question. If you still answer that I don't know, I will increase the punishment more ... Are you a member of the 'Black Hawk' Pirates' Correct'?" Watson conveyed both threats and questions from the gang leader.
Behrouz gasped have a hard time replying because of the pain.
"Ye... yes, just a low-level scum."
Watson turned to translate to the leader of the gang. Then the man could shoot the next question for Watson to ask.
"Two months ago, your Black Hawk Pirates robbed a merchant ship from a Greek merchant. There were treasure chests inside containing many gold, diamonds, necklaces, and rings, right."
"The items from that ship are a lot of expensive things. But I'm not the one who managed the valuables that were seized, so I... didn't know much."
Watson is the translator to convey questions and threats in Persian, question after question. Tells answers from Persian to English, sentence after sentence. Every time Behrouz’s response was unsatisfactory, he was punished in a way that made him wish he could die.
Now Watson knows why Behrouz was arrested for. But the matter to him was how to verify Holmes's whereabouts. Is Holmes really kidnapped by these people, or is it a lie? He will have to find a way to test it.
"Why did the Black Hawk Pirates break up with each other ... How much that man understand this language?" Watson asked the questions he had been asked to ask and insert his own personal questions. It is a very risky action. But Watson chose to try.
Behrouz looked up at Watson for a moment. He understood what Watson was thinking. And ready to play this game together.
"How does someone like me know about boss's problem, you won't tell your men everything too ... know a little," Behrouz replied, leaving the answer to Watson's question in the last sentence.
Watson, who had listened to the answer, knew he would have a chance to gather information without the kidnappers caught.
But the boss who heard the translation did not ask further questions. He sighed tiredly and turned his head away. That's a new sign of punishment. Irene, who understood the intent of the boss, changed to the new equipment. She used pliers to pull the nail of Behrouz’s right index finger immediately.
“Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!”
Blood rained pouring out from the fingertips, and if Behrouz hadn't been tethered to the wall, he would have thrashed around on the ground.
"Okay, while you're still unconscious, I'll give you one more chance ..." The boss pointed to Behrouz and asked the next question.
"You escaped from the ship at the same time the group was broken. Are you still going to pretend not to know about it again?" Watson did the interpreter. Without forgetting to ask about what he wants to know. "... where is this place? How long have you been here? "
Behrouz stared at the boss with vengeful eyes. He grits his jaw to suppress the pain. The hand that had just been pulled the nails trembled.
"When others began to argue about the irrational share, the situation seemed to worst. I hurriedly escaped first for my own safety ... didn't know the location, been a week here."
"Why did you choose to escape to England ... Do you know who these people are?" Watson continued.
"England ...we used to lay low and hide things around the port ... I don't know."
The gang leader laughed as he listened to the translation.
"You think saying this will make me lit up and ask 'Where' is it?" He got up from his chair. Walked and stopped in front of the pale Behrouz.
"You don't want to be tortured and think you will tell the random location, and now I know you lied ..."
Suddenly, the door opened again. One of the men who Watson recognized as one of the men who had carried him walked in and handed a piece of paper that Watson thought was telegraph paper to his boss. After reading the message, the boss glanced at Behrouz. Then turned to look at Watson.
"How long do you intend to capture me? Where is Holmes?" Watson asked in a harsh voice.
"Tie him up like this and gag too. I don't want prisoners can talk to each other," the boss ordered William. Then walked out of the cell with two female followers.
