The purge
???- “It was foolish to think you could defeat us, no matter how big your number.”
Over 1000 figures were gathered in the air at a standoff against 7, and the one that spoke was simply radiating power. Lightning was flickering and dancing where he moved, every step contained incomparable grace. With golden pupils and his hair standing up with a celestial aura, he looked like a god. However, the other six figures did not lose out to this one at all. They all looked extremely powerful. In fact, each one looked as if they were one of the elements personified. And yet with all that power, the seven were not taking action. They were waiting for something.
The man in front of the group numbering 1000 just smiled, and then spoke with a voice that shook heaven and earth,
The Commander- “It doesn’t matter how powerful each of you are. We are in the pursuit of the ultimate power! Those who are born with it, lack ambition, and therefore they are weak! Brothers, let us fight and become greater than the gods! Attack!!!”
Saddened by their decision, the seven shook their heads in dismay,
The seven- “You’re too naive...”
The beings let out a combined wave of power that completely exhausted the seven but wiped out all of the thousand. The only things left of them were tiny spherical objects numbering exactly 1000.
Letting out an exhausted sigh, the seven celestial figures vanished from sight without a trace. To many, this event was known as the purge. When others mentioned it, top level experts trembled in fear. It served as a hateful reminder to those who aspired to become gods, they knew that no matter how strong you were, there was always a being greater than you.

However, unknown to many, there was a young child being born at that exact same time. Before the baby let out his first cry, he was struck by the fluctuations causing his scream to be stuck in his throat. Everyone in the tent died except the child, and later on, the day of the purge would become known differently in the minds of many. It would be a day of tragedy no longer and instead be known as the start of the rise of a being with no equal. His name was, Daniel.

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?
