《Aurelia Online》Chapter 2 - Time To Choose My Species
Advertisement
"Hello Mr. Nortaz. Welcome to Aurelia. Shall we begin on character creation?" a woman dressed in what I assume would be space wear asked me.
"Ah yea that sounds good. Mind if I ask a few questions while I'm at it?"
"If you so wish and it doesn't break protocol then it is fine. Now which race would you like to start as?"
"Hmm....."
I glance at all the choices and it nearly knocks me down with how many there are. Nearly 6000 races (mostly monster and demihuman) are available as starter choices. Even though I expected a lot this is….rather surprising.
While I'm at it let me explain the monster races. They all follow paths along which they evolve. This goes for every single monster race, though there are times where exceptions come into place(such as a monster becoming a beastman). As such it gives a more varied choice but a bit restrictive ability-wise though if a player trains hard enough they can change that by unlocking a variant species or even unlocking a whole different species path. It gives it a true feeling of influencing yourself through actions.
"Can you remove any choices that aren't humanoid undead or can become a humanoid undead?" (Derrick)
"Ah...if that is what you wish.." the woman removed all except the ones the young man requested and looked at him curiously as very few people have chosen undead so far.
"Interesting.....this one might be worth watching...or not. Maybe I'll tell one of the younger deities...maybe Nerosia...she always was partial to the cursed races..." she thought amused.
"Thank you....hmm....by the way I didn't catch your name." Derrick lessened his choices to 4 different ones. Wraith, True Ghoul, Skeleton, and Zombie.

"I never said it," she smiled and chuckled like it was a joke, "but I suppose I could tell you. My name is Arlesta, deity of creation."
"Ironic that the deity of creation is the one for character creation...makes sense I guess.. Thank you for telling me. Ah can I see the stats for these four species? "
"As you wish."
Four windows popped up in front of Derrick at that moment:
Race: Undead
Species: Wraith
Status:
HP: 50
MP: 100
PP(Psionics Points): 0
Strength: 5
Endurance: 5
Intelligence: 10
Wisdom: 10
Agility: 5
Wraiths are ethereal undead leftover when the soul of a creature is filled with regret or hate, as such they are prone to bouts of rage d tend to be shunned from civilized communities.
Wraiths are immune to physical attacks but they are vulnerable to most magics and psionics.
The evolutionary paths of Wraiths tend to follow the same path as they evolve from emotions and Mana absorption as such, most evolve from hate or sadness. Very rarely have Wraiths evolved into positive spirits from receiving love or kindness.
Race:Undead
Species:True Ghoul
Status:
HP: 150
MP: 50
PP: 0
Strength: 15
Endurance: 10
Intelligence: 10
Wisdom: 5
Agility: 15
True ghouls are different from normal ghouls in the fact that they retain the memories of their past life and aren't as prone to animalistic tendencies which have lead to them being accepted within most undead communities as guards due to their strength and sense of smell.
True ghouls have varied evolutionary paths depending on how they fight and what they eat as well as what body they are made from.
Race: Undead
Species: Skeleton
Status
HP: 100
MP: 10
PP: 0
Strength: 10
Endurance: 15
Intelligence: 5
Wisdom: 5
Agility: 20

Skeletons are one of the most numerous undead as well as one of the most promising when it comes to evolutionary paths. They are mostly used as laborers and servants as well as disposable military due to the fact they have next to no free will or intelligence until later evolutions. They are affected by almost everything that happens to them.
Thanks to having no muscles or brain and running on Mana and souls the skeleton rarely tires and can run unencumbered.
Race: Undead
Species: Zombie
Status
HP: 150
MP: 0
PP: 0
Strength: 15
Endurance: 15
Intelligence: 0
Wisdom: 0
Agility: 5
Zombies are considered the lowest of the undead. Not only do they have very few uses besides fodder, they also reek so much other undead can't stand it.
Zombies have no magic potential and generally are stuck on a evolutionary path of warriors though some may gain a different path if they absorb the souls of enough magicians.
Their endless hunger also attributes to their low status as it becomes costly to maintain them and was the reason so many races looked down on undead.
"Hmm.....this is a hard choice....so how many deities are there?"
"Are you sure you want to know? I can assure you the list is...quite long" she chuckles as she says it.
"Oh wow...alright then.....how are psionics in this world?"
"That is for you to find out. Also considering your...preference...it will be a while before you have access to them. Unless you can somehow impress a noble."
"Damn....well I guess that will have to be put on hold until a later evolution."
"As it is almost launch time I am going to be very busy so if you didn't mind...." she looked at me expectantly.
"Oh sorry, sorry...I choose....."

Lost souls, will be rewritten soon. (Old version)
In a world where mages stand above the peasants, the nobles, and the law, it is not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Five siblings from a village in the middle of nowhere felt the same. Unfortunately, a dragon brought ruin to their home, eventually cornering the five blood brothers. Luz, the eldest brother, ignored the warnings of his ancestors for the sake of their survival. Using an ancient teleportation spell, he and his siblings were sucked into a portal leading to God-knows-where. In a foreign place far from home, Luz carries the burden of disobeying his ancestors and losing his younger brothers. He sets off to reunite his siblings and slay the dragon that destroyed their village while only being equipped with one useless space spell that drains all his mana after one usage. Author's note: English isn't my first language and this is the first novel I tried writing, which is why some of the earlier chapters aren't that good, even though I grew better over time. I'm still in the phase of editing a lot of my earlier chapters. But unfortunately, I haven't yet found any time for it. Daily updates are to be expected till we reach chapter 100. If your comment motivates me, I might upload up to five chapters.^^
